  1. I’d be tempted to bring in Preuss, but reckon that leaves us one short up forward, as TMAC simply doesn’t suit the role anymore and if it is going to be wet, he is horrendous when ball is on the ground. We are gonna have to rely on midfield goals and smalls this week I feel. I’ll back Preuss, but reckon Brown should be in the mix too. He apparently kicked 5 in the meaningless practice match of 12 a side
  2. Being a traditional Saturday fixture, will teams be announced today? Or has that all gone out the window this season? I find it hard to keep up.
  3. Tom Bowne, yes I know he is unreliable, tweeted that Gawn May miss 4-6 weeks.
  4. Does anyone have information on Collingwood’s arrangements for this weekend’s match? Are they staying on the GC? Flying in the day of the game? The 2 hour bus trip we are taking is not ideal preparation.
  5. Anyone notice Warpole shove in Fyfe in the back while he was on the ground? Exactly like Vanders did, but worse, given Fyfe was grabbing at his shoulder. Not a word from Derm, who quickly changed the topic. He was so so strong on it when Vanders did it...not a word about his beloved Hawk! Disgrace
  6. How does his stats compare to AVB. I don’t see him do enough either and often his possessions are very messy and result in turnovers.
  7. I see many calling for Jones to be dropped next week. I am interested to know what it is people aren’t liking about him at the moment. I understand that he doesn’t get a lot of the ball these days, but I thought that, at times, he composed himself when the other mids turned too helter skelter and set up some nice link play. I am unsure why so many are critical of him. He seems to play his role.
  8. I had never been a fan of Spargo, until this evening. I think he can stay in the side. He was much better than his rd1 form. Good on him.
  9. I personally hope Spargo stays the hell away from the ball. If I see him lead and call for the ball and our players kick long to him down the line, I will be physically ill. He cannot mark overhead, but continues to present as a leading option. He is not particularly fast, so I don’t exactly know what role he should play, but a marking target he is not!
  10. I remember that Bartel incident. It was also a disgraceful decision by the Tribunal. It was obvious he was flopping for a free kick and knocked himself out. I think this incident is the reason why he has a hatred for our club also. If you listen to him commentate our games, he is nothing short of disrespectful. There was another Geelong player, Will Slade, who faked being hit by Yze and threw his head back and knocked himself out. Yze was initially not cited, yet the AFL launched an investigation and sent him to the tribunal. Thankfully, on that occasion, the vision showed he hadn’t made contact and Slade had flopped to draw a free kick and knocked his head on the ground. https://www.smh.com.au/national/yze-clears-his-name-at-tribunal-20030423-gdgnh9.html Then was the Trengove tackle on Dangerfield of Adelaide, where he was paid holding the ball and later suspended for 2 weeks. We really seem to get a rough go at the tribunal and our status as a ‘small club’ allows us to continually be pushed around. I feel bad for the Adelaide player, but there is no way 4 weeks is an appropriate sentence for Neale Bullen. He would feel gutted.
  11. Which is satisfying to know, but where the hell was the free kick from the umpire on the night? It was plain as day to see. I find this most frustrating, when a player is reported, but a free kick is not awarded on the night. Walker is a grub, who can no longer influence games, so tries to flex his muscle off the ball. Weak in my view.
  12. I agree with your last point, about him being an awful player, but it doesn’t detract from the clear evidence that there are rules for some players/clubs and the same does NOT apply to others. You simply can’t deny that. It is reasonable to compare it Burgoyne on Danger, as it was the exact same action. He was fined. So because of the concussion it goes to 4 weeks? Really? That’s excessive. It’s 2-3 at most.
  13. Yes, and after this clip over the head, Derm and Kingy were very jovial about him ‘wearing one’, after spending half time talking about having to protect the head. How contradictory! They also had no reaction to the instance when May was bumped heavily in the head while picking up the ball and no free kick was awarded. Apparently that sort of attack on the head is fine with Kingy and Derm. I found the narrative repulsive last night on Fox. There are too many commentators on that channel with a clear hatred of the MFC
  14. I have watched that replay back a few times, did anyone else think that the ‘high tackle’ call was actually going to be paid to Jones, who had disposed of the football and was then taken high? There was no high contact from Neale Bullen. I think a non officiating umpire had called a high tackle in favour of Jones and then the sling tackle happened and the controlling umpire overrode the call. Interested to know if others read it that way.
  15. That is terrific news! Thanks for the update. Would be great to get a run a ‘home’ matches up here.
  16. Exactly. I think another poster started a thread on here this week, which highlighted the ‘pre-tackle’ tactics. In the second-half of tonight’s match, the umpires finally started paying them.
  17. I find him frustrating myself. He is very panicky with ball in hand and fumbles a lot. However, and ironically, he is somewhat of a good tackler. He adds to our forward pressure in some weird way. This is something my namesake should look to emulate. Perhaps we can replace him with Hunt.
  18. I have to agree with this post. I noticed in many of our earlier games, Gawn seemed to ruck 90% of the match. He seemed to spend more time off and down forward tonight. Another note I made during the match was he was not used at all really as the long kick out option from a behind.
  19. So happy to hear Simon Goodwin stick up for Max. Has fired shots at the umpires for not looking after him behind play. It is very obvious that he gets belted behind play and in marking contests and never gets rewarded with free kicks. I tip my hat to Mr Goodwin for taking a stance on behalf of our skipper
  20. A little sad to Max say he might not play next week. If he needs a break, give it to him though. ANB will be suspended, but Lockhart should be ok. Vanders is injured again? Max mentioned a broken arm of some sort? He looked proppy to me.
  21. While it is always good to see the Colliewobbles lose, it means Freo join us on 12 points. A draw would have been better. Haha
  22. I know the AFL have had a really difficult year and fixturing is almost a week to week proposition, but this is really disappointing for NT Dees fans if true. The Dees have had very few actual ‘home’ games this year, playing just one at the MCG I believe. It would have been great to have a block of games in the Territory, but other clubs seem to have been given preference. Given all the effort and energy the Dees put in up here, I feel we should have been first in line to play the NT game. Hopefully this proves possible at some stage.
  23. Thanks for the link. I’ll head over there for a read. Hopefully after we finish with the hub in QLD we can find a way to play in NT.
