Yes it was, and is something to aim for. "Controlling and Domination", are best kept only for the sporting fields, within reason. With the AFL playing No Favourites, RE TV time-slots, and for the big game arrangements. "Controlling and Domination" are 'gladiatorial' at their worst. and have tsaken the innocence of most in the past 2000 years. Including the abuse of children under the heavy Cloak of church secrecy.

I think SWYL means that the English rock bands enabled whites around the world, to aid giving African-American musicians more notoriety and acceptance, and love. And so humanising them within Our minds. Freeing us to allow and engage, love and respect them purely for their talents. Particularly Via Radio, more-so than TV. As a youngster/teenager, I was ignorant to what race most musicians were, just enjoying the lyrics, music, mood, and feel of the songs. The 60's was a time of growth, of creativity, of change, of growing education, and of enlightenment. It was, "the dawning of the Age of Aquarius". literally.

My father was a music lover, 'Satchmo' was one of his favourites, and so I was exposed to the music and to an attitude of 'equal', regarding peoples. Kung-Fu the series was a favourite. .

Yep. thanks 'ht'. Why You Probably Shouldn't Say 'Eskimo' Confused about the word Eskimo? It's a commonly used term referring to the native peoples of Alaska and other Arctic regions, including Siberia, Canada and Greenland. It comes from a Central Algonquian language called Ojibwe, which people still speak around the Great Lakes region on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border. But the word has a controversial history. (Editor's note: And that's why it's not used in the stories on Greenland that NPR has posted this week.) People in many parts of the Arctic consider Eskimo a derogatory term because it was widely used by racist, non-native colonizers. Many people also thought it meant eater of raw meat, which connoted barbarism and violence. Although the word's exact etymology is unclear, mid-century anthropologists suggested that the word came from the Latin word excommunicati, meaning the excommunicated ones, because the native people of the Canadian Arctic were not Christian. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/04/24/475129558/why-you-probably-shouldnt-say-eskimo

Wasn't it seen as a husbands right to have sex with the wife, even if the wife didn't want to. Wasn't this sanctioned originally by churches, and then in law.? Or do I have this one wrong

It's a lot about tolerance, imv, SWYL. We were brought into a world where things were done in an expected way, without much question. "kids should be seen and not heard", was an earlier concept, Pre us. That started to change with the 50's and, mostly 60's/70's students. Education started to elevate minds out of the mire delivered by, imv, narrow religious teachings. Like 'men should just be in the field working', 'women should be in the home'. Indigenous black races were seen and treated as lesser beings. As were other cultures different to christianity. Christianity imv is more ,'romanesque'', subtly 'Gladiatorial' . They (religious leaders) set the boundaries, the confines, the templates, to which monarchists and politicians bowed. And then lay the laws and themes of the lands, they controlled. It is with the churches that responsibility for all these in-human actions have taken place. Like 'Terra nullius', removal of children from families, 'cultural genocide' of our 1st Nation peoples. And more broadly over the oceans, general racism against other 'races'.

I think we would have the partners to help... but we should have already had been meeting, to workout the requirements and layouts of buildings for Admin; Footy dept; Training and Medical rooms; Board room; Function rooms and cafe/kitchen amenity. The requirements of what the club would need now, and how they could be rearranged for different sites. prior to final decisions on a location. That would have been a shortcut to being almost shovel ready, and the Pre Design plans and engineering concepts. The thing is, I don't think we've done anything more than just chatting about, and possibly looked at Yarra Park north, and may have had some concept sketches drawn, that would be my guess. I feel that the club thinks its too far off, and never really gets serious about it. Port wold work but only n competition with Casey fields. which we already have. Unless we want to undo our alignment which ci think would e another back step as we are so far down the path with them now. We went to Casey because its a whole region of new growth, and we do need that. - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - We have to have our presence at Godsch's;.. And we certainly can fit two ovals on that space, if we send the rectangular stadium up the street, or across the road to the Clay tennis court site, with minor modifications to fit the Storm's playing surface over there. We are Mad, if we do not snap up Gosch's for ourselves, and it will, (with 2 ovals) leave eddies single oval venture in our wake. It gives us Prominence, Exposure from Rail and from Freeway and Punt Rd; it gives us the easiest access to our Hub. Via these same transport essentials, and and easy access to the Mcg. It will help us to regrow our supporter base from the exposure and ease of attendance. and also for the same reasons will give us some cash flow from attendances, and to our clubs store front. We are already working-out on the best piece of real estate to suit us, and we don't seem to realise its potential; because it seems no-one can visualise the concept and its structures. And also some existing supporters just have never adopted the idea of Casey. I think there is a certain snobbery with this, and also a lazy reluctance to being prepared to travel, to our 2nds side. These types just don't want anything to change at all. Even if we die because of it, after they pass.

This is exactly what I'm thinking, Re the Freo match. Place it in the dead heart. Warm, no humidity. And we get to do our indigenous round thing, with our friends of the centre.

but eddie cleaned the club up some years back, starting with the cheer squad, wasn't it. Or was that just the outside, with a black and white wash.?

ssh, you wake old man Emu Bitters talkin like that. -
Mainly, I think due to poor outside run and pace. Skills as well. We have addressed some of this.
-
We as a team, to the man... need to be more aggressive on-field. Starting with all senior players outside of Vanders, Viney and Harmes.
-
No, they want to get jobs up and going for, employment, employment, employment. Recession time is THE Time, for governments to spend up on getting infrastructure going. But they want shovel ready, as the first-in, first-served. IF.... we had already had things simmering on the back-burner with plans drawn up, we would be right in the box seat.

You wouldn't like to see Tracca be more aggressive, and start to use is power.?

What happens to the draft in 2020
MyFavouriteMartian replied to deelusions from afar's topic in Melbourne Demons
In a compromised hit and miss draft like this, what would an improving ANB get do you think, from a SA club.? Now we have Langdon and Tomlinson, and Bedford coming thru, we have more gut runners on our list. -

I do think we got an advantage, being able to have a full-scale practice match on the 'G'... a positive, out of a pain. -
I think I knew who you were referring to. I think we are better off without him. I wouldn't go back on this one.

Oliver: The Forgotten Superstar?
MyFavouriteMartian replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Call me stupid, but I would want him to learn to play differing parts of the ground. I want him to be damaging whichever spot he plays. You saw how 1st year player Matt Rowell ran the ball, and played generally. -
