  1. He is small, yes, but he plays a different role to Kos. Kind of like saying why did the Doggies recruit Weightman when they already had Caleb Daniel
  2. I think this is more system-related than personnel-related.
  3. Nah I thInk he has more dimensions that that. I think they see him further up the ground as a connector. That’s why I query whether we take Kolstrup if we snagged Watson as Kolstrup appears strong as a high half forward delivering it in
  4. Current plan appears Windsor (6) then Tholstrup (11) but I wonder if we look at a different type of player with pick 11 if we manage to get Watson in earlier?
  5. Cal’s latest mail is that we’ve offered (or will) Pick 6 and F1st for Hawthorn’s pick 4 in a bid to get Watson. He didn’t indicate whether he believed this would be successful or not.
  6. “From the 4 minutes-in-total of TAC Cup highlights I’ve seen on some grainy YouTube footage, here is my assessment of all 120 players in the draft pool and where they will fall on the evening”
  7. Young lad surely named after a cold tin so I’ll be going with ‘tinny’ as his nickname. Might even have one lined up to consume as they call out his name.
  8. Plenty of nickname options, I’m favouring Knotty though (or Harry if he slides down the board)
  9. Went on a fishing trawler with Jaka somewhere out that way also
  10. Or 6 for: Wet Toast future first + 3rd rounder this year
  11. Agree but perhaps plan A for the acquisition of 11 was more about an attempt to bundle something up for pick 1. Plan B is a bundle for pick 3. Plan C is a good quality young player with 11. Plan Q is reeling in Demattia
  12. He looks short in the clips
  13. warming to the idea of this guy. The draft isn’t for finding an immediate solution (Nick Daicos and a very-select few others are an exception to the rule) so we should have an eye on building for the future and May’s end (and highly likely Petty departure) is the obvious issue over coming years
  14. Looks like a nipple protector
  15. Likely because he is the only bloke that does them that either isn’t getting reliable mail or isn’t copying people who get reliable mail
  16. Every phantom draft has Watson gone before our selection at 6
  17. On top of what @old55 said, there will also be something special about being wooed to become the first marquee players for the first club in Tasmania’s history.
  18. I have an inexplicable desire to purchase some steel and mesh
  19. We’d have to be looking at him as a mid/frwd option - no way Lexer and May would welcome a Leake in the backline
  20. Sounds like an English soup
  21. Apols if this has been covered but Meth Coast social media account joking about the weakness of offers for pick 1 is weird.
  22. Not an expert in government policy, obligations or lobbying but I reckon there would be many examples of ‘grossly inequitable’ funding of sporting clubs. I coach a junior, inner-suburban football team. Our club is huge and heavily -subscribed but our facilities are beyond awful, we barely get a cent from the government. When we play the teams in ‘emerging suburbs’ the disparity in facilities is mind-boggling. Some of these joints are better than Marvel.
  23. From what I have read, no reputable phantom drafts have happened yet. Cal Twomeys latest one was a ‘rankings list’ which is different to a phantom draft (doesn’t consider team needs etc - just a list of best players). Just because he isn’t ‘ranked’ inside the top 6 doesn’t mean they don’t believe he will go within the top 6. The reliable phantom drafts typically drop a few days out from the draft
  24. Norf will be doing everything in their power to make Wet Toast think Curtain won’t get past pick #3. and Wet Toast will be doing everything in their power to make Norf think that the Eagles have convinced Curtain there is a warm bed for him back home if he gets chosen by a Vic club. Fascinating game of poker.
