Trade Targets
We haven't gone for back ups. We thought Billing, Hunter, McAdam ect were going to be straight into our B22. We have kids that are going to take over, Windsor, Rivers, Kossie, Kolt and the like plus some more draft picks over the next couple of years. But our list lacks depth.

We need to pick pick a couple like this IMO, this year has shown that our "next in" guys aren't as good as what we had in Harmes, Dunstan and Jordon. Another to look at it Davies from GC. As long as the trades don't cost much and we are paying them what they are worth then we need to grab one or two of these guys.

I hope you're right, i'm more going on the reports from their draft years, Talent is great but you need the work horses too, Browns father is proof of that.

100% Agree, i have huge wraps on Kolt, he reminds me a lot of Petracca at the same age. Windsor looks amazing and exactly what we need. JVR i think will be a premo forward of the comp. I'm not as optimistic on Brown, sort of the same boat as Woewodin, they don't have all the talent but sound like they are work horses which you do also need. Agree with McVee and Howes, both can be future midfielders for us. And now the news of AMW this week, good luck to him.

I loved all of them, i thought Jay Kennedy-Harris was going to be a star. And was a big fan of Billy Stretch too.

there is a lot in there, Toumpas as well. Kent, Jones, Terlich, Kennedy-Harris, Baker, Stretch, McDonald He isn't bad but i just don't think as good as others think. And at the time of the draft players are different to what they are now, everyone was scared of Curnow because he was done drink driving and had some off field issues, no club would say no now. He is good at his job, but development is more important.

he has been there since 2012, wish it wasn't true. But the Dees faithful do put him in too high a regard IMO

Don't get me wrong i love JT, but he has had as many misses as hits since he has been there. Development and coaching is more important.

Oliver doesn't want out. Its a pipe dream trade but if he did want out and it cost us draft capital it might be worth it. Tomlinson would be a good fit for them too. he is out of contract but he actually would be perfect for them. I don't think this will happen but if there is a chance i hope they are picking up the phone to his management

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/06/25/the-speculation-surrounding-st-kilda-ruckman-and-the-club-that-should-be/ Tom Morris reporting that Rowan Marshal is not all that happy at Saints. I know the duel ruck set up with Grundy didn't work and has left some people scarred, but Ro-Mo is a genuine fwd threat and can play that role, as well as giving Max a very good chop out in the ruck. Will cost a lot to get him, but could it be worth it?

PODCAST: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
Good to get back on the winners list And i'm happy to see our old game style back! i don't care about the long bombing to the pocket. That was an extremely bruising and hard game of footy, Roos really came to play. We are lacking class and polish especially now without Trac so i think we need to play these grinding games of footy. Do you guys think we faded out in the last quarter because of the way the game wa played, or could it be that familiar trend that happens to teams after a bye,? Also what do you think this game could do in terms of impact on this weeks game v Bris, i was already worried but now even more so after a tough physical game against the Roos.

Harrison Petty
So like he did in 2021? he was an integral part of our premiership backline. I understand why we have moved him. But he is a defender
-
Harrison Petty
Petty IMO is our May replacement, he isn't a fwd and never has been.

Not disputing Gawn slowing down. As for Goldy he is going fine yes, but Draper is only just coming back from injury and Wright is a Full Forward so not great comparisons. And its fine for everyone to point at Goldy and say how he is still going etc etc, but he is averaging 10 disposals 2 marks and 24 hit outs per game. He isn't in the top 15 rucks in the comp. If we get someone Like a ROB it may enable us to extend Max's career, and have a solid back up if like pretty much all ruckman, Max's body does give up. This gives us a solid ruck until a Verrel comes on or we find a different ruck.

100% hope so, but we need a backup. Goldy had Xerri and now has 2 at Ess. we have nothing else atm.
-

No young rucks take over in 2 years. Which is why we are going to need a stop gap like ROB.
-
Trade Targets
Purely as a back up and maybe get a couple of years out of him untill White comes on(if the AFL dont screw us). But O'Brien is clearly on the outer at Adelaide and is a solid AFL ruck, think he would be very handy, he probably wouldn't leave to be a second ruck but who knows

PODCAST: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
G'Day Gents Very very disappointing month. Goody had built a contested hard nosed style of football that complimented our mids perfectly, Viney, Petracca, Oliver could get down and dirty and do what they do best. It's clear that he has tried to implement forward hand balling into our game. But it doesn't suit our list and quite frankly a lot in our team are not good at hand balling, the amount of times a player has to stop his momentum to wait for the ball to arrive is frustrating. The players look lost with this new system and haven't bought into it fully i don't think. My question is, we have been top 4 for 3 years and last year lost 1 final by 7 points and the other by 2, the first with a makeshift forward line and the second with no forward line. Why have we made such a drastic change to our game style when were were that close? and it is a drastic game style change, handball more, posses the ball more, use the corridor more. I feel Goody and Co have jumped at shadows a bit here. We tried to go back to old Melb a bit this game but this clearly confused the players and they look confused and lack confidence. We are now fighting to make finals and fighting to find which style of football we want to play, that's not a good position to be in at this stage of the year with the ladder as tight as it is. Have a good week off guys you have earned it!

Ned Moyle
Like this idea, another one we could look at is Ned Reeves at the Hawks. He is a big boy nd reminds me a lot of max in his early days. only 25, were not gonna get another max but he could be a good guy to come in, give max a spell through the year and learn off him ready to take over in a year or 2 or 15 🙏
