  1. 5-Fifty - time for a drink somewhere.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTTIm5ys78M He kicks a number of great round the corner snaps because he doesn't have time to straighten - which is fantastic. But when he kicks a set shot - like at 2:00 in that video he kicks straight through the ball - best goal kicking action since Garry Lyon at his best.
  3. Team to try to win R1: B: Clisby McDonald Garland HB: Terlich Frawley Grimes C: Vince N.Jones Watts HF: Hogan Clark Howe F: Kent Dawes Fitzpatrick R: Jamar Cross Viney I: Trengove Tyson Michie S: M.Jones E: Gawn Toumpas Pick 9 There's many things I'm unhappy about in that line-up: Kicking skills in the back-line - need Watts to get back there as 7th defender, and also add a bit of height as needed Midfield is still 18th best altho we have closed the gap on 17th and the rest Forward line is top heavy - longer term Mitch should be 2nd ruck but not in R1 so Fitzy has to play to ruck, which really leaves us short one runner Jamar - who knows if he can still play at all, but for a winning R1 2014 line-up I'm unconvinced about the Gawn-Fitz combo I can't find a place for Dunn in the backline even though he played there most of 2013 and maybe that's being unfair on him. I don't think Toumpas is up to the pace yet but I hope he and pick 9 are very quickly. I've cut Michie some credit and included him unproven on the basis that we traded for him for a reason. Cannot have both Cross and McKenzie. That leaves 16 listed players unselected and they come with a variety of pedigrees and experience - 1st round draft picks, later picks, a whole bunch of RD picks and a couple of trades. Only 3 neophytes and one veteran - 12 players who should be in their best years: Byrnes, McKenzie, Dunn, Blease, Strauss, Pedersen, Magner, Nicholson, Evans, Barry, Tapscott, Jetta, Spencer, Taggert, Bail, Stark It would be no surprise if half of them are gone at the end of 2014 but equally it would be a big disappointment if Roos and co can't find at least 4 quality role players from that group to add to the above set. No doubt plenty of this will look laughable this time next year.
  4. He ran away from everyone carrying and bouncing. Good agility too. Quick disposal. Would only be caught with the ball if he tried to do too much.
  5. Within the realm of the possible it looks like a good outcome IMO. Who cares what Barrett thinks ; )
  6. That's partly true, I don't really think it matters whether Hawthorn or North win the flag on the back of a McEvoy or Dal Santo NSM. The Saints list was going off a cliff, I think Pelchen has at least reduced the gradient. Bolstered the backline with Bruce and Delaney (as Machsy points out) Didn't necessarily lose anything in the ruck long-term with McEvoy for Longer and good picks. Their midfield is still better than ours with Montagna, Stevens, Hayes, Armitage, Ray and they've added some garnish with Savage They really need Stanley to come on behind Riewoldt. They've got picks 3, 18, 19 in a midfielders draft and that's where they need to make hay. There's obviously a harmony question with the coach but that's a separate issue from list management unless everyone decides they want out like they did at Brisbane.
  7. That's a good list but that's not where value with PSD 2 is going to come from. Those delisted players can be picked up by anyone as delisted FA. The value comes in convincing someone who's required but still out of contract to come to us in that draft.
  8. Maybe above GWS and St.Kilda (and Essendon depending on what happens with ASADA). There's a much greater chance we'll finish last than make the 8.
  9. For the people that like this thread that would mean he is already an improvement on Nathan Jones.
  10. PSD Pick 2 effectively Pick 1 now with GWS committed to Lamb after trade didn't eventuate.
  11. I think once the final ins and outs of the trade period are tallied Pelchen will be looking pretty good. Dal Santo and McEvoy out - Savage, Longer and Bruce in. It does depend on decent drafting but they've got 3 top 20 picks
  12. Trade Frenzy - Saints trade period looking better by the minute.
  13. Agree, I'm willing to believe that there is some possibility that Roos can transform Pedersen into a useful key back.
  14. My completely uneducated leap to rash conclusions based on some sound analysis from good judges: 5. Gold Coast: KK - Scott Clayton special and they need someone like him off HB. 6. Collingwood: Freeman - to replace Swan and fair chance they'll get Bontempelli at 10 too, only Brisbane and us between them. On that basis only 3 of your 4 - Aish, Scharenberg, Kelly and Billings - fit in picks 2-4, one of them at 7 to Brisbane? Might have another look at that Lennon footage ...
  15. A very warm welcome to Daniel Cross. The heartfelt sentiments of goodwill from Dogs supporters on BigFooty are a great endorsement of the benefit he'll bring to us and I'm very glad he's joined us. On the question above - Grand New Flag, hardnut, Baghdad Bob, bandicoot among a few others (but not me) can take plenty of credit for seeing the writing on the wall early.
  16. I think they'll be better with Mumford, Shaw, Hunt and Lamb. I read that their target is 6 experienced bodies so they'll be looking for 2 more from somewhere before trade, delisted FA and draft is done.
  17. All trade roads lead to Brisbane now (except for maybe Gumby to Freo). Five players to trade - Polec (Port/Crows), Longer (Saints), Yeo (WC), Docherty (Carlton or maybe Essendon), Karnezis (Collingwood or maybe North). Looks like they'll end up with picks in the 20s or early 30s for all of them except maybe Paine for Karnezis. We may be able to get involved with a player for one of those picks so they don't have to go to the draft with all of them.
  18. GWS are truly desperate for experienced talent - they've taken on Josh Hunt! Collingwood had them over a barrel - they had to close the Shaw deal and Adams wanted to go to the Pies. When Collingwood had only 6, 10 and 67 there's was no capacity for a pick upgrade sweetener.
