  1. Maybe StK might be interested in our 3x first rounders for Max King… after what I saw last night he won’t be around for their next flag.
  2. He’s currently much closer to being a very naughty boy
  3. I think everyone wants Laurie/JVR more out of boredom than anything else. I’d imagine stats show that most debutants have limited impact. Goodwin will have been tinkering with game plan, with sides now clearly taking short options through the corridor. He’ll rightly back this group in to have a crack at it with a tinkered plan. Settle everyone.
  4. Would stake everything I own on Melbourne not accepting anything anywhere near that deal. This is way off the mark. Cerra going for pick 6 is a closer precedent to anchor any negotiation to but even then Melbourne would be arguing the value of a higher # draft pick who also happens to be a KPP would mean any offer needs to be north of that that. likely scenario is he will not ‘nominate’ Freo until his manager is comfortable the two clubs can do a deal. The assumption that he’ll ‘nominate Freo’ and Melbourne just need to suck it up is far more unlikely than likely (even if he wants to go there).
  5. Richmond picked up Lynch as a FA at about this stage in their window… exactly what we need but sadly I can’t see where a top-tier, free agent key position player is coming from
  6. I would be shocked if Collingwood has any interest in him. They need a reliable forward target. Sam is a pretty good vfl player / he isn’t on any afl teams’ shopping lists. Sad realisation because like many on here I really like the bloke but the reality is - barring a miracle - he isn’t going to cut it at the top level.
  7. He has no currency. Maybe 3 years ago, not now. He is a depth player for any club.
  8. His footies are a scam too…. The yellow stripe is peeling off mine
  9. I raised this scenario on page 3,267 of the Jackson contract thread. Makes a lot of sense given our investment in the 2-ruck strategy. Obviously only at the right price. Gawn would have to spend more time forward though.
  10. Because of his frame?
  11. Vaguely remember hearing he was on a tour in South America or somewhere like that and he came to the realisation he didn’t want to be doing it anymore...
  12. We hold the most important card. The right to send him to the draft/PSD if he doesn’t want to stay.
  13. Only playing with one arm feels an appropriate handicap for Clarry in this era of equalisation. Apparently only needs one arm to handball anyway
  14. Theory is it is would be a mutual decision. Pies look great without him and he is occupying a fair bit of their salary cap. Upside for him is arguably limited although the chance to team up with an ageing Gawn in a side deep in a premiership window is attractive. Dees could probably get away with paying him less than we would Jacko (with Collingwood’s help) and we’d still end up with draft capital from the Jackson transaction.
  15. If Jackson decides to move on, I reckon we could get Brodie Grundy on the cheap… ask the filth to pay a huge chunk of his contract too.
  16. For the regular Casey watchers: anything they’ve appeared to ask Rivers to focus on in his time at Casey? Is he playing different positions? Recognise Jordon’s development on the wing and Gus down back has created one fewer spot in the backline but curious to understand what they are working on development-wise with him
  17. Wasn’t it reported his club of choice was Melbourne but due to Melbourne not being close to getting a deal done with Freo for him he pivoted his choice to Carlton (whom Freo could get a deal done with)?
  18. Speculation only (rare for this site) but my guess is Jackson’s mgmt have asked Freo & Melb to see if a suitable trade could be organised - if the two parties are too far apart he’ll sign a short term contract with Melbourne. No way his manager will want to put him into a scenario where there is any talk of Melbourne possibly pushing him to the draft.
  19. You’re overestimating the power Freo have in this deal. Brodie/Acres plus picks (which wouldn’t be top 10 unless they trade players) and Melbourne have the right to force him into the pre-season draft where West Coast will have an early pick. If his service to the club had been 5+ yrs (like the Dangerfield scenario) I’m sure the club would support him more to make sure he gets to his club of choice but not for a guy just out of his rookie contract when there is another suitor in his hometown. Remember Cerra last yr when Freo suggested that Luke Jackson was the only way that trade would get done (and we quickly pulled out)? Expect a similarly bullish demand from us this time around.
  20. Sammy will sleep well tonight. He did what the team needed from him AND he has probably never worked so bloody hard on his life.

  22. Another conspiracy/rumour floating around is that Goodwin wasn’t keen on Jackson flying to Adelaide because he was concerned that if he saw WA on the in-flight map it would make him homesick and tilt his decision away from Melbourne. Both theories entirely possible.
  23. I wouldn’t count on it. They make more money via ballot (and they are still trying to cover significant covid losses) and there are a lot of MCC members who prefer the ballot, even though the noisier minority would have you believe this isn’t the case
  24. We’ve reached 2,000 posts in this thread. If we can get another 4,500 posts we’ll have as many Jacko-contract-posts as Essendon have days since their last final win
  25. Andrew Brayshaw is currently top 5 in the comp and will be top 2 within 12 months. Freo would never let him go but I would enjoy seeing Freo fans sweat bullets if Jackson signals his intent to leave and Brayshaw is top of Melbourne’s shopping list.
