Is it possible the price on Tom Mitchell just changed with the Jaegar news? And therefore they need more from Melbourne in the Grundy deal to secure that?

Timmy Lamb would be feeling less comfortable than he’d like right about now. Most likely it gets done without too much fuss but the fact Collingwood are going to the media on this (after starting the discussions in good faith) suggests some risk that they might dig in and go harder on this than Lamb had expected.

Relax, everyone is getting too worked up this trade period. It’s about winning the war, not every battle. Sam Weideman being traded and/or not receiving a future second round pick in the jackson scenario won’t dramatically influence our future. I’m comfortable Lamb etc are well on top of what they need to be on top of.

Can’t see why he would want to come to us… won’t be any shot at playing 1s with Grawn in tandem. If he leaves Freo, it would be to get opportunity, surely?

If we believe that Luke doesn’t want Melbourne screwed over (which I take at face value) the idea that there is growing, published opinion that Freo’s offer isn’t good enough only helps our cause because you just know Freo will be in his ear telling him Melbourne are being unreasonable. Hopefully this has some effect on opening his mind to the idea of West Coast. Edit. It would be an amazing outcome for us if he toured Wet Toast facilities / that’d really freak out the Freo fans and at least put some heat back on Bell

Wet toast will give us 12 in that scenario, not 8 as it still trumps the Flogmantle offer even with 12 in it (and we’re in record as saying ‘best offer wins’)

Can’t understand everyone being disappointed if we trade Tomlinson for Bruce. Crazy talk. He snagged 10 in a game in our premiership year. It probably won’t work, but if it does… Besides, Toml offers us nothing now and Bruce as a mentor for JVR isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Not sure of the exact timing but he certainly has both PSD & ND as options. From memory, Luke Ball went the ND option so he could slide to Collingwood at around the 30 mark (as opposed to getting snapped up early in the PSD)

The bit that makes me nervous in all of this is that Wet Toast are sitting back and waiting to see what Freo offer, rather than getting on the front foot and setting a benchmark. It just allows Freo to push this to the death which a) gives them a greater chance of dealing Lobb late and keeping the return b) let’s WC get tempted/distracted by other offers (which is highly possible given they are considered outsiders to get Jackson). Hoping that Lamb sets a timeline on offers from both clubs (which should be after we deal for Grundy) such that Freo aren’t dictating the play

So is the idea that we would happily take 13, F1st and F2nd (or 25 this yr) but Freo are baulking? Or are we wanting them to grow that 13 into a top 10 pick before talking?

Pick 2 + Rioli gets them pick 8 & future first rounder. IF they are genuine about their interest in Jackson, that would suggest to me that they’ve already offered pick 2 in a direct swap for Jackson and Dees have said that’s not what they want. edit: this is assuming that they would be willing to give up Jacko for pick 8 and the future port 1st (which is around the Melbourne asking price).
