  1. What, your angry and scared of what happened to us in our first prelim (2018) in how long, as we forged ahead too soon that season. Because the season panned out for us, and we caught Geelong napping. And we pantsed them. without HoGan. Last year was, last year; our horror season; and now we are starting to adapt and play kids. This year will no doubt see a couple retire, and others soon behind them next year. We have to play the kids now, as they show they're ready. Rivers is so far, and Pickett's doing well. atmo.
  2. We brought in a type of player who will run 2 way running. Because our young Mids cannot do it all, and are spoilt. Never being challenged for their place in the team since they arrived, because we had no one else to play instead of them. Our young Mids only now, are starting to do a bit more on defensive side.
  3. SWYL your paranoid with MfcSS. Because you are scarred, and worried. If you continue trying to pull this rebuild under, you will do untold damage. Exactly what you do not want to do.
  4. Hah, you got no idea, have you. We just recruited 2 gut runners, plus a tall forward hard runner, as well as working beautifully with our new fitness/conditioning manager. Set to be one of the better hard running sides. Shorter Qtr's suit power players and quick players, who often struggle for endurance and run out of gas during longer Qtr's. Our advantage we setup for, has withered away this year; and brought other young teams up a notch.
  5. Sadly our ambition is to develop the kids and team. Ahead of just winning. We could be playing all our experienced players and playing better, but for nil development.
  6. Against Carlton we switched off. A Melbourne trait. But we managed fortunately to switch back on again, just in time to stop them. And we did stop them. We didn''t panic, we just stopped them. Against the Cats they caught us off balance at the start, they apparently anticipated what we were doing, and caught us pants down, and scored against us early. Max was asleep a couple of times. We reeled them in but ran out of time. Remember. we were all set to be an endurance team. And ten CoVid hit and the games were shut down, as was training. And then the AFL in their wisdom shortened the Qtr's. The shorter Qtrs suits quick running teams with youth.
  7. We haven't put a step wrong since Roosy and PJ were here, other than giving too much for Lever. We over-payed, but we god a good player. It's the what-ifs from the one draft pick that's in question, of what it could have been used for. maybe for another trade player brought in or a draftee/s. That's all. Other than that, we've done all that really could be done, other than being further advanced with our home-base. Rebuilding a team list is never a straight line graph on an incline... because of attrition and inexperience, replacing experience. Our current board, and footy dept are quite stable, and doing a strong job.
  8. I thought Hannan was quite good, on first watch of the game. Being out so long doesn't seem to have hindered him too much; just a bit underdone, but I thought his decisions were good, sharp. Needs a decent gallop.
  9. He's a high forward or chb, as insurance, in case of our young forwards get injured or are struggling. His main go is that old Tmc role, of rolling high up thu the midfield, taking grabs and linking up to our running players. That's his go... he's not a stay at home CHF; and not a power-forward by any stretch of the imagination. He's a floater type. Who can also play a bit if defence.
  10. If Jackson & Brown get selected in the same forward-line, it will be Weirde. Surely that can only happen if we're, 'Running on Empty' .! I hope Weide can 'Stay'.. !
  11. Rover written all over him. and class IMO.
  12. Why do you think we recruited a cheap 28Yr old key forward who has a good tank and marks overhead but not so much contested, and plays small.? Whilst at the same time we've had TMc put on upper body mass.? Why a 28yr old.? 'DD.?
  13. I don't agree 'LT'. When we saw our ball movement in the 2nd Qtr, it looked fantastic, and we hit targets. Connecting up with the forwards. Our mobility and some speed is crucial to this, and as we get better with more skilled players added to our team, it will really show. At the moment we have plenty of slowish players of so so disposal skill, and this hinders our form, and our team confidence. It is happening, in front of us, but these kids need some time to click with the players around, them and Vica-Verca. You can tell by looking back at the type of players we've been selecting in the past couple of drafts. We've started to select smaller players and more skilled types. And we've traded into our list, more mature types who have certain skills to fill our weak spots. gut running. So we've past the re-build stumps first part and are now recruiting finishers and polish. These kids will take a couple of seasons to get some knowledge/experience of AFL level footy. A couple of games here or there, and a couple off. A couple more again, and so on. Everything is in place, but whilst the team is being changed frequently, expect this inconsistency; because those players of 2018, are not the same players any longer. Hogan struggling to get a game. Watts, hmmn. Jonesy is getting on as we all know. AVB is just returning after being out all last year, and early this season, from a different injury altogether. Hannan just getting back again, Via a chronic knee. Sadly Petty, who I would have liked to see how he's playing, has a serious groin. Bennell has come over to us and is shaping well so far, because of Goody's chat to him. Same with others. Stay the course mate. Don't let that old MfcSS culture put you off. Because this is the first time we've been on the right track since Northey's days. .
  14. Its just form recovery now and the fact we are bringing in youth to replace Jones, Jetta, Hbbo, within the next 2 seasons, and Max Gawn who is 30Yrs of age in just 18 months time. So around 3.5Yrs will be about the end for big Maxy. And Maysy as well. He might go an extra year.? Its not Goody's fault these players are the age they are. But he IS doing something about that predicament right now. Or rather, the Footy Dep't are, doing something about this right now. It's not really Goody's decision. It's the selectors job and decisions, selecting these sides right now. His job is to do what he can with the sides he's allowed.
  15. What a classy goal by Chandler. Llots of efforts by Bennell.
  16. But Brayshaw potentially is more creative. As comparisons. The trick is to make both work hard for us
  17. They are not excuses SWYL. For us its our reality. Not even Carlton have been down so low as us in recent decades. And you know that, as you say it some times. Right now we are neck and neck with the blues in talent and development, but as you know, they don't have the ingrained culture issues that we do, of the past half century. The good teams you speak of still have the major part of they're old team structure and experience playing together. This gives then stability under pressure. And helps the kids and lesser lights to not panic, and make so many mistakes. We are coming from way-further-back than any other club, including Freo; oh and the Suns to a lesser degree. MfcSS.
  18. He showed yesterday, he's still got it..... and he still wants it, 'sons'. A little bit if negative critique, sometimes goes a long way. Similarly being dropped to long time players also gives them a rev up. see Hibbo yesterday. Too much backslapping can do a lot of damage, especially to young impressionable minds. And I have been guilty of the slapping in the past as well. see Hogan. Watts. gys, et al. Young payers have to retain their desperation...hunger.
  19. Is he. I think that's good. Our players who were given games easily a couple of seasons back, are lazier that they should be. So why not make them earn the main spots in the midfield, or anywhere else in the team.!
  20. To growth and learning to play the right way, to win. You cannot win a race when you can't even stand yet. The difference Jnr, is learning and growth. Our development. So yes Winning is second, to learning, growth, and teamwork.
  21. We saw yesterday in that 2nd Qtr what we can do when we click. Its what we're building towards, but under severe pressure, naturally it falters, because all players are still learning the style and also many are in their first matches, and not even AFL hardened. Our club/team/list is in transition, atmo We are shedding the old skin of past Era since 2008/10 period, which carries a lot of scarring. And our new breed is being put into the spotlight, that were not involved in those times. Hang in there because we are leaving the ways/attitudes of the !990's and 2000's, behind us.
  22. How do you know he's not doing the best game plan wen the players are still learning trying to implement it. And we take out our most experienced, to allow kids to play. And Jetta playing on 2Mtr tall players. before demotion.
  23. Did you watch all the games this week.? IF we were that bad, we would have been belted by 10 goals surely.? Other sides are struggling to score against the press/flood. And we've got kids playing in their first 3 games.
