Because he’s the less exciting option than others. I’d personally rather Garlett for his potential 3-4 goal haul on any given week over Spargo’s manic defensive pressure. However I acknowledge that Spargo is probably ahead in the pecking order. It must be said that Spargo was outstanding in a final vs Hawthorn which is outstanding for an 18 year old kid.

Origins/meanings of Display Names?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to maximum bob's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm still angry we let Stephen Powell go. 30 goal a year midfielders don''t grow on trees. -

Me too. I think it will cost us in the long run. Aside from Gawn, our complete starting midfield has been in rehab this pre season. How in anyone’s language is that a good preparation for the long season ahead? -
Weids ready to grab opportunity with both hands

I understand he actually wanted to be drafted by Essendon rather than the Filth. -
Weids ready to grab opportunity with both hands

Pretty good sign for the future that he polled the most coaches votes in front of 90,000 people in his 20th game of footy. I’m not convinced he’ll have an epic 2019 (say 40+ goals) but as long as he shows incremental improvement, then I think we’ve got a pretty serious centre half forward on our hands. -

Apparently he's had hamstring issues all summer. I wouldn't 100% be locking him in for round 1. -
Geez it looks as though he loves a sip does our their Jesse.

Complacency is Dees Biggest Hurdle
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
How can a footy club be complacent after scoring 0.6 in the first half of its most recent game of football? -
He sure started like a rocket at Port. 6 goals in a JLT game and then a 2 brownlow vote performance in round 1. Then he fell off the cliff shortly after. He just strikes me as a very unprofessional AFL player.
-
My thinking too. I would've though 16-20 weeks would be more realistic, and he'd be back before the finals. Perhaps it's as a severe broken leg as you'd get in an athlete.

Terrible for them. Terrific for us and a few other contenders.

On a typical 9 game non holiday weekend, 6 of the 9 games are exclusive to Foxtel. For example Round 7: Coll V Port - Fri (n) Ch 7 Melb V Haw (sat) Fox GWS V Stk (sat) Fox Bris V Syd (sat T) Fox Wb V RIch (sat N) Ch 7 WC V GC (sat N) Fox Carlt V Nth (Sun) Fox Geel V Ess (sun) Ch 7 Adel v Freo (sun T) Fox So at the minimum Kayo's AFL coverage would have 6 Foxtel HD games (bolded above) that are commercial free on the above mentioned weekend. At least that's how I would understand it.

Sounds good. Hopefully you'll report that: 1) Petracca, Harmes, Jetta and Melksham are out of the rehab group. 2) Brayshaw is found alive and well. 3) Viney's cut his honeymoon short and is looking a million bucks on the track. 4) Lever looks a sneaky chance for round 1. -
This forward line (circa 2013) brings a tear to the eye: HF McKenzie Fitzpatrick Watts F Rodan Dawes Evans
-
On paper it's probably about 7th. ANB, Spargo and Weideman aren't names you would associate with dominant forward lines, on paper at least. And Petracca's an inconsistent player. That being said, if Weideman can kick 35-40 goals and takes up the Hogan slack, then we're laughing.

Interesting that we're the last of the clubs to return to training, despite a very late start and an extensive rehab group. Meanwhile contenders such as West Coast and Collingwood are back today and Wednesday respectively. Not having a go, just interesting.

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Viney+Brayshaw+Hogan=Flag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Weren't Infinity becoming our BOJ sponsor or was that just a rumor around here. -
I agree we played slightly better and tougher under Viney compared to the horror previous fortnight against Hawthorn and 186. However that loss in round 24 against Port who were a VFL standard side that year was horrid and would’ve cost him any chance of winning a permanent job, in the event that he was interested.

North just became the most inneficient and slowest midfield in the league.

Vote Melbourne's best goal of 2018
Bring-Back-Powell replied to low flying Robbo's topic in Melbourne Demons
For that reason I'd hope the fans refrain from booing him next year when we play St Kilda. He was a key for us making finals (even though it was just one kick) and should be appreciated for that. -

Is it time to panic if Brayshaw isn't out there? -
I can't see a single thing in Tim Smith that would warrant him being on an AFL list. The one thing he was supposed to bring to the AFL table was elite accuracy, but at 4 goals 5 thus far, he couldn't even excel at that. However, I see a brighter future in our other Smith

Pert's Plan to Make the Dees an AFL Power
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm staggered St Kilda had a 10% increase in membership despite their horrid season and a bleak looking immediate future. -
Who cares. Dangerfield won’t even bother playing. He’s too busy campaigning for less games and shorter quarters....but obviously more money.
