I like this proposed change a lot more than just some random flat number. Only allowing interchanges after a goal actually makes some kind of organic sense. Take 25 goals per game multiplied by 4 interchanged players per goal plus the 4 you get at the start of each of the three quarters and you've got a hundred and twelve interchanges anyway. At least it would be tied in some way to a fundamental aspect of the game.

I feel like everyone already knows that, but I imagine there are some young Melbourne supporters now and in the future who will actually need to be taught how important Jim Stynes was for us as a club and football as a sport. Keeping kids aware of past events is a major part of what ANZAC Day is about; and although I know it's considered gauche to compare footy to the ANZACs in any way, I think that particular lesson is one that we should take into all aspects of our lives. History is important, and Jim Stynes is as important as anyone to the Melbourne Football Club's history.

Why not? It takes 3 years to get a degree, and the concept is the same—learning a whole new way of doing things can be hard. In this case its just as much a physical hurdle to overcome as it is an education hurdle.

Looking back, Stefan Martin is still the only player I'm sorry to have lost in the last 10 years. He was also the only one I didn't want to lose at the time. But we shouldn't hate on Howe for leaving us. He grew up a Collingwood supporter for crissakes. Let him rot with his own kind.
