CHANGES: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
Wouldāve really liked to have played āaints when Brown/Weid were back. You can stretch them down back.

Thatās where I heard it.

Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
I donāt make stuff up. Pre-game heād revised his expectations because he knew the ticket sales. The week prior he is on record as saying he forecasted 45-50k.

Clayton Oliver Contract negotiations
Pert sounded similarly confident about getting 50k to the G on Saturday. Kingy and Whately just questioned whether Pert has his finger close enough to the pulse. Iād be lying if I said I completely disagreed with them...

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Dominant defence helped with that. Same thing that probably saved a 100 point loss to Footscray in the pre-season game

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
VERY small sample but midfield dynamics seem to have gone backwards under Yze. Hope there is a method to his madness

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Gawn was average. I thought sides had learnt how to negate his rucking but for large parts today they didnāt need to, he just found them on his own. Urgent stoppage practice at Casey this week pls

Round 1 Crowd
Many I am sure couldnāt make it for a legitimate reason. If you are not one of them then shame on you.

Clayton Oliverās 100th - no puff piece, no profile, no promo
We do, but they are obviously thin. They managed to film a video piece featuring Checker drinking a sponsorās product.... clearly a matter of prioritisation. maybe it is the way of the future though - the players have all made a fuss of Clarry on social so perhaps thatās a low rent way to celebrate the occasion nowadays.

What they're saying down at Cockburn Central
I would love to see these pre-match supporter comments from the opposition re-visited at the end of the year, with awards for comedy, delusion and grammar. Colingwoad sure to be very short in the latter market.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
James Jordon confirmed to debut. Good on him. Tear āem up son.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Hmm just double check that. Iāve got an mcc ticket (free reserved seat as a member) and have a barcode. My assumption is youāll need to scan both mcc membership card and reserved seat barcode for entry for Covid rules.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
I didnāt receive an sms at first but contacted Ticketek via Twitter and they reissued the tickets and I got the sms then (they were quite quick actually). I didnāt see the barcode to scan on the confirmation email so I would be wary of assuming you can access the ground via the āconfirmationā email.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Lol probably me. Iāve drunkenly thrown my scarf in a bin Rd 1 before so Iāll need something to convince there is some light in some tunnel somewhere so I donāt chuck another scarf.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Apparently the suspension happened because MFC submitted a request for the incident to be reviewed, not because he was reported mid or post game. Wow. edit. The article says the ādemonsā submitted a review (not MFC) and I forgot Perth were called the demons

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
That young tall Treacy has been suspended from a wafl game. They are missing a lot of talls

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Yes. Less optimistic about the following week though, āaints might touch us up.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Spot on, they understand how to play to Gawn now. Sadly, it doesnāt appear we a) have a sufficiently evolved game plan to counter this or b) sufficiently evolved undergrowth of talent to counter this. Having said that, less footy this more-season to assess than previous years. I remember a match (canāt recall which one) several years ago where Gawn and Viney had the ball talking. Those days feel long gone.

AFL website 2021 predictions
Oliver is the value for the Brownlow more so than Trac I feel. Very consistent poller (I think he had ~13 votes in a lean-ish yr last yr) and his contract is up for renewal which will probably give him motivation plus keep him in the media spotlight through out the year.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
He played in the 1sts in round 1, 2018 and was drafted in November 2017. He has played 60 AFL games. Couldnāt have played more than 10 games at Casey (being generous). edit. Forgot he was recruited from there so I will take your point on that one
