Yeah I can remember the Carlton Cheersquad were waving their flags whenever we kicked a goal. Bizarre night at the footy. Even some our wins in 2007 felt like losses.

Give it to Brad Green for 3 or so years. Is the perfect age and obviously has leadership capabilites.

No way Pies would give up Cloke for Judd. Collingwood are building their next decade around Cloke.

Hudson defects from Crows to Bulldogs
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Pinball Wizard's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. Take the money and run. Otherwise why else would players have managers? -
Will we actually have any players left for next year? You can't put all your eggs in the one kiddy basket.
-
Hawthorn and Carlton are requesting a Good Friday match next year - round 1.
-
Best to flush out anything attached to the Daniher era. Having said that I'll miss his press conferences and interviews. They were always good listening. ie - "we got the burger with the lot" - after the Dogs win.
-
It's understood Hawks will be playing Carlton on Good Friday - round 1 next year. The AFL will probably send us to Perth

If McLean departing enables us to catch the big fish, then I'm all for it. McLean wasn't so brilliant after all.
-
So do we still want to give Brock the captaincy
-
Being uncontracted, can't he just walk free into the Pre-Season draft. I'm sure Richmond and Carlton would be more than happy to give him 3 years.

Rhino, I think the Roos get way too much credit for their own good. Its as if sympathisers view them as a suburban footy club making good in the AFL. Rubbish! Their one of 16 AFL clubs, there is nothing very special about this club. OK, they made the finals this year. Fantastic. 50% of clubs make the finals these days. They enjoyed a soft draw in the middle of the year, and easily accounted for bottom teams. But then come rounds 18-20, they lose to Brisbane (GABBA), West Coast and Geelong. Talk about failing the ultimate tests. As for their finals record, they've been a disgrace since 2000. They haven't won a final since 2000. Hell even Richmond have won a final since then. The media blowtorch should be shined well and truly on this club if they exit in straight sets this weekend against Hawthorn. Kangaroos are just an average club that enjoyed a dream run with injuries. That is all.

Bloody oath mate! The Kangaroos have been the most overated team of the season. Sure they looked good against the bottom sides...and thats where I think the media and their supporters got sucked in. Once they played the top sides, they were useless. An ordinary club with an ordinary list And their fans have the nerve to call us irrelevent.

Good timing for Beamer, you'd have to say.

Time to put Whelan on the trade market
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ryan Murphy from Freo. Freo could do with some experience in their defence, while we acquire a young foward who has shown glimpses but could do with a change of scenary. As I said, thats what trade week is about. Looking to improve your list. I just don't want to retain a player who may very well break down again. Why not roll the dice? Take a risk? -
Understand where you are coming from, but some players who have constant injury issues should be looked at. I'm sure the Dees will contemplate trading Moloney but they know deep down that no club will want to go near him. Travis Johnstone should not be entertained. We need to retain what little class and silk we have available.

Time to put Whelan on the trade market
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because he's always injured. I rate him as a player, but I'm a bit over retaining players who are chronically injured - Beamer, Whelan etc.. I'll be happy if we retain him, but why not put him on the table and see if a club returns an offer thats too good to refuse. Thats what trade week is all about. -
As much as I love this bloke in our defence, I just can't get past the fact that he's always injured, year in year out. After a patchy 2006 and missing the Freo Semi Final, I thought OK surely his luck will change for the better and we can finally get a 22 game season out of him. But his injury woes sunk to new depths as we could only get a measely 5 games out of him for 2007. I know this may uspet a few fans around here, but in this tight cuthroape industry that is AFL, I believe its in the clubs best interests to part ways with this excellent yet injury prone defender. We simply can't afford to carry blokes whom you know won't give you a full season. See if we can trade him for a 3rd round draft selection, and then hopefully use that as bait for further trades later in trade week. Although you would find it hard to trade an injury prone 28 year old.

Dean Bailey Interview on 5AA September 2007
Bring-Back-Powell replied to The Backyard Charizard's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks heaps for your time and effort Krazy Jay. A wonderful read. Has Mike Shehan or Caroline Wilson given you a call yet!!! -
A CAC gamble that didn't pay off. He's picked up some rippers out of the blue (Bartram), but totally missed the boat on others. I hope Weetra doesn't belong in that bracket. He appears to be one of the more daring recruiting managers in the AFL.

Sandringham v North Ballarat
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
From Melbourne Central, walk down to Collins Street and catch the 109 (??) tram heading to Port Melbourne. I'm fairly sure TEAC Oval is close to the tram line. Just ask the driver. -

Couldn't give a stuff who wins it, but all I know is that if the Roos win the flag this year, there will be some embarassed footy clubs around. I still view the Roos as a 9-13 side. Thrash the bottom teams, but can't mix it against the elite ie - losing to Brisbane, WCE and Geelong in rounds 18-20. They will be found out come finals time.

Any chance he can un-retire. Had a fantastic second half of the year. Spoke to a few demon fans after the game and we all reckon he can easily go around next year. Too much dead-wood could go before him.
