  1. If this was the other way around we would be carrying on. Nothing to answer for he actually missed the footy by a couple of cms. Footy is in a bad spot if these incidents become suspendable. Next it will be a knee to the head in a marking contest
  2. Yes, but that's not the actual case. A 28 year old 50 game player that has burnt his old team. Not many lining up for him i wouldn't think. just hope dees play hard ball and give up nothing for him. he isn't worth anything
  3. yeh, im not sure he is wanted like Jackson. Let him walk like Marting did to Carlt back in 2019. I just really don't like this, he isn't close to our best side. And the way he is leaving Adel if true, is messy
  4. Do we need to trade, he is out of contract and want's to leave? Crows have no bargaining power here
  5. Yuck Yuck Yuck, lazy footballer and poor attitude. Wants to take screamers all the time and always puts his hands up when he team mates don't kick to him. Don't need this position and he is 28. don't see it

Yup, id be fine with that. that exactly the type of back up we need.

And they wont be on a 4 year deal, back up rucks get short deals which is why they move around. if we get a ruck in it will be a cheap option but a solid ruck, they are never great around the ground but usually pretty competitive in the ruck contests. They also have Verrall developing in the VFL. The only reason they would spend money is if they don't think he will cut it. From what i have seen from the 19 YO he looks pretty good in the early stages of his career. Unless we go for a Chol type who is the Ruc/Fwd type, then you will have to spend a little bit. Which i don't mind that option. But not his contract which would have to be around the $1mil mark over the next 2 years

I doubt we are in the market for a 500k+ ruck, back up rucks don't get much love, hence why they are the ones who move clubs a lot

No over the 4. Recon id be a even bigger story if he was on 2.6 for a year

I have said it before on here that we won't be paying any of Grundy's contract but here is Cal Twomey on SEN yesterday: “The other reality is is that he’s contracted as a Demon so a trade has to be made that satisfies them as well. “Melbourne doesn’t have to pay a dollar if he goes, there’s no way this is going to be a three-club arrangement paying for Grundy if he does leave. “Grundy has an agreement with Collingwood and an agreement with Melbourne at the amount. Melbourne and Collingwood don’t have an agreement. “If he were to leave, the club that is taking him on would be taking on all that’s left from his Melbourne salary.” Just so people are informed, we basically will have 2.6m free in our salary cap if we trade him. 🤑 Also makes the trade easier to do, a club is getting a top 5 ruck for $650k a year. It's a bargain and you can see why we took a chance on it.

Yeh they got lucky with JUH too, the rules changed the next year. Yeh i get that but also remember that GC, GWS and the lions are the top 3 assisted clubs by the AFL. So really who is paying for it? Just think the rules should be the same, maybe some other sort of incentive like more of a discount but they can't be matched if they are in the top 20

I actually think we don't play Grundy, Gawn will dominate Cox all over the ground. bit of a tougher tap match up but he is so average as a footballer.

It's actually amazing how many players stuff up after a hanger, must be all the energy pumping through them. I was only thinking the other day id love to see a stat on plays after a hanger! that's a lot of footage to go through though.
  16. Reid will go 1 and 2 will be Walters who is an academy player. Then its Duursma, he is a powerful goal kicking Midfielder in the mold of a Petracca/Dusty but bigger. Many have him going three as Walters will essentially be soaked up by GC later picks. Curtin is only linked to 1 because he is a WA boy and the eagles want him, he isn't as highly rated as the others you have named. It does all depend on who WC take with 1, if they keep it and who NM take with their pick and compo pick for McKay which we don't know what it is yet. If they have 2 picks before us they will most probably take Duursma i think

every club puts $$ into them though. but for some reason SA, WA and Vic don't get to keep theirs unless its outside the top 40. Like Mac Andrew
  18. Travy14 replied to Stiff Arm's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I did forget about the 20% which is a joke! Anything after pick 60 is barely worth 100 points and after 74 its 0 and no club wants anything outside 50 this year so half those picks are useless besides points. if they can split 28 possible. it looks like Chol is out the door too which will bring a pick in all be it not a great one. I'm super keen on Reid or Duursma, but i also don't have the best track record of picking young guns. In the past i was super keen on Parrish and Weightman. We ended up getting Oliver and Kossie.

I think it will take at least 4 and 5 for Pick 1. Just gotta look at the offers for pick 1 in the past, last year NM got pick 2 and 3 and the year before they got offered 3 first rounders by a couple of clubs. Reid is said to be the best number 1 in a few years, think if you can get it then go for it. Might be late picks back but not with much. Experts are saying the draft might only go for 50-60 picks this year.
  20. I really really like Duursma, but he looks like he will go 2 or 3

Yeh true, to be fair once Lynch joined rich he was never getting a game. Handy to have on the list, can play forward and ruck for the right price id like him.
  22. Travy14 replied to Stiff Arm's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Suns do not have enough points, 3 of their academy players will go in the top 10. GC have 4,191 points Jed Walters will go at pick 2, and then if the other 2 go at 9 and 10(I'm doing the least possible) it's 5,381 points. they simple have to trade pick 4. Even if they keep it and say Walters slips to 4 they will still need 4,898 points with the other two going at 9 and 10. even if one slips out of the top 10 and goes 12 to 13 its less than 100 points difference. We 100% should try get into that pick and hope that Duursma slips, this kid looks like a Petracca 2.0

He is a perfect back up if cheap, but i don't think his contract would be that cheap. And the reason he wants to leave is because he want's to be a B22 player. I'm not sure he would make our Starting 22, there is a forward spot up for grabs. He just screams to me as a player that needs to have an AFL player lifestyle at the club and away from the club, needs to switch on a bit and optimise his potential. Could our program unlock that? Could fill a spot until Jefferson is ready.
  24. The Sub, who does the panel think will be the sub? i think its between Laurie and Smith. Smith for me is the perfect sub, can swing him to either end of the ground when needed and he will do a job. I think he has done enough over the past few weeks to hold his spot though, and especially with Melksham going down. Laurie has a bit of class about him and is growing with each game, i think he is going to be a very valuable player for us when he gets a run at it at the top level. But that might be next year.
  25. What does everyone think will happen on our list? I'm thinking: Grundy - Traded Harmes - Traded if interest there JJ - lose to free agency Tomlinson - Traded Melksham - Retire Hibbard - Retire Dunstan - Not offered a new contract Ben Brown - Retire (may stay on the list and continue his AFLW coaching career with his contract as payment) That is 7-8 List changes which is a lot so I don't think they will all happen. Some may also seam harsh but got to be ruthless. Is a couple of other young guys that haven't shown much in the VFL but i can't see to many more list changes other than these, they will probably keep them and hope they benefit from another year of development. We will more than likely carry a couple of SPP selections into next year.
