I like Goddard's assessment. If he becomes a Dee, Dunstan would be looking at our culture and development and backing himself in to improve and fight for a spot in our best 22. Its an attitude you want from a new recruit
-
Might be wrong, but I seem to recall Martin was very heavily front loaded to dissuade other clubs grabbing him before Carlton in the PSD. Think it was over $1mill in season one and then dropped right back after that. My point being he may not take a huge slice of the cap next year, comparatively speaking. However, they may struggle to pay Walsh what he deserves when his time comes. And they must have a [censored] load of players on very little, the haves and the have nots.

Correct me if I'm wrong DD, but AFL players priorities include: play with mates, play in a premiership and to get paid well. If he wants to play for a premiership contender he won't go near GCS. If he wants the cash he may also struggle there, they have a very tight cap. After his comments on the Saints' culture, I reckon he might have a point to prove. I think in the right environment (ie. MFC) he might become a very handy addition. Would be interesting to hear of Richo's thoughts

Yes, spot on. Nick Reivoldt or Jonathan Brown on the GF edition of OTC said players like Hunt, Jordan, Weid, Chandler, Thomo will be a massive part of us pushing for another flag in 2022. They will be hungry and determined to claim a spot in the best 22. Similar to the Tigers and Hawks over the last 10 years. Add a couple of young draftees to develop (perhaps Woey jnr and AMW) and maybe Luke Dunstan and suddenly there's considerable competition. Good position to be in.

Can someone clarify if we must add min 3 players via the draft, or is it simply min 3 players added to our list via trades, FA, draft, upgrades, etc? TIA
-
Can someone tell Carlton that the objective isn't to collect the most footy cards? Is there anyone they aren't trying to poach?

I like the idea of Dunstan in red and blue. Hard bodied, don't think we've seen the best of him at the Saints Watch Chocco weave his disposal magic on him if he does come over.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Stiff Arm replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
"This is our club, it's our club! You're in it, we're all in it! This is as good as it gets, this is it!" Loved this quote from Gus Brayshaw when interviewed by Garry Lyon post game. This flag has united the players, admin, past players and members back home. The players want to share the joy with all Melbourne people -
82,500 Incl pet memberships!

Pretty sure the AFL covers the majority, if not all of this. $800 is nothing compared to the multiple memberships I buy annually for 20+ years, but it's not a measuring contest You missed the point, which is fine. I'll leave it be at that
-
Not a complaint, more wanting to point this out: Trident memberships for 2022 have gone up by about 10%. Much more than CPI. Not "jacking up" but given the money now flowing in from our success (even before the GF victory), this is a sizable increase for loyal members that could've been lessened. Only a handful of games with crowds at the G this year, no ability to use GFG. Certainly not the club's fault at all, don't get me wrong, but could've been softened with minimal increase to 2022 dues. Basking in the JBF glow of a flag, some will have the view that any increase is fine. And that's ok. But not everyone has that money to spare at the moment. Small issue in the overall joy of our success, but important to note

Good insurance, handy player is Mitch Brown. Whose left that is OOC? Majak?

Tracc said on foxtel tonight that Chocco reminded him of all the mindfulness work he had done this year and told him to reset.

My father, died 2013, a lifelong MFC supporter and 50+ year MCC member, and a good footballer himself, who instilled in me a love of the Dees by watching the vintage of Tulip in the 80s. He'd love this. Wish he was here beside me.

Good god I hope tomorrow finally puts an end to MFCSS once and for all

Can't see Dogga going. He's more important to our future than Cerra. Enormous upside Unless Jackson wants to go home, its no effing way
-
Yes, given the Weid had little interest from other clubs, his trade value would make no difference to any deal. If there are player/s involved we might have to face the prospect they could be playing on Saturday If he nominates us I'm hoping our current pick 33 and a future 1st might get it done. Don't think that's enough

GRAND FINAL: Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs

Apologies if this has already been posted -
I see it differently. I'm hazarding a guess that Cerra and his manager have already made up their minds and the desired club knows. Perhaps a nominal agreement has been reached by both clubs, or at least a rough expectation of what each party wants. Of course, trade week can throw up unexpected outcomes, but most players and clubs want a degree of certainty in advance. Look at the panic and irrationality when Neale supposedly wanted to return to Freo. I have no idea if Cerra wants to be a Dee, but probably he knows already and I think our chances are pretty good.
