  1. The players have to learn to do a number of things to counter the flood press strategies against us. It's not easy, and they will learn when they do. Obviously they know what to do, but them doing-it under pressure is totally different, to knowing. You cannot force players to be better, and its also a lot to do with team form as well, that confidence side of the equation. So with experienced players out, and kids in, it's even tougher to do what you want
  2. Yes, It is. You just Refuse to see it, because your view is only this year. The club is building, and getting close to a very good future team. with our 25yr olds and under.
  3. Its not the forwardline SWYL. It's the method of bringing the ball into the forward-line, that is 90% of the forwards issues. we bring te ball thru the midfield mostly unde the pump or we win a ball at centre bounce and bang it onto boot without any real vision or thought. Its all midfield functioning, and 'm sure that is why We brought in the saints old coach to help in this area. Its why we brought in Langdon and Tomlinson to help defend with hard running, and also attack. And we recruited recent seasons, small players to start to build our future forward half, with some skills and some pace. The plan is happening SWYL, but it isn't about this year is all.
  4. Wrong OD, and we have los 2 game and won virtually 2 games so far, and the kids are getting decenyt game time. Proof your wrong is Rivers, Pickett, so far. And Petracca's change of attitude last season into this, after much derision to push him; and now hes fitter and playing much better. Because of an attitude adjustment. Don't let your own impatient attitude, shoot all of us in the foot for our longer term
  5. And you profess to know how to develop a team, with few mature leaders and coming off years of bad losses; and a lot of kids coming thru over that period of time.? OD.? Take it from me, its nothing to do with game style, and all about just allowing players to grow into the game, as the main goal. winning is 2nd to learning atmo, because we just not good enough thru the whole list. Our better talents are all young and have to be played in a competive side. winning is the 2nd priority to these jids learning/developing. Look at our list, we are not in a premiership window right now with jetta and jones at the end, and maxy almost at the 30yr mark. IF we do not do this now; then when these 28Yr old to 30Yr olds retire, will be in a bigger hole, at that point in time. We have some cream talent now and that needs developing. If those who want us to go for this years flag now, then bring Nev and Jones back in, and put Harmes back into the guts, and Petracca back to half forward. Bit this will set us back, it will upset Jackson and Pickett, and other kids who need decent standard game to grow.
  6. The game plan is all about developing players; so some are out of best positions so others can develop. see brayshaw, harmes etc. If we want to develop Rivers into the team and Pickett into the team then some others have to suffer some change. Petracca into the Mids, means one other goes out to another spot. No.? Is this not a positive, Petracca's fitness, and form.? Jones is out so other kids are in. what a huge sacrifice for our future. See... we are not selecting for this years Flag. because we are not good enough to be it. Where do Rivers and Pickett develop when there isn't a decent 2nd tier competition for them. Where do Brown, Weide, Sparrow, and others develop properly. We are selecting sides now to develop young players, so we can become a power club for the next 5 - 7 Yrs. wWhich is what we need to do
  7. And it has SWYL. Owe got a snippet of our future in the 2nd half of 2018. We are now drafting better than ever over the past 25Yrs, and are now a club players would like to be a part of, once again. We have stability, and te players are learning, particularly the yonger ones coming thru. Of all people SWYL, you should know what The Tigers were like when they ate their own, and sacked anyone who didn't produce miracles O/night. It is happening and the right way... finally since the late 1980's.... the development. Which disappeared Mid 1990's. Too mana postors are stamping their feet atmo, all because of last years debacle season, which was about injury and health issues. We now have a fantastic fitness/conditioning person just started, and we recruited our socks off last season. Hang tight SWYL, we are back on track after a horror 2018. Where all players lost a lot of confidence/self-belief.
  8. Are you apart of the group trying to oust the cioach so we can bring some old boys back into the club... so we can be all back together again. I suppose you want Robbo as forward coach as well. Yze, Robbo and Brucey woocy. Fantastic, you lot will kill the club off. Trying to unsteady the ship, that is progressing, and finally recruiting better than we have in the past 25 Years.those old club culturee do not leave overnight and Roosy did not remove it all when he was with us. He just got our socks back on again, and up on our feet. And then he left us.
  9. Oh FFS... So now we're trying to be the Tigers off Old... are we.? get a clue you people. you obviously think our list is more advanced that it is/was, because of 2018. WAKE UP.!!! Our best players from back then are now 2 years older... and facing retirement, or have retired.
  10. I would like to see Salem on a wing again. Now he's on top of his medical issues. This way he can contribute to better F50 entries. So: with that move Tomlinson to CHB,. as a hard running attacking player. Who runs/carries, and delivers into F50, and then stays a kick behind the play. Put Salem onto that wing position; with occasional stints inside the mids. Have Langdon run hard 2 ways, and assist the defenders when the ball is with the opposition. sweeper. Put Clarrie and Brayshaw on notice, to bust a gut helping our defenders, when we don't have control of the footy.
  11. And how do you know his lack of development is not due to the ball delivery we give him, when in the seniors. Because we all know how bad our delivery into F50 has been. Is TMc's poor form due to the Weide's fault as well.? Our dysfunctional forward-line has been an issue since the turning century, & throughout the 2000's. Think back to us getting Miller, to add some hardness to our team. poor guy. Its been an issue delivering good footy into our F50 since at least 2001. We should look elsewhere to find fault at why we've been crarp in the front half for so long. #PS: Any forward-line can function well, when the team isn't placed under any pressure. And by the way when have we ever had hard nosed mids who run both ways, and defend hard against their opponents... None apart from our taggers.
  12. Composure 'in-close', is Mfc weakness, and has been for decades. Oli and Viney are as bad as ayone and they flick the ball off with little composure and thought. Just get ball, flick ball off. This is where we need the class in the midfield, to use the ball to real advantage. Its also the other mids role, to be in a position to receive the ball on the move, and away. This is our biggest weakness, IMV.
  13. Agree Wise. But these are the spots we worn for decades now. And its why we faltered in finals in the 90's and the 2000's. Because in our makeup we do not like being harassed. Mind you not many people do and lose composure. The swans did against the hawks in a Grannie not so long ago. Obviously we played into their hands by not spreading wide enough to separate them wider. As they did when they had the ball, they spread our midfield defencive structures easily. Allowing their teamwork to function.
  14. And mini bar Fritdge, as well Red. he was monstered by a giant octopus right in front of everyone, out at CHF; molested and man-handled, and nothing.! From the umps, nothing.
  15. Yeah, and so was I, as a CHB option, swingman.
  16. Is this the ruckman Himmelberg were talking about.?
  17. It might be time to me him out of the centre bonces, and give him an opponent, for him to be responsible for. Responibility is for Oliver to learn.
  18. He rushes too much, too often, sometimes needs more composure and look properly first, before disposing. Plays almost in panic mode. Needs more composure under pressure, so he can use his brain in a more damaging way for us.
  19. Not as a combo MF-c. Wright to play deep pocket with someone like Hunt at FF, and a small. TMc can get back to his old playing weight, play high, or leave. My vision, ideally would be for Wright in pocket alongside Weide, who would be the lead-out FF. Picket about them. A mobile smallish CHF (think Ryan Okeefe) playing high. And speed on the flanks.
  20. Yes of course, and If we cannot get an upgrade on our picks, we need to trade some in. One type was Rivers, another type was Jackson One other type, I'd like is PWright. That heavy ruck/forward who would hope can use his body weight to effect.
  21. It's perfect for us; and will be better than eddies little jaunt up the road. Now on that our social area should be between our oval and AAMI park. And we can earn monies after footy games at the Mcg; but also from passing trade after Stormers games as well. The AAMI stadium will be used frequently, and IF we setup next to AAMI, and we must keep our social area as far away from Punt Rd as possible, for safety reasons. We can make our club money from this type of Mfc venture, by thinking outside of our MfcSS boxes.
