  1. Scratched my brain and came up with a positive…… of sorts. Our three poorest games this year (the two losses and this one) were all interstate games. What is ironic was that in the prior two seasons we were the interstate game champions. Go figure….. (I can’t)
  2. I keep repeating, every game for us is a danger game. We can’t take any side for granted
  3. And it’s too early to put this debacle down to ‘we are in our loading phase’
  4. I’m struggling to find any positives other than getting the four points for a lucky win. The best I can come up with is that they did beat (a depleted Geelong) at the start of the year. Pretty poor, scratch that. Just going to spend the rest of the weekend feeling miserable, as if we had actually lost the game.
  5. Hate to say it, we deserved to lose. We were lucky
  6. We are not playing well, the umpires aren’t great, but what is a certainty is that the commentators don’t like us one iota.
  7. It’s all got very complicated for me. Putting nationality or heritage aside, I used to think I was pronouncing his name correctly but now I’m pretty sure I haven’t been…… so now I’m playing it safe and just call him JVR.
  8. I’m so sorry. I was wrong. My understanding now is that they began leaving mid way through the third quarter. Even better.
  9. Best part of the game? Hearing that Carlscum supporters began leaving the ground at 3/4 time
  10. Totally agree. Definitely will be in the top four at season’s end
  11. Expecting him to be cherryripe come finals time. Go Grundee, Go Dees!
  12. As Goody said in his press conference, Gold Coast have won 8 out of 11 home games played. No pushover.
  13. As an aside and all self pecuniary, growing up I used to dread the gradual expansion of the number of AFL teams over the years. Statistically it just made it harder and harder for us to win the big one. Had to wait over half a century but I was wrong😉
  14. I just see Kane Cornes as the Andrew Bolt of the football world. Need I say any more?
  15. Okay, in 2021 the players were isolated and in a bubble and they managed to win the big one. They did it. They all deserved it, the players, the footy department. A few lucky supporters got over there to see it happen. The plan for the following year was that the players wanted to do it again back at the G for their family, friends and fans back home. Admirable, but for various reasons, did not manage to pull it off. Change in plans. Forget the fans. Big Max wants to do it for his dad and family. I want the players to see this clip and to do it for Max. What an incredible inspirational leader. With the right mindset they can beat anyone. Everyone else will just come along for the ride. All aboard!
  16. Surely big bad Max is scheduled to do a goal kicking session with Choko sometime this week! (I love the big fella but I must admit I get mighty nervous at times when he is lining up in front of the big sticks).
  17. At the risk of sounding like a stereotypical Melbourne supporter I cringe when I hear the bogan chant of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi,Oi,Oi. But I am so comfortable with Kozzi, Kozzi, Kozzi, Oi, Oi, Oi!!!! Go figure
  18. He actually gave Melbourne a big wrap in his press conference…. actually made me feel better about just how good we could possibly be. Shades of 2021, not just contenders but perhaps again serious contenders. GO DEES!
  19. Looks like the game of football that morphed into ‘commercial entertainment’ over the last few decades is looking at taking the next step in the wrong direction. It currently has a shameful relationship with gambling. Looks like it’s possibly going to get a whole lot worse. So sad if it does.
  20. Agree happens every year. Surely the umpires have alternate uniforms for these if and when required situations. It is soooo frustrating. How about fluorescent green or pink or any other contrasting colour!!!!! Not exactly rocket science required to solve this problem.
  21. Agree, I see Petty being back but being a potential swing man going forward if and when required, just like he has been recently used. Pretty much like TMac being used in the past to swing back into defence if and when it was required.
  22. By pure coincidence I just happened to read Peter Fitzsimons’ book Gallipoli just before Anzac Day. To be honest, I knew very little about the Anzacs prior, now I have a far deeper appreciation, (in other words I know a little more). I guess a lot of people’s take on what Anzac Day means to them would vary, each to their own. When I was at the G for the game this time round my focus was very much remembering and paying respects to all soldiers (on both sides of the fence). This includes the fallen and those that survived but carried physical and mental scars for the rest of their lives. War is a very cruel business. I understand that there is a commercial aspect to how the AFL handles Anzac Day (eg Anzac ‘Eve’ game). To me however, it gives me an opportunity to reflect and at the same time I am proud of the ‘humble respect’ that the crowd exhibited to our fallen soldiers in all wars and …..enjoy a great game of football. There is no conflict for me.
  23. Off topic a little but I have been pleasantly surprised by how he is almost first on the scene to back his teammates up in any scuffle that occurs. Don’t consider him ex Collingwood anymore, he is simply one of us.
  24. Every game we play is a danger game, simple as that
