Kids get banged up and this the week you arrogantly rest a couple of them.
-
From what I have heard and read he is adamant he is not going to play back - the rest is your supposition.

That was Channel 7 commentary, there is no Fox commentary if there is C7 available.

Yes we do. Brown is our FF. If TMac can’t fit into that then that is a problem. He trained in the summer for a wing and while his kicking would be heart in mouth stuff when he runs defensively he will be up there with Langdon with kms covered and would be a dangerous threat running forward and taking grabs overlapping with the forwards. And lastly, injuries will impact ‘synergy’ we should experiment within reason to make sure we are prepared for the inevitable forced changes that will have to come if we are to play 26 weeks this season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
rpfc replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
The best aspect of his development is allows us to play an extra tall if we want. He plays better with the ball on the ground right now. He isn’t clunking his marks but it’s more a timing thing rather than a confidence thing; if you are slightly off on confidence you tend to have rigid and tense arms and double grab even easy marks. Jackson’s misses just kind of slip out or through. -
He isn’t flashy but he plays his role - I think one of the new draftees was being touted as replacing him just after the National draft. I found it laughable. Guess who is laughing now? Well, I guess all of us, or none of us if that’s an odd thing to laugh about...

I am not quite there yet, but reading that thread for 30 mins tells me that we are not far away from relevance - we obviously have a long term lease in the heads of Tigers fans... I wish they had told us, we would have rented it out for a decade or two and made some money...
-
And if add or subtract only one quarter - they cease to be quarters... Really makes one think.

What’s the cap? $500k isn’t what it used to be.

Interesting about Fritsch being right. Best chance to win with fit and firing players so if he and May are right then that does make sense.

Players Winning Percentage in the Red and Blue

The winningest player with more than 50 games? Jake. Melksham. Some of you just grated your teeth so loudly. Just stop it, it’s an awful sound.- 36 replies

Great player for the club and from his On The Couch and Gawn & Gus appearances - he knows this is the end and he is fighting for games and I hope he has a moment on Sat Night. I predict he will be pushed out of the team inside of a month but I am so happy that he kept going and that we treated him the way that the greats should be treated.

We didn’t recruit him to tackle. I know that is flippant but he’s there to lead to the spots that a good forward leads to and kick goals.

Kate Roffey Set to Become President of the MFC
rpfc replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The ‘last thing we need’ is a woman leader who realises she is a woman? I assume that is what you mean by ‘Gender Politics’... This club has been distracted by a lot worse things than Womens Issues for decades so we should know that that is a sideshow to distract from mismanagement, infighting, poor decisions, poor list management, poor recruitment and retention, et al. So ease up on the pre-appraisal yeah, we wouldn’t want to call anyone a chauvinist... that would be just terrible. -
It’s what Nathan Jones has 201 of...

Agonising loss? To the Tigers... After starting 5-0... This is what I am talking about people! -
Who are you kidding, people? You are all a 5 goal loss away from bloodletting about playing too many kids, or about our NQR players that ‘aren’t good enough for a flag winning team,’ or about the whipping boys of the past, present and future being the reason you sulk on the way to work... I’m overreacting sure but this board is insufferable this week - just as it will be after our next bad loss...
-
I agree with the latter and that’s why I would pick Weideman. For the 7 goals - he gets the call up on that performance.
-
From the AFL article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/598967 ... it will be May and Weideman in. Fritsch not right. No Brown for the fact that we cannot handle altering our setup so radically in one game. A really mature decision. I guess M Brown and Petty out.

While I usually love these threads - mainly after a win the opposition supporters didn’t see coming. However, they are right to belittle us - where were most of us at 3 qtr time last week? At different stages of the ‘here we go again’ hand wringing that has defined us and this team for a generation: we do not turn up at a consistent rate at the times good teams turn up. And just take it on the chin is my advice - and when we actually perform in these moments consistently we can push back a bit... Otherwise it’s cringeworthy performative art
-
I think Hibberd was brought in to get him right for Martin. Play on him and then look for hibberd on the spread. Make dusty work defensively. Thats more of a basketball tactic when you are more assured you can get the ball to the specific player but hibberd is good enough to find the ball.

He’s going well, he’s a jet. But he better start taking those grabs otherwise we are running out of people to drop and our best 22 might say Weed can back up Gawn... But I saw him in the flesh a few weeks ago and he is getting to the right spots now, and the next thing to click are those grabs. -
Depends what you’re looking for; a consistent commitment to pressure and structure so we are never out of the game, or a revelation that we are as good as the Tigers and Dogs et al. We will have our extended fade outs - all teams do - even the best. I think we are a top 6 team that is consistent and should be close to a prelim.
-
I take your point, he was nowhere near Gawn but “complete dominance” is a bit rich.
