  1. My estimate for 2011 would have been between 35,000 to 37,000. However, if we get 40,000 because of Jim, then he truly is the Messiah.
  2. It looks like the "Magnum" to me.
  3. has not set their status

  4. I'd be disappointed if we don't get 12 wins this year - which will get us into the 8. To make the prelim or better? Wow. Must be a case of post new years eve hangover?
  5. Oredered my 4 on 24 November - still hasn't arrived.
  6. Played it loud in the office - happy happy joy joy!!!
  7. Well I sit in the Olympic Stand & thats almost sold out.
  8. We'll easily make 20K before Christmas. Just hope the momentum continues to set records after 2010.
  9. Hawks told Bruce to stay with the Dees. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/hawks-told-cameron-bruce-you-should-end-your-career-at-melbourne/story-e6frf9jf-1225968231890?from=public_rss
  10. Would GWS be entitled to take any uncontracted players from the Suns? Or is that against the spirit of the newly created AFL rules?
  11. Excellent choice. I'm off to the medical library to do some in depth research & then begin a new thread. Silly season is so educational.
  12. The State government removed the machines from Tatts/Tabcorp. They are now owned by private oragnisations such as pubs, clubs etc. Thats why Carlton now own over 230 machines, because of their mate Bruce Mathieson. We managed to buy 92 machines. Tatts & tabcorp lose the Machines from 2013.
  13. We can't forget that from 2013? we own 92 pokie machines outright. Which means (from memory) returns of $157,000 on each machine. Thats roughly over $14,000,000 that will be coming into the club per year. In the past we were only making $2,000,000 per year on pokies when shared with Tatts & Tabcorp.
  14. I've come across many families in this predicament. If you live in Melbourne, then thankfully the little one will be growing up in what will probably be the Demons most successful era in many year. He will be amongst many of todays young to jump onto the Demons wagon & form the nucleous of the futures membership army.
  15. I go to the Ponsford stand, 2nd or top level, mainly because the cheer squad sit at that end.
  16. What absolute tragic news. Thoughts go out to the Wonaeamirri family. As the article says he was a "gentleman of the first order".
  17. I wouldn't mind a running tally comparing the same period last year. As I was renewing our memberships, I decided to purchase 4 Demon Heartland packages. I reckon next season would be great to introduce school kids to our game & convert them into life long demons. Good initiative Melbourne.
  18. The Junction Oval is going to undergo a $30,000,000 makeover to bring it up to speed with other grounds i.e. Western Oval & Arden Street. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/cricket/junction-oval-in-st-kilda-to-be-renamed-the-shane-warne-oval/story-e6frfg8o-1225952484685 I guess it doesnt matter now, especially since our new digs are state of the art.
  19. There will be a lot of funds going into the club in the future with pokies money however, we must continue to assist the club anyway we can otherwise, we fall into the same trap thinking that the club is now safe & financial stable & the inevitable always happens. A simple thing like renewing your membership every year is an excellent start however, upgrade if you can otherwise, purchase add ons i.e. demon heartland, caps or just donate $20 i.e. 35,000 members x $20 = $700,000. The club should also offer value for money functions such as a mid season dinner where members can meet players, legends & the special speakers etc. This can be something fancy like at the crown casino with auctions etc or something simple like a mid week function at the MCG. The best & fairest will still remain at end of season. Either way, the member must feel like they are getting something for their money & the club also makes something.
  20. Is there more money in it? Yes There is your answer.
  21. I know we have 2 social clubs, Leighoak & Bentleigh, but they are so far out of the way. We will need the Melbourne board & the MCC to arrange a room at the G for Melbourne members to get together after a Melbourne games, just like the filth have in the Ponsford stand. It has to be at the G.
  22. This will be a real interesting for us in 2011. With home games at the G against Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide & the two big ones Fremantle & the Gold Coast, the averages will be tested. We will need to be winning & winning well to bring good crowds to these games.
