So he has not been able to work with 'quality' medical personnel? Who judges that? Are you? Is your unnamed source? I'm of the opinion that, like many professions, sports doctors and sports fitness managers have their ego and their way and the don't like others that have a similar desire to protect their ego and their way. So unless you can give us more than smug asides with intermittent dire concerns, I will think you are just trolling. We will see.

It's unsettling isn't it? Look, I am not a father so I have no experience on this - but I could never see myself profiteering from my son's career like this... Any fathers on here see anyway that Phil can look at himself in the mirror? And that is not an invitation for puns...
-
Of course he would have done this, RB. This honesty will make or break some players. But I would prefer we settle who is ready to put the work in now so we can stop wasting our time with those are wasting theirs. And to personalise it - t'll with either make Jurrah a great player or it will not... But talent like his deserves the chance at greatness.

I am uncomfortable with offerings of kissess and hugs from Rogue...

I was blase there. They either offered it or he asked for it - either way it is ethically objectionable.
-
With FA in it will be 26 year olds and up, so we won't have to worry about losing any talent for a few years...
-
All issues are nuanced - which is why there is a 'but.' Your quoted remarks are conjecture and they may be right, but it also may be true that they did not have him signed up in October 2010 and that they gave in to Phil's request for his own pot of cash. As I have said - it is all irrelevant now, and - in hindsight - we seem to have dodged a rather large bullet.

They have given HWMNBN their ELC (Extravagant Luring Contract) to a 19 year old who I believe will be a very good player but hardly the bonafide star that Judd was and Ablett was. These player elevate the club and those around you and while it is great to have a sh!tload of talented youth it is quite another thing to educate them, develop them, and get them to play well (as we have seen at the Demons in 2011). They were rebuffed it seems by all,and left with the sundries, and are left with giving the biggest cheque in footy to a 20 year old with questionable character and his father tagging along for the ride.

Insulted? I don't know about that... And, again, I have said that I was wrong about the character of the kid. And my 'belief' was naive to the extent that the reason for the belief was based less on what I knew of the kid and more on what I would expect from a young man and Demon. Will a Demon get the same benefit of the doubt from me in the future? Probably.

Grief? I will say that it is looking like in October/November 2010 GWS made serious overtures to lure, seemingly, the entire family. But before that? Surely they would have actually had a go at getting a Dane Swan or a Pendlebury or anyone else of greater note than a 19 year old with excellent potential but not much else? And, it isn't normal practice, Gubby Allan rarely engages in normal practice, let alone moral or proper practice... And if HWMNBN was already 'done and dusted' - why bother giving the father a deal? I would tell him to get an allowance from his son... They were still dealing at that point and Phil got himself an easy job on great money with security for 6 years. Profiteering from your own son (shaking head). It's sad.

Words feel inadequate but we are lucky to have touched the life of a young man and he ours. The eternity of the internet and the power of this site allow his intellect and passion to be seen past his time and that is a great thing. Condolences to his family and friends.

I am not sure what you want me to say here. I have already said I was wrong about the character of the kid as he left for specious and poorly veiled reasons. But did he lie about the negotiations? Was he signed up in October 2010? His father arranged with Gubby Allan to score himself a job from the negotiations he was having with GWS. I wouldn't put having these negotiations behind his kids back past this bloke. Having said that - lies were obviously told at that March presser - whether the person who spread those lies knew that is another, rather pointless, question.
-
Now I want them to change to the Casey Demons...

Similar sentiments. I have edited this because my 'deleted post' was actually not deleted it was in another thread and I am blind.

I don't know whether he knew it then... But I think it is safe to say that Phil and Graeme have had more say in what happened and when it happened.

I think Mono is taking the prudent step of not taking note of said past experience over a decade and will base his view on the actions of a couple of Doctors who have worked with Misson for 3 weeks. It's just the right way to look at things...
-
He's more and more looking like a kid following his unscrupulous father. I wonder when he will wake up one day and realise his life has been railroaded by Gubby Allan and the personal desires and ambition of his father. I pity the kid more and more...

He only said he was a candidate for worst kick...

Being able to kick it far doesn't mean someone is a good kick. Johnson used to spray them.

Brad Dick is a more of a small forward than Medhurst. But he is keen to go back to Perth. Although I have heard that refrain before...
-
On the face of of it - yes, however the Football Director role is designed for an old boy. It has to be a loyal clubman with a knowledge of footy - that means former players.
-
Talk is the only thing at this time of year... He'll make mistakes but at least he is being honest with the blokes and the fans.
-
Yes, it is more likely that. And sub-editors change things because they think it flows better. ie. if you mentioned Mahiney earlier in the article the SE thinks you will tie him in later and then changes the name because the journo in question 'must' have 'misheard.' Anyway... Did you hear the story of when Michael Jordan, Bob Hawke, and the dolphin from Seaquest 'single-handedly' recruited Mitch Buchannon from Baywatch? "Some people stand in the darkness..."
