Training - Saturday 9th February, 2019 @ Casey
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Be interested to see what's happening with the following tomorrow: Whether Viney and Oliver are nearly ready to rejoin the main group. What's going on with Jones and Melksham. And I'm hoping Petracca and Brayshaw are in full training after "on again off again" pre seasons. -
Dees to take on Pies in Scratch Match (22/2/19)
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Damn straight! There'll be more on the line in round 21 than Queens birthday. -
Opposition Watch: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
For those disrespecting Port, they were actually 11-4 last year before they fell off the cliff. They’ve also won 5 of their last 6 round 1 encounters, with that one loss being a respectable 8 point loss to Freo away in 2015. So they tend to start the season like a rocket. -

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-02-07/all-australian-rucks-to-go-head-to-head-in-scratch-match Practice match V's Collingwood on Friday 22 Feb (morning) at Olympic Park. Not sure if it will be a full blown 4 quarter scoring affair, or just a glorified training session between both sides. -
And I have doubts Melksham (hammy) will be available either for round 1.

Opposition Watch: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide

Gut feel tells me Melksham (hamstring issues) will be the only one from rehab to miss round 1. This is provided we don't have an inury in the JLT (ala T McDonald last year) -

Any word on Charlie Dixon’s recovery from a broken leg? Wines, Polec, Wingard and maybe Dixon would be handy outs from the side that beat us last year. Mind you they’ll include Hartlett and Lycett into the side. -
I find that hard to believe...

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Viney+Brayshaw+Hogan=Flag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll be fuming if we run out V's Port with no back of jumper sponsor, as per the start of 2017. The traditionalist will argue that it's a great look to have a sponsor-less jumper, but it's quite frankly an embarrassing look in this day in age. -
Well played with the symmetry! But quite frankly Kent's not in the same postcode as Powell was as an AFL footballer. A damn shame he only played 3 seasons with us (2000-2002) with one of them wiped out through injury.

Training - 2nd February, 2019 @ Maroochydore
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. I can only assume the new MFC's media bloke was/is sick in his hotel room throughout the entire camp. They've had a whopping one player interview (Jetta) and that was back on day 1. Burgan was a good contributor to the MFC website and probably did his best work during the camps. He certainly kept the fans well truly updated with what was happening up on the Sunshine Coast. -

But it’s how they can survive a full 22-26 weeks after a compromised pre season? -
Goodwin signs on until end of 2022
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I read that word with a massive amount of pride. A far cry from 2013 when we all considered a 5 goal loss to Richmond a highlight of that season. We’ve come a long way and can only hope we continue our rise. -
Before you knock Dean Kent, just remember he was the one that kicked the sealer against West Coast to put us into the finals for the fist time in 12 years. Will be a bit disappointing if he cops boos from the MFC faithful on Easter Saturday.

Gary's too busy enjoying his SEN junket in Atlanta for the Super Bowl.

Dangerfield will still find a way to weasel himself out of playing despite pocketing the 50K.
-
Yeah he'll be missed IMO. But St Kilda offered him a multi year contract so we can't begrudge him of that.

In fairness, there are players that interview far better than Hibberd.

Foxtel "Classic matches"
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's a joke and shows a complete bias to the so called big 4 clubs of VIC, that they showed that joke of a game (Essendon could barely field a side that year!), while they have not shown one solitary MFC win over the summer. I feel like providing Fox Footy with a little feedback. -
Foxtel "Classic matches"
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
This classic games rubbish has gone too far. Now they’re showing the most lacklustre of games between Richmond and Essendon’s VFL side in 2016, where the Tigers got up by a memorable 20 points. And yet they haven’t bothered all summer to show our memorable rd 22 win over West Coast, which was deemed by the media to be one of the best games of recent years. -
Should Players Make Sacrifices on the Road to Success
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Lefty's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldn't listen to a word Dangerfield dribbles out. He wants less games, shorter quarters but more pay. -
Weids ready to grab opportunity with both hands
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Geez we’re quick to bag out Hogan just because he’s not one of ours anymore. If he didn’t play Brisbane in rd 2, we lose that game pure and simple. They were going to run over the top of us, but Hogan (and Garlett) bailed us out of that potential disaster. In that parallel universe, we would’ve finished 8th, played Sydney at the SCG in an elimination final and who knows if we would’ve gotten past them at a tougher venue. Hogan will be a fine player for Freo and has far more runs on the board than Weideman after their respective first 3 seasons of AFL. -
I hope Melksham’s available for round 1. He’s such a massive goal source - from both a goal kicking and assist point of view.

In round 1 2014, St Kilda had 6 of their best 22 out and we still stunk up the joint against them. I hope we don’t fall into the complacency trap as Port at their best will be a tricky assignment.
