  1. Pick 9, 2013 Pick 2, 2014 Both need to take another step up next year.
  2. Yes. You can tell the players on our list that want to get the best out of themselves as footballers and for their club.
  3. Yes I’ve got no doubt they can have a jog on their holidays. You make an excellent point. The point I was making was that the senior players who made it to training this week (eg- Gawn and Harmes) are players that are getting the absolute best of themselves, creating excellent examples to their teammates and are carving out fulfilled careers thus far. Meanwhile a couple of those top 10 draft picks that haven’t seen fit to make an early appearance for whatever reason (and I concede they have no obligation to) haven’t gone anywhere near reaching the levels they could as footballers and are nowhere near in the best 50 players in the league.
  4. Speaking of intent: Gawn, the best player at the club and easily in the best 18 players in the league by a country mile makes it to day one of training for the juniors, 2 weeks before he’s required. Meanwhile we have others talented players on paper (one who had a pathetic end to the season) that could be stars, are still on holidays overseas.

I don't like the idea, but there's always a bolter.

I think Carlton are a sneaky chance to make the 8 next year and win a final.
  7. I had to take a week off work after celebrating that monumental achievement.
  8. Agree to some extent, in that we poorly managed/planned our 2019 season and paid for it dearly. However, hopefully the three finals we played will be an invaluable experience and investment for the coming years, unlike the Bulldogs this year who's finals campaign lasted 5 minutes. We've showed we can handle MCG finals heat in front of 90,000! Furthermore, the way some of our ' 2018-2019 rehab' players such as Viney, Petracca, Harmes, T Mac and Jetta all played in August and September 2018 probably couldn't justify an early finish to their seasons for surgery,
  9. I follow the Mariners closely as I used to live in Seattle. Let’s just say they are a complete disaster of an organisation . Have rebuilt about 6 times in the last 10 years, including going through one as we speak. One could probably write a book on how not to run a sporting franchise, and base it on the Mariners.
  10. Going by the history of the draft, it's highly likely Rowell and/or Anderson will not be the best player/s in the draft.
  11. The consistent low scoring games week in, week out has been a very disappointing evolution in our game. In 2019 we had just 3 games where both sides kicked 100 points. Melbourne and Carlton were involved in 2 of the games. Compare that to the heady days of 2000 when we already had four 100-100 games by the Sunday of round 1.
  12. Not just you. I've always thought there's a bit of Brad Green about Fritsch. Particularly the lead up mark inside 50, and his kicking style.
  13. As long as they avoid the Seattle Mariners. Hold the longest active streak for not making the playoffs of all U.S. sporting franchises (2001).
  14. Awesome! Great to see the boys still travelling the world 70 days after rd 23....
  15. Anyone who saw him in our 2017 JLT pre season game vs the Dogs at Whitten Oval would agree that we have a player on our hands. Played very well as a defender that day. Also played a few good games in 2018 before doing his collarbone. Needs to be persisted with. Could be that additional tall-medium forward we were screaming our for in trade week.
  16. FYI Kane, some coaches votes from a couple of back to back dead rubber games in late 2018: MELBOURNE v GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY 9 James Harmes (MELB) 8 Angus Brayshaw (MELB) 7 Max Gawn (MELB) 2 Christian Petracca (MELB) 2 Christian Salem (MELB) 1 Stephen Coniglio (GWS) 1 Tom McDonald (MELB) MELBOURNE v GEELONG 9 Sam Weideman (MELB) 8 James Harmes (MELB) 4 Clayton Oliver (MELB) 4 Max Gawn (MELB) 3 Tom McDonald (MELB) 2 Angus Brayshaw (MELB) And to Buckenara who considered one of the Wagners a better player than Harmes…..
  17. Someone else also posted something negative about Frost during trade week. If true, I can’t see Frost having much of a career at Hawthorn with the standards their coach requires. I always thought Frost came across as a humble kind of guy that would be the last person that would cause a problem at a footy club.
  18. Off memory I think he started poorly but unlike a few of his higher profile team-mates (eg - Brayshaw) he lifted significantly from about the Hawthorn game onwards, where he polled 3 brownlow votes.
  19. Yeah, I'm not impressed with that either. 4 games down there in 5 years isn't on. And without fail they all end in heartbreak. Time for some other VIC clubs to play in Hobart. Yes Collingwood and Essendon, it's possible you can play in these fixtures too. I believe Hobart has a set of goal posts and a couple of changing rooms as well.
  20. In fairness Geelong actually want to play all 11 home games down there. It’s the AFL who don’t have the guts to send Collingwood, Hawthorn, Richmond and Essendon down there.
  21. Teams we play twice: Freo St Kilda GC Adelaide Collingwood
  22. Awesome. Looking forward to another loss by under a goal down there.
  23. That was a disgraceful assessment for a player that's a duel top 5 B&F place getter and was near BOG in a final. That Buckenara rated him below one of the Wagner's tells me all I need to know about his footy knowledge.
  24. Exellent re-signing. Putting together an excellent career given he was picked up in the rookie draft.
  25. Knowing us, we'll say thanks but no thanks. Then St Kilda snaps him up and he kicks 30 goals playing wing/HFF.
