CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Hang on. Weren’t you piling into people who questioned Oliver’s disposal the other week? You confuse me.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Thanks for the heads up. Talked about Trac and how he has worked on mindset which has kept him focused in parts of games he has historically become distracted. Made some mention of him even working on (or at least attempting to) his behaviour off the field in this regard. Talked a bit about him and Jacko but not a great deal to report on that front. Talked about an ‘unselfish’ midfield and what I took from it was they like the balance of Trac/Clarry/Viney/Brayshaw at the moment. Made special mention of Brayshaw and how he thinks he has been one of Melbourne’s best and he is confused why people are saying he is out of form. I’m sure that will upset a few on here.

Harley Bennell fined for striking
Almost 25% of his match payment. Harsh. Always felt there should be a progressive taxing system applied to fines. If Steven May did that it’d be a drop in the ocean for him.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
I certainly didn’t say drop him. I think I said I’d like to see him spend more time forward (still do) first of all. Secondly I believe I said he needs to improve his disposal significantly or he will be in danger. I think he has shown a significantly improved performance on that front in the last two weeks. It is ok to have an opinion. Have a relax.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
I think you need Lockhart next week. They’ve got plenty of smalls who can get off the leash (Berry, Cameron et al) so you’re not dropping your quickest lock-down player. Jackson in allowed Max to drop behind the ball which tactically worked today. They might want to go down that route again next week. Also remember Brisbane play 2x legit ruckmen . My tip is they’ll go unchanged and give Tom another week off (with goody saying ‘it is a sensitive area so we’re going to be cautious’).

Quite happy for Hawthorn to eat there and not us. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.smh.com.au/national/human-excrement-found-in-free-gelato-20081026-gdt0cj.html

We haven’t had many AAs in the last decade but one of them was a former Don so I would say ‘hell yes’ to this

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
Why not in Sydney if our home game? There is no other game in Sydney that day so can’t be a clash issue. Not only do we have to jump on a plane to play our home game in their state but we have to go and play them in greasy dusk/early evening conditions (which they are used to). Baffling.

Lol I meant going inside 50, sadly

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
Think Clarko will have a pretty quick answer to our short kick inside 50 set piece? Me too. Perhaps we just surprise them and start bombing it in again.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
Good chance our Sunday game will then run into a Thursday or Fri game as they look to squeeze more matches into this next block. Most likely any change would be load management related. E.g someone like an AVB out (even though I thought he did some important things late) for a fitter Tomlinson, with AVB back the following week for someone else who would struggle to get up for another short turnaround (maybe a Brayshaw).

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
I was frustrated with Melksham early. Thought he could’ve stalked the CHF area better when we had nobody else around. But when we are at our best he is a big part of it. 15 touches and a goal tonight not the worst result on paper. I wouldn’t drop him vs Hawthorn - could use his experience/craftiness.

Gary Pert
Tad harsh. Inherited Goodwin’s contract extension so is limited in his capacity to impact football performance. Tick on new sponsors. Tick on a healthy(ish) balance sheet which will give us a fighting chance of avoiding AFL intervention. Too early to tell on finding a new home - certainly hasn’t succeeded on that front but that is a long range project so deserves more time. My biggest query on him is his role in endorsing the coaching changes (and bringing a failed coach in Richardson in to support a coach under pressure) but that really should sit on Mahoney’s shoulders first.

Our record the last 27 games (Operation Get Ross Lyon)
I’d call Paul Roos and firmly tell him the coach he gave us is broken and he has to come back and hang around until he fixes it.

What has happened to Clayton Oliver?
Too lazy (or scared) to read this thread but they need to try him in frwd line for a significant chunk of time in a game. That should be a kick up the [censored]. If that doesn’t work, then the magoos. I have a sick feeling in my stomach that his disposal in the middle is a HUGE part of our overall problem and isn’t fixable

What they're saying down at Punt Road
Dees beat them in an ANZAC Eve match (possibly the first ever one?) the same week Tom Hafey passed away. Hogan came onto the scene that night. Did one on Rance from memory

NON MFC: Round 05
The ‘aints have certainly got a few things right of late; - got rid of a sub-standard coach (we’ll take him thanks - yoink!) - decided to pay the 40c to give Butler a call (we pocketed the 40c) - traded for outside class (well, we got outside players in but arguably not class) - drafted a young tall who can catch the football (we traded our pick for an old bloke who looks like he eats footballs) - got a talented (albeit flawed) footy department boss. It is a sad day when you’re jealous of StK.

NON MFC: Round 02
I think my highest hope in life is; - MFC win a flag before Howe retires - Howe does not win a flag before Howe retires.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
I understand the love for Lockhart but I just can’t see them axing Hibberd. Surely you give him another crack at it.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
Possibly the play with Jackson is they want Max to spend more time up frwd with TMac (to expose a short Carlton backline) and they felt more comfortable with Jackson (over Weid) doing more minutes in the middle.
-
CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
The challenge with Weid is he is not a natural forward. He played his junior years almost exclusively as a ruckman. I hold some hope (not loads though) that given the relative newness of the craft he just needs a bit more time for it to click. Am a bit surprised they never attempted to get a look at him down back ala Darcy Moore.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
Ok. Weid isn’t up to it and there are better options.
