Matthew Lloyd Worried About the Dees in 2024
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
In other news, David King and his iPad don’t reckon we’re top 6. Fairly sure it is just minesweeper on his iPad though and he just makes up footy stuff. -

Would barely get a look at it with the way we move the ball forward. -
Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He also has $3m+ owing him on his contract so the above comment combined with his choice of words in being ‘medically retired’ suggest to me he was making sure there is no stuffing around when it comes to a salary payout in full. -
Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement

Thats my evening (and weekend) sorted then: 12 slabs of beer, third quarter of the 2021 Grand Final on repeat and a box of Kleenex. The Kleenex is obviously for the tears. -
Not quite sure what you are expecting when you say ‘compensation’ but I would expect we would be able to remove his salary from the salary cap and a spot would be opened up on the list ala long term injury protocol

Matthew Lloyd Worried About the Dees in 2024
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is what Lloyd said on the eve of the 2023 season (three of these sides made finals, two of them made a prelim and both weren’t far off playing each other in a grand final). Teams that can’t win the flag North Melbourne, West Coast, GWS, Essendon, Adelaide, Hawthorn, Gold Coast, St Kilda, Carlton. -
Would’ve thought by sheer weight of exposure that at least once the ball just falls in your lap

Almost 50 CBAs for Nibbler + Tommy Sparrow for zero clearances 🥴

LIKES; - K Brown did some good things - Caleb showed something from the 3rd quarter (albeit disposal and decision making a bit iffy but to be expected for first game at the level) DISLIKES - we looked awfully slow when we turned the ball over. No run. Tigs generally stayed wide and even then they put together chains of possession with next-to-zero presssure. Yes it was a scratch match but for a team that prides itself on being difficult to play against (and for a team that has a growing reputation of rolling over in important games) it was the absolute worst case scenario for mine, injuries aside

Sorely needed at HBF based on our decision making and execution off half back in the 1s earlier
-
I think there were (and are) enough worrying signs against a second string outfit to warrant some panicky posts, pre-season or not.
-
Caleb getting involved this quarter. Kynan Brown done a few good things. Less tackle today than an empty fishing box though.
-
Our kicking and decision making is sub VFL-2nds level today. Could only assume they’ve shunned ball-work for running in the off-season but we’re getting run off our feet so that can’t be it.

Holy spit Kossie

Not even round zero and max is already having brain fades

Koschitzke is a good addition for them

Petracca: "When the pressure mounted... we crumbled"
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really liked the fact his (theirs) attitude is ‘it is easy to fix’. I gleaned from his comments that the team have talked about this and have an actionable strategy to address it - only time will tell if that works but half the challenge is making them all believe they can control the outcome. -
The Dees Incredibly Frustrating to Watch
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
A lot of talk about our ‘forward half connection woes’ but we had the second best % in the league and only scored, on average, 3 points per game less than Collingwood. Is the issue less about game plan/ personnel and more about the fact we’re too often on the bad side of these ‘small margins’. Not sure why or how but Collingwood consistently seem to do better in those clutch moments (and I don’t think it is purely skill related). -

The Dees Incredibly Frustrating to Watch
The Jackson FIX replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just watched the clip and heard this from Kane: “there’s no real star-power in that line-up”. - We’ve had 2x top 10 finishers from in the Brownlow Medal in each of the last 3 years - we’ve had an AFLCA player of the year in the last 3 years - we’ve had a Norm Smith Medallist in the last 3 years - we’ve had a player kick 6 in a grand final in the last 3 years *none of the above includes Max Gawn, Kossie Pickett or Steven May. Old mate shares some truths sometimes but you really have to sift through a lot of sewerage to find them.- 102 replies

We lost all of our 4 most important games in the past 2 years, with the lead in 3 of those games (and very close in the 4th). You’d be hard-pressed to find anything more frustrating than that. -
This is absolutely correct.
