I agree that a critical mass has been reached and our gameplan has some gaping holes - not least the inability to perform a decent press. I am saying that I don't appreciate the views of those two commentators. I understand what Roos is saying and I remember the Healy article. I think McClure and King, and especially Robinson, are bobble heads that repeat what they hear in the echo chamber. That is just my view on those commentators.
  2. We will see in a few months. We don't have talent. We have potential. We don't have cattle - we have a bunch of calves... And you're right about leadership - but I am more worried about on-field leadership than off-field.
  3. On Scully, on on that small snippet? Or on whether an 19 year old who just wants to play footy is in a position to judge the professionalism of our FD? I think he will stay. I think he is being chased hard and he has not been enamoured with the behaviour of some Demons off the field. He's a professional and a leader from what I see, and I don't see many like him at the Demons. That would be frustrating...
  4. Stop trying to connect dots left by journos. They would make it explicit if it was, they want you to make the leap - therefore it is editorialised [censored] that the gullible and those with an agenda love eating up.

I would trust the views of many posters on here when it comes to the Dees than King and McClure... And I would trust the views of many posters on here when it comes to footy in general than Mark Robinson... He's a forka nd spoon journalist who would give Word Grammar and Spelling and the Editors at the Hun quite a workout... On footy, he is a waste of skin and fat...
  6. Royal has been there 5 minutes. Mahoney has seen some improvement (the press would not be included in that...) And West has seen little improvement. If we are using the very simplified model of judging line coaches by the output of their 'lines,' Scotty West is in a heap of trouble with Mahoney and Royal under the pump. Williams and O'Donnell are harder to judge.
  7. FWIW (and I realise it varies poster to poster) I think Morton will develop into a great wingman.
  8. And the only area that Stynes didn't revolutionise (for lack of a better word) would be the FD. I guess it happens in the next 6 months...
  9. The FD is under the gun... That is all I read out of that.
  10. W/L column has been meaningless for us since 2006... WGAF?? I implored the 'experimentation' that we nearly screwed up... I'm not pro-Bailey, I have been disappointed like everyone else, but I want us to wait for more of the season to unfurl before we cast him aside. It's a big decision and for some to think we should have a caretaker in Rd 7 or that the board should be involved is pretty naive. I want to wait a few months. That does not make me or those that think like me, apologists or blind followers of Bailey...
  11. The only pathetic display that is Bailey's fault are the ones he has overseen. Stop attributing the decades of Melbourne being awful to Bailey. 'We have another nothing coach just like we had from 66 to when Northey came...' Some of you don't realize how pathetic THAT sounds...
  12. I was expecting an actual equation... Whatever occurs Bailey will be around until mid-season at least. A decision may be made before that but they won't burn him in round 6...
  13. No it is not. And look who you are comparing them against! Melbourne fans fall far too in love NQR battlers and seductive wingmen. Our leaders are no such things and our best players are 22 and younger.
  14. We are not 'in the sh!t' because the board isn't meeting about the coach in rd 6... They will have a big decision to support at some stage this season. But not now. In fact it would a major embarrassment if Russell Howcroft and Guy Jalland were making important footy decisions 5 weeks into the season... Someone will meet with Mick and Paul so stop extending this deserved arse-fire of the FD and the players to Schwab and he board.
  15. Green has had a worse year than Bailey IMO. ICGAF about TV shows. On the field our leaders have been pathetic and Brad has been just that. He is not a champion and that moniker should never be thrown around 'in comparison' to other Melbourne players as that is just lowering the ceiling for our NQR middle tier players and our promising young talent. We should have not had a sole captain - no-one player deserved it, no-one player should have got it. I said Brad would be adequate, at the moment I am wrong.
  16. If things continue as they are - we will be having meaningful chats with Mick. But... Some of you are embarrassing yourselves; Collingwood are the team they are because of the structures and discipline that Mick has helped to ingrain off the field. Talk of an 'evil eye' or an intimadatory glare at breaks being 'what we need' is absolute rubbish. I wish it were that simple. Bailey may lose his job, and if he does he should thank the 'leadership group.' Many of you believe they will develop their consistency and desire for the contest under a new coach - I don't. If Bailey goes then this year is a failure and I would sack Green and the LG. And start again, with players under 25.
  17. No team changes it's 'gameplan' midmatch. Tactics change but the style of play doesn't. They're footy players FCS, any FD would be happy for them to learn one style and change tactics as needed.
  18. The syndrome is alive and well. Does our history of failure have anything to do with the current admin and FD? Do you 'just know' that Tom is going, Liam will pack up and go home, Jack will be dud, or this rebuild will not achieve a flag? Do you believe the worst and then declare yourself proven right be a few awful quarters and 1 awful game? Do you start a thread purporting the Syndrome to be rubbish after the awful game because the outlandish fears of the Supporters have just been proven to have merit? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you suffer from MFCSS.
  19. The right word would be crystallise. Judgment doesn't come just yet, but Cam and co. have a big decision to make in the middle of the season if Mick wants to coach again, and if Paul promises not to play the rubbish he played at the Swans. The application is not there. If it returns we will eke out enough wins to get an extension for Bailey. And if it doesn't return, another poor bastard has to deal with the 'leaders' down at AAMI...
  20. The jungle drums weren't very loud before the wce game, in fact, many on here now having a breakdown thought we would win that game. Bailey must have been doing a decent enough job for them to think we should (not could) win that game. We have had a few terrible qtrs and a terrible game but I will reserve judgment on Bailey's future until after mid season. Needless to say, it hasn't been a great start... Whether Bailey goes or not, we are still stuck with that leadership group...
  21. My team kicked 3 goals 16... Got the yips...
  22. Hence the term 'bastardised.' And, no plg, I am not calling Striker a bastard...
  23. Rest assured, OD. At some stage in our rebuild we will go west and expect a win, but I am not going to put that level of expectation on the club at this stage. And that doesn't mean we are not capable... And it doesn't mean I have 'blind faith' or I am giving a 'free pass.' It just means that we opted for a slow burn rebuild and we are in the phase where we have the capability to do many great things but, conversely, to be incredibly inconsistent between weeks and during games.
  24. lol You have posted more about the perceived awful reaction to your initial posts, than about these 'against the mould opinions' that you have and we evidently don't. You have had to deal with dismissiveness, condescension, someone pointing out the 'tone' of capital letters, some perceived name calling due to an misunderstanding, and your non-acceptance or comprehension of emoticons (google it). So while that is a lot to deal with in your first week, there is no malice. It's just been a massive "Welcome to an Internet Forum"... Who has two thumbs and doesn't give a crap? Internet Forums. I thought we'd met? (That's a bastardised Scrubs joke, but by all means take offence.)
  25. The fact you haven't seen a flag is not because we have had 'blind faith' in Bailey. I criticise the baseless criticism. There is plenty to criticise, but back it up with someone stronger than a generation of failure. That isn't Schwab, Bailey, or Green's fault. What coach doesn't? And he is 11 and 15 since we have been trying to win matches... I have been singled out for being a shill for Bailey but I still want to see a bit more of 2011 and some improvement in various KPIs before I advocate any extension. But please, take offence at this 'shout down'...
