Because Adelaide, St Kilda and Port wear dark colours. Melbourne wear dark colours. Thus the clash. Bulldogs is a clash as both clubs wear red and blue. Although I do concede neither team had to wear the clash jumper last year in both meetings. I'll give you West Coast. No real clash there. West Coast have never worn a clash jumper when they play us in Melbourne. Conversly, Melbourne always wears a clash jumper at Subi.

Have we ever won a pre-season game at Casey? Off memory we've lost games out there to Bulldogs, North, West Coast and St Kilda.

Ray Ellis (former CEO) in strife

Didn't we used to call him the 'snake skin salesman' -

To underscore your opinion, Bailey actually had a 11-11-1 record between rd 15 2010 and rd 17 2011. -
Hawks will be going at qtr rat power for this affair.

Why wouldn't they do this on the weekend? Surely the players can donate a couple of hours of their time on a Saturday or Sunday morning. -
I would happily take a 6 win season with a percentage in the high 70's.That would be a solid improvement and a good springboard into 2015. We need to remember that we were nowhere near a win in most games last year. Re: Bailey, he must have done something right during his tenure. Between round 15 2010 and round 17 2011 we had an 11-11-1 winning record.

God that was a disgusting performance.I actually flew up for that game and knew we'd get done to a winless team. I'm pretty sure the players travelled with the same mindset. No passion or heart was showed. I guess the players were just fed up with the whole situation. I take heart by the fact that we didn't have Clark, Dawes and Hogan that day. I'd like to think GWS won't have that easy in round 3 with these blokes in the side. And in the last game v Bulldogs we didn't even have Fitzpatrick up forward along with the 'big 3', and still only lost by 3 goals.

Any news on the clash jumper? Any amendments? I actually quite like our clash jumper of 2011-2013, best we've had so far. More than happy to wear it next year against St Kilda, Carlton, Adelaide, Essendon, Bulldogs, Port and West Coast.

Name 3 players you are keen to see in 2014 and why
Bring-Back-Powell replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Three players I'm eager to see in 2014: Pederson - To see if he can live up to that 2:36 youtube clip from 2011 Nicholson - To see if he can eliminate those Divison 4 Suburban league clangers Bail - See Nicholson -
People need a reality check. We will not play finals. We will not get close to 9th or 10th. We were a 2-20 team and were one of the worst performed sides in history. Yes we will improve but to magically expect us to win 10 or more games is nonsense. I get the feeling those optimistic fans went overseas last year and/or didn't attend a game all of 2013.

Agreed. I knew we were cooked for 2013 when we got spanked by Gold Coast in the final NAB cup game in Southport. -
[censored] poor gutless act.

And they are the only Saturday night games for the round which means that all attention will be on Melbourne. THought I'd mention the positives of the fixture among all the doom and gloom.
-
Anyone notice our 3 Saturday night games in Melbourne (v st Kilda, Sydney and bulldogs) are stand alone games on channel 7 which means excellent national exposure. Sure we've got no Friday night games but we haven't totally gone without in national exposure. The round 6 sat night game v Sydney has the potential to drag in 35-40 k with the Roos - Sydney factor and if we've already won a couple.

Like to know your thoughts on Bail for 2014. One of the least talked about players on the list. Would probably have been delisted had he been off contract. Can anyone see him forcing his way into our best 22? What's his best position? What are his strengths? I among others rated him and 2010 and 2011 and was disappointed injuries curtailed him. However he had a full season in 2012 and his skill errors became glaring and his goal kicking was erratic. 2013 was injury and form riddled. Thoughts on Bail going forward?
-
I actually thought he was back to his best in the final 5 weeks. Kept Ablett to an amazing 19 ish Kept Dangerfield quiet Kept Griffen to 17 I don't like putting him in our best 22 but every side needs a Crowley

Just read this thread and summarise as follows: 1) Cambell Brown is a better player than Nicholson 2) Brown kicked 3 goals against us in both games in 2013. Was too good for our defence. 3) wouldn't touch him with a 40 foot pole in terms of having him on our list.

Where will Melbourne finish next year?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to jackaub's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is the Melbourne footy club we're talking about. A 1 win season with a better percentage than last year is not out of the question. However given your points above, we surely will improve our win - loss. -
Where will Melbourne finish next year?

16th-17th. 4-6 wins -
He might have to meditate a bit more next year given that he's the coach of the circus known as the Melbourne footy club.

Should be rewarded for a fantastic 2012 and 2013 with the gig.

Liam Jurrah's attempt at a comeback
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
I'd put him on the rookie list just so he stops drink driving, getting smashed and/or high and get him off the darts.
