Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 19
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hoping Dawes can carry his hot month of July of 1 goal into August. -
The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
Bring-Back-Powell replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have to give Misson a ton of credit for our smaller than normal injury list this year. Can't remember any soft tissue injuries which reflects highly on the fitness department. I can now see why he's so highly rated in the industry. Hope we can keep hold of him for a few more years. -
Got no sympathy for him. Roos asked him to stay.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 19

As long as Grimes goes nowhere near Rockliff we'll be fine. Didn't Rockliff kick about 4 goals 6 on him in Neeld's first game as coach? -

Anyone know if the top level will be open or are they going make everyone squeeze in like sardines on the bottom level? -
Is it true he tried to retire last year but was talked out of it?

How upset will you be if we finish bottom
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
While we have clearly improved, I'll be really upset if we finish last. Would mean our improvement wasn't even good enough to overtake St Kilda who had been VFL standard between rounds 7 and 17. Mind you they did beat us, so logic would suggest they deserve to finish higher. Brisbane on the other hand were clearly playing below themselves in the first half of the year, transitioning to the new coach and recovering from the exodus of 20 year olds. Can fully understand us finishing lower than the Lions as they were coming off back to back 10 win seasons. On the other hand, and I could be wrong but GWS have that whiff of 'packing up for the season' sending Cameron and Co in for surgery, AKA tanking for pick 1. We could very well beat GWS in round 21 and avoid the spoon then and there. -

Would be a little ironic if the $1.5 million dollar man guided us into last place. Not even Neeld achieved that. If the saints knock off GC and we lose to Lions you can just about lock it in. -
Bernie Vince V's Dom Tyson
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah I think during rounds 4,5 and 6 Tyson started getting tagged. By round 6 (Sydney game) he was that out of form he was subbed out of the game. Then he turned his form around in the Adelaide win, kicked a great last qtr goal, and then was steller against Dogs, Richmond and Port. -
Who's had the better year? I think they've both been outstanding recruits for the club and have provided exactly what we needed going into 2014 and beyond. Interesting that one of the two players have been tagged in various games which has impacted on their output. This has usually resulted in the other having a very good game. To help make your decision, compare and contrast their key stats: Vince - 17 games, 394 disposals, 11.7 goals Tyson -17 games, 394 diposals, 11.3 goals.

Paul Roos signs for third year
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Its Time for Another's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good outcome if true. Ratten was by far our best midfield coach (2004) we've ever had. -
GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY
Bring-Back-Powell replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given that pretty much all our top 10 draft picks since 2000 have been failures in one way or another, I kinda hope he stays. -

Agree with that. Ratten was by far the best midfield coach we've ever had. -
Players to target at the end of the year
Bring-Back-Powell replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would say pick 2 is very likely for us. All we have to do is lose to GWS and Brisbane and it's ours. And that's not even factoring St Kilda winning a game. -
Conversly we could be 2-15 if we lost close games to Adelaide and Essendon.

Dylan Shiel. Lock the thread. -
Wouldn't it be seriously ironic if Roos guided us into last place despite the tangible improvement between rounds 4-15 and the major praise heaped on the man. A win against either Brisbane or GWS OR if Saints fail to win another game should see us avoid the spoon.

If Matt Jones has been dropped, Bail should consider himself very lucky. Has been providing nothing more than Jones of late. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 18

I'm talking a set back for the ages. i.e - 110 point loss playing 0 quarters. At least against Freo and Geelong we scrambled togethor between 1 and 2 quarters of ok footy. -

Anyone think we're due for a set back this week? -
I don't consider the Saturday afternoon timeslot "prime time" - particularly the 2:10 games on Fox Sports 3. Friday night, Saturday night or Public holidays are what I consider "prime time".

Would be rude of me to call this a poor win by Casey?

Make a bold prediction for the remainder of the season..

We trade Viney and pick 2 for Tom Scully and Josh Hunt.
