  1. Don’t agree with that. I doubt Josh Gabeilich is peddling this story off the back of a phone call from Lade’s manager claiming the club loved him. It’s a possibility, yes, but it is also a possibility (and a more likely one in my opinion) that the footy club is leaking the information as part of their ‘plan B’ in the event Buckley turns us down. Much easier to sell the Plan B option to the fans, sponsors and footy world if there is an existing narrative about the high calibre of candidates in the process.
  2. Keeping Nathan Buckley off the market is the ‘win’ they’ve earmarked? I would be genuinely surprised if the matter is even getting a mention in the boardroom (or behind closed doors) at AFL House.
  3. King/Kelly/Gia; “why would we go through this Claytons process only to lose to Buckley who is the Winx in this field” Guerra; “Tassie are still sniffing about, so he isn’t a lock…. REGARDLESS, we will flip the narrative of losing anyway by boasting about the quality of your presentation before we announce the winner” Genius, really. Skipworth thought he was protecting his reputation by pulling out but maybe he has inadvertently given the competitors for his next gig a leg up
  4. This is great. Assuming the snakepit will sit to the south of zone 6?
  5. 3-ish months/more than half the season? Besides, not a huge consideration in modern fixturing.
  6. If we get Buckley good chance we get Pies in Opening Round at the G next year.
  7. I wasn’t too fussed either way on Windhager now I’m desperate for him to get to us
  8. Demons diamond. Half backs pushing up into the contest. Arguably got us to a prelim ahead of schedule.
  9. Just read somewhere tonight StK have upped the offer to Windhager. Don’t know what to
  10. Not quite following the ‘better kick’ logic for a lockdown small. Regardless, his strength is hunting the pill - I just don’t think he has the speed or defensive consistency to sit on the most dangerous small forwards in the comp. I think people see his ferocious tackling and think that makes him elite defensively (which I don’t believe it does).
  11. They’re just trying to find a time that suits his, his mum’s and the club’s diaries.
  12. I’m with Gator. He is clearly a poor set shot at goal but oddly his field kicking is pretty good
  13. I didn’t think the umpiring was a factor at all
  14. Both sides last night looked quick. But Adelaide kept thumping the ball into a Collingwood wall across half back or when they kicked it deeper there was congestion and Collingwood were well set up to deal with it. Conversely, Collingwood often had a Pagan’s paddock type set up with Elliot (or other) running into an empty forward line . Or, when they dumped the ball onto the boot deep from stoppage it seemed to find one of their players cheating out the back. Haven’t seen the stats but is Collingwood just able to force the turnover and move it quicker than other sides?
  15. Wouldn’t imagine Adelaide would be offering up overs for McVee, he’s a small piece in their puzzle.
  16. We can’t afford anything. We need to get rid of big names, not attract them.
  17. where is the line for the soft cap drawn? Director of football included but ‘head of strategy’ not? Feels rortable. Jimmy is from Geelong, he’ll bring his rort book
  18. I’m not on board with the narrative that Oliver is now the good guy and Trac still isn’t. One brought the club to its knees because of extremely poor personal behaviour. The other sustained near-fatal injuries representing our club and had ongoing trauma from that. I’m glad Oliver appears to be pulling his in but the ongoing pile-on on Trac isn’t cool. I have a pragmatic view that it is worthwhile considering trading Trac but that has nothing to do with his attitude or behaviour.
  19. Interestingly (well I thought it was interesting) he doesn’t create his recipes, someone does it for him. He’s like Milli Vanilli
  20. He could be the next Nat Fyfe if his hands get stickier in the off-season
  21. Is that because he had to repeat grade 5 several times?
  22. The conspiracy theories around Caro / AFL / Gale being in cahoots are tin-hat ridiculous.
  23. If he is truly on the fence I’m thankful Caro is surfacing that now. It’d be a distaster if he turns it down late in the process and all of the decent assistants have pulled out because they assumed it was a one-horse race. If he isn’t on the fence and he/Melbourne are all in then we don’t need to worry about what Caro says.
  24. I often think about that and during our short-lived period of dominance always watched for signs of similar arrogance during the team song. Really didn’t like it.
