I was talking in the abstract, not about you, old dee. The NFL has sold out crowds every week. The AFL has far superior crowds to NRL. If you watch a game important to you, and one you could attend, on TV instead of live because you are watching a 'TV sport' it is because your desire for said sport is lower than others. It's a cop-out of biblical proportions to say that a sport is a 'TV sport' and that's why one doesn't go.
-
They are the simple facts. But the full story is never so simple.
-
How can anyone say that sport isn't better watching with your own two eyes? The NRL fans who say that the higher AFL attendances don't matter because NRL is a 'TV sport' are tacitly saying they don't like watching their sport as much as AFL fans.
-
Story's are rarely so black and white. Well, good ones anyway... This is no exception.
-
Yeah, you are. You have to get the base package of $45 and then the extra $16 for sport and that is just the unupdated numbers from their website as there is no sign of the Fox Footy channel in their packages. So for $732 you can watch it... There are minimums of 12 months sign-on and $600 plan for Foxtel. Edit: Got a deal going for newbies - $100 install and $50 general and sport for 12 month minumum. For a saving of $32... Oh, and if you are already signed up, this doesn't apply to you...
-
I would wager they will call it Fox AFL is something like that... Footy has apparently become The World Game exclusive...
-
Yes, Hankook being photoshopped out would be the only thing to take from it. The website guys don't get told - "we need to show Nathan and Brad we still think they are leaders..." They have just put on two popular players that the majority of fans identify with.

Depending on your age - let me know if you are keen on playing some footy up here. PM me if you are keen.

Did we tell him over the phone too?

Won't mean much the Parra/Pen game. NRL fans seem to hate actually going to the game - their attendances are awful. It's a 'TV sport' they say! Every sport is, you either like your sport enough to want to watch it live or you don't. NSW NRL fans don't.

Couldn't find Craig Turley in that list. Ellis was good value for a spell, and Holland to a lesser degree, and Pickett to an even lesser degree (good to see him line up blokes though). But Moloney, Bizzell, and Vardy were the really good ones. Enjoyed all three of their careers at the Dees.

Chook is right. Hannabal coined it I believe in anticipation of the draft where we got Trengove, Gysberts, and Tapscott. I like the dragon though!

rpfc will do as he wishes. Also, posters that refer to themselves in the third person has got to annoy people...

It's two years.

It's farcical and absurd. Whenever someone is 'resigned' it as if he/she was fired to all those with half a brain anyway. We would have looked like we were reacting to 186 either way. Only Melbourne supporters would wring their hands because they thought the club could have 'resigned' their coach rather than 'fired' him... Is that not what this thread is?
-
The call to end it wasn't great, but the idea that we should have asked him to resign is absurd. Do you want him to no longer coach your club? If it is a yes - don't patronise the man with an opportunity to fall on his sword. We are holding the sword!
-
I think he coached a NAB game last year.
-
Yeah, my money is on Nicho.
-
So the order is Jones, Bail, and Nicholson and then no-one knows and it is just speculation, extrapolation, and postulation? Glad we cleared this up for everyone.
-
What was the club supposed to do when the team loses by 31 goals and the coach has zero chance of getting his contract renewed? When you make a decision - you re-new or you cut ties. Having a 'Danny Frawley' situation - with a coach being in charge past is position as coach ending - is worse than having a messy Sunday night board meeting and Monday morning presser. These things never look good. And that article was fine, I wouldn't read too much into that in terms of trying to analyse the man.
-
Nicho has already agreed to another year on the RL.

I'm afraid you don't understand - our constant vigilance isn't stopping failure, it is allowing insight into when we inevitably fail.

Col Sylvia suspended for Round 1, 2012
rpfc replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's a big caveat. He was unprofessional and it is something that he has to grow out of. All the other stuff is him being an idiot and that's fine. -

I think that is a long bow. Players were asked, the keen ones put their hand up - end of story. I highly doubt we pushed the boys to get involved, it is not the kind of thing I would want 4 important players to do while a new coach is starting up. -
I wouldn't waste the tank he apparently has from his efforts in the recent time trial. Midfield or HBF.
