That was with Hunt out injured. Hunt isn't injured any longer, and the FD has him ahead of Smith for the small lockdown defender role, so with Lever back in that leaves Smith with nowhere to play except for Casey.

Joel Smith isn't a first gamer, and we're not an up-and-comer team. The standards are higher now all-around.

That based on little more than ladder positions - i.e., the combined fixtures the other teams have had thus far this year. If our fixture has been soft, how many of the other top eight teams have had soft fixtures too. The law of averages suggests around half of them.
