  1. Ok, this is where you went wrong - 'observations and facts'? Just meld them together? I agree we were a basket case but point 4 is a vigorous meld, point 5 is not true, and point 6 is an unfair extrapolation of someone's word.
  2. There are roles, and then there are roles... The 1st round is where you pick up the talent, and that talent should fill the important roles in the midfield or in key positions. Just my view.
  3. Yes, but I don't think you should invest a Pick 17 on a HBF. I hope Blease is destined for bigger things than playing on the 5th best forward and rarely getting forward of centre.
  4. I have. In fact I think I have used it a couple of times... But only to describe a role, rather than give the role the title 'QB'... That is a narrow, but deep, distinction.
  5. Do you mean 'defense'?
  6. Er, thanks for your insight... I think this thread moved onto how crap the Giants will be, and how unfortunate it would be if we chose Sheedy to coach us, than us taking the crank seriously. As an aside, does Demonland have a no 'Walking Billboards-as-Posters' rule? Coz, we should...
  7. Nah, same missus. I get like this every off-season. Hannibal/Lone Wolf/Glengarry Glen Ross/Tweed Pig/Trav 20 thinks I am 'unreadable' but I disagree.
  8. He can have a personal life, but I would have preferred he said to Anderson before the IR series "Sorry Adrian, I only get a few weeks to get maggotted with my mates and I really cherish that time so I won't be able to play IR." But he decided to 'commit' to the venture, and was keen to play as Eade said he rang every day confirming his eagerness. This is my only issue - he is not as professional as he needs to be to get the most out of himself. The rest is just him being an idiot, and he is more than welcome to be that. But he isn't professional enough for Neeld and that reaction is probably a good thing.
  9. Well, if you believe said directive was from those at the club (Bailey would have been apart of that decision, but we move on...) how do you think Sheedy would have taken that? "Listen Kevin, we want to purge this ageing list and attempt to claim a good draft position in the next couple of years before the expansion clubs take all the picks." "That's great. How do you guys feel about recruiting Mark Bolton? Oh, you don't want him? That's too bad because I am going to put it out into the press that MArk Bolton has a contract waiting for him." Hypotheticals are always treacherous but, seriously, I can see Sheedy being an absolute effing disaster. We would be picking up the remnants of some awful deals and clearing out the dead wood he traded for to try and stay competitive after the Daniher years.
  10. Bailey, say what you will about his coaching or development, turned the list over quite brilliantly, and ruthlessly. You can't on the one hand call the Bailey tenure a 'hand grenade' and as I am reading this I realise that you were the one that made that wholly unfair assessment of Bailey that was posted recently... Suffice it to say - you have your view, I have mine. But I very much doubt that we would have gone for as much youth as we did, and while that was partly to blame for the disaster that was 2012, it is also the principle reason why folks around here are so bullish about the future.
  11. It happens every year, the key for all is to get a sense of humour. Some are incapable of finding said sense and they usually end up in the land of BigFooty arguing with 13 year old Richmond supporters that 'while we are not flying at the minute, we don't suck donkey ....'
  12. There's a few poor souls on here that think we should have gone for Sheedy back when we had the chance...
  13. Yeah, they should get onto that.
  14. Teams don't select the captain; they vote on the leadership group. And I don't trust these blokes to know a leader... But it has an impact on what the coaches think, well it has in my experience...
  15. It's just one of those things that are done at all levels now. I don't think it is necessary to make the decision, but I see it as valuable up until the point of the vote - as, in my experience, the 'contenders' are pushing themselves to be do more and to give more to influence their teammates. After the blind vote is taken the coaches use it as much or as little as they like. Ususally the best leaders are known to the players and the coaches - sometimes you have a vacuum... I think Neeld should take the results of the player vote with a shaker of salt...
  16. I still think there will be a player vote, so the input of the players will still be there. But like many, I hope we choose leaders that we want to lead the club and not just those that the players think provide leadership.
  17. Yes, but I would say his lack of professionalism that his off-field behaviour reveals, affects his on-field performance.
  18. We won't be stupid if we don't take him... Frankly, I don't think our senior players can keep him in check, and I don't think he is a distraction that Neeld needs right now.
  19. We got Clark, JCB. Let it go. If it was a long shot before we got Clark, it is an even longer one now.
  20. IIRC your last post was lacking some tact and was deleted. I always say to myself - if I was running this site and responsible for what is on it - would I still write what I am about to write? And you can just reply to the personal message and ask.
  21. I've got one. It really grinds my gears when people start doing a Hutchy/Caro "it's a bad call/good call" rip-off. It sounds dumb when they say it, so how do you think is reads on here?
  22. The best always reference past comments in. Keeps the loyal fans happy...
  23. I think Jack is intimating that we rolled over on the compo picks and took the 'two holdens' and should have held out for a Lexus or Mercedes to replace our treacherous Bentley... No Beamers though! They tend to get smashed...
