I've enjoyed the last few posts. I'll leave it at that.

You know you are in bad shape when Melbourne supporters are calling you irrelevant... The guy is small fries... We may lose on Saturday but we will get glory on the last saturday in September before the Kangas.
-
I admire anyone willing to give their time for the club. I don't care whether your last name is Ridley, Szondy, Gutnick, or Gardner.
-
He's being saracastic...

I see where you're going with this. Interesting. Winning games...they get you into the finals! And that's where Flags are won! But we must find the Jade Monkey before the next full moon... We found it?! It's all falling into place... I know you are saying "good teams get on with it." But the rest of us are saying "good teams don't let political [censored] steal one of our players for three weeks as an example."

I am with you. I have been saying this is a development year - then we use this too develop who we think can provide something in our flag push. Hence Gawn and Martin. But footy teams and clubs have to balance that I am realising (as we over balanced recently) and therefore I think Martin and Newton will be given the go-ahead. Great opportunity for Martin. Amazing opportunity really. Can get himself a contract on a months hard work.

The best thing he can do by 5.30pm this arvo is be named in the Crows lineup at 5pm...

Up against no doubt, but footy is a funny game. We will see.

My guess is Newton will be asked to ruck with Dunn if Martin is injured. If Martin is 'fit' then I thinkNewton will help him out. If it were my decision I would bring in Gawn, but I can understand why some players would prefer to see Newton get a run as he has been working hard for Casey. The players comment is my own belief that they would question the merits of bringing in a 19 raw rookie (or wookie) from the Casey Seconds.

No surprise really. The players would even more confused than they usually are. Can't pin an arm and try to stop them kicking it? So I have to attack the hips, forget about the arm and let them handball? It really was the 'perfect tackle' but Dangerfield couldn't care less about his own safety and brought his own imbalance and his own concussion. Two players contributed to a concussion - I say Trengove started the action, and Dangerfield made it into the 'attack' that Faptrick Smith calls it... Jack the Patsy...
-
These are the two questions rolling around in my brain. I hope the answer is Yes to the first question, so that the second question is irrelevant as you suggest. Surely, there is scope to question the rule itself.

Maybe the clubs want to go scuba diving? Can't do both...

Let's attack a Macca's store!!

Both 21.

I would love for us to get semantical and query their issue with the tweet. Make them explain that tweeting with a 'hash-tag' and sending tweets '@' someone else means they were talking about the decision. We won't though. We will take the fine in our stride. Which is fine... If Trengove gets off. And I know that the rules are there for a reason but they need to sit back and realise it is the Guerra-Bruce tackle and those intended to hurt/injure that are the ones they want to target, not an-off balance bloke with an arm free that he doesn't use to break his fall. That dog don't hunt...

The Ostrich Non-sequitur!

And the bourgeoisie. All of them! March!

I dunno. Are there Egyptians yelling at you to get out of the water?
-
Good to see. Torch bearers - turn your ire from Bailey to the MRP. Charge!
-
Difficult to go from Casey seconds to AFL in a week. The safer option is to go for Martin and Dunn. Assuming Martin is fit. We will see.
-
We are not going to win the flag in 2011 so let's keep the razor blades for when we are a chance for top 4, hmm?
-
I would like us to appeal. But the club may err on the side of 'frack it.' As a footy fan, I would like them to appeal as I would love to get some clarification.
-
Watts will do no such thing. Dunn can keep pinch hitting. Martin will have the time of life - he has resurrected his career and now he gets a few weeks to develop some form. Injuries happen, Jamar can do without his PCL (no Jeff White in the jumping stakes) and hopefully this doesn't happen two years from now.

High?! Trengove was closer to his little head than his big head...

I agree that he was placing of pressure on the players. The way I read his comments was that he was saying the 96 point thrashing was due to the players' attitude, as was the 54 point thrashing the week before. But I really think we should attempt to disconnect the demeanour we see at press conferences from the one we assume he has at training, in reviews, and one-on-one chats with the players. He was a friendly father figure? Now he is someone who should be feared and respected? It is possible that you are seeing that, and it is also possible that you don't know his demeanour inside AAMI. From chats I have had with people at the club - it seems that Bailey can give some harsh truths and a decent spray. Viney mentioned the desire not to overload inexperienced minds, not Bailey. I think he should clarify that statement, especially on the events of Sunday. Answered the call for change? I don't know about that. It is very difficult to change a gameplan and implement a press (and a bloody good one at that) in one week... I believe the more sound explanation is that they have worked on it for weeks (if not months) and the players haven't learned, or the personnel wasn't showing enough application to perform the press properly. I'm inclined to believe the latter. I don't believe those are separate notions - I think the players were 'switched on' and that in itself improved the gameplan. I think we are going where there is space, as opposed to boundary line dominant or corridor dominant. Paul Roos harps on it whenever I listen to a Fox game he is commentating. I agree completely about this week being a good time to see progress - even if it is purely consistency of application. It's incidental contact with the ground that caused the damage. Dangerfield had an arm free but because he is too brave for his own good, he was more concerned about getting the ball forward than his own safety. Jack should be playing against North. I believe he will.
