  1. Giving we are being linked heavily with Leake and Windsor now when there will be key defenders available at both of our picks Im assuming we must rate Adam’s very highly.
  2. Starting to feel like a bit of a JT special isn’t it. Wasn’t even in Cals top 20 a few months ago. The more noise there is about us picking him at 6 the more it reminds me of the noise about Jackson coming up to his draft. If we were to pick him ahead of Curtain or Sanders it would show how highly we rate him. Have to admit I didn’t really notice him in the few Allies games I watched as I was focused on other players. Be interested to hear people’s thoughts on what position he would start off in should we pick him. Just going off his highlights he plays very like Fritter up forward. Can take a mark and good shot for goal. Is there room for two of those type in our forward line? Seemed to struggle to make his tackles stick a few times so might need work on that to play half back at AFL level.
  3. Pickett never went public with his want to return “home”. Nor did Ports list manager. The deal offered to Pickett never became public knowledge neither did what Port offered. Kossie didn’t go playing golf and giving interviews with Ports players during trade week. Cornes is a tool but the two situations are very different.
  4. Great work @spirit of norm smith I have been wondering if Hawks will pick Curtain with their f/s pick McCabe also being a key defender( haven’t seen him). Taking Ginnivan might mean they are less likely to take Watson I guess. If we do go for two mids with our two top picks as you have above I hope that either Dawson or Zakostelsky slides to 42 or we move up to get them.
  5. In a way we already set the price for Cats pick 8 with the deal we did to move up 3 spots from 14 to 11. Cats will want two first round picks and I’d be surprised if they would accept any deal that didn’t include a pick in the first 11. They will be looking for Adelaide’s 10 & 20. If we were to get their pick 8 I think we will have to offer pick 11 & F1. But we may need to do a deal with north for one of their later teen picks for our F1 first. Cal says they want to take 5 picks to the draft.
  6. I guess it will all come down to whether or not Curtain will be available at 6. North will be trying to make it known that they are interested in him whether they are or not. If our offer does get it done it’s a lot to pay for one player but it’s probably worth remembering that we put two of those picks(6&11)on the table for Humphrey last year. Along with the pick we used on Jefferson although I believe we were looking for a future second coming back. Obviously we didn’t think the two future picks would have been 6 & 11 but if all the hype is true about Reid he will be in a different class to Humphrey.
  7. He also said we are still looking to move up with 6 & 11 and that ourselves and Adelaide were interested in Cats pick 8. Also said that Windsor had move up some club boards and might go inside top 10 now.
  8. I thought from what he said that the above offer was still on the table but WC had said no to it. We have nothing more to give. North have also offered pick 2 and two late teen picks but want WC pick 23 as part of the deal. WC said no to this offer as well.
  9. You rate Curtain very highly though Pennant? I watched his highlights last night and highlights of some of the WA games. Looks very mobile, good kick and loves a tackle. I think him being available at 6 is our best possible scenario at this stage for a number of reasons- he would be best available and fit our needs but also he would give us much more options of trading up or out. Up for pick one or 3, or Cal mentioned last week that WC would probably put their future first on the table for him if we wanted to trade out.
  10. I’d be delighted if we got both. Think key defender is our biggest need so Curtain or O'Sullivan and mid is our second biggest need. Only saw Wilson play couple of games but was very impressed. Perfect for the modern game and our system. I can see both being already gone by our second pick though.
  11. Cats pick 8 will probably need to be traded out if they are hoping to pick 4/5 picks. If we can’t move up from 6 wonder will we try to improve from 11 to 8.
  12. I think the go home factor for Tassie lads will be greater than any other state. There will be enormous pressure on them to do so. Also great financial rewards and the AFL will create a clear pathway for them to do so. I listened to a couple of interviews Sanders has given. He comes across very well and a great professional. He’s father is massively involved in grass roots footy here in TAS. I think his flight risk is greater than other players for these reasons. Now we may get handsomely compensated if he does choose to go home but that’s not clear yet either.
  13. Yes I’m aware of that rpfc, and it all depends on how strongly JT rates the players available at 6 & 11 as oppose to who he would pick at 3. It’s also very rarely that you can move up the draft board without paying overs in terms of points. I was responding to a poster who asked what world a deal giving 6&11 for 3&23. To me that seems a reasonable trade. Don’t know if I’d do it and it depends on how we rate whoever at 3 but it’s hardly absurd.
  14. In the AFL trading world that deal is about right. Points are 3080 and 3049. Given you normally have to pay overs to move up, we paid almost 1000 points over to move up 3 spots form 14-11.
  15. PM Bangers has a new phantom up on BigFooty. Has us taking Curtain and DeMattia at our current picks.
  16. So who are you leaving out of the group, Watson or Sanders? I’m assuming Watson who I hope either the Hawks or Dogs pick before us.
  17. Agree with all of that but think O'Sullivan might be another one we consider with our first and I’d be happy to add Wilson to the list of possible players with our second. Agree it would take our future first to get Cats pick 8. It’s a lot to upgrade Leake, Windsor or Wilson to a Sanders or O'Sullivan.
  18. I kind of agree with you with the two tiers but feel there’s probably an area in the middle of both of them. I don’t think Caddy or O'Sullivan will be on the board at pick 11 so it creates the best available versus needs debate. I think in a perfect world we get a top midfielder and key defender. The dogs are meant to be interested in both Sanders and Watson. If they go with Sanders do we pick Watson or O'Sullivan? There'll be no key defender available at our second pick.
  19. Cal’s October rankings are out. For some reason( my stupidity probably) I can’t attach the link. He has Windsor and Leake rising up the board and Wilson slipping a bit.
  20. I rate Mckercher very highly and think he would be a great pick for us. My concern is if we trade up to get him we are paying massive overs that we won’t get back if he chooses to join the Tassie team. We have already paid overs to get pick 11 and would be doing the same to get to pick 3. I assume the AFL will give the Tassie team access to one out of contract player from Tassie at each team(same thing applied to Suns and GWS) and that the compensation will be whatever they decide is market value.
  21. He’s created a bit of a tricky situation for himself I think. I agree that it’s how he responds that matters but he’s coming off a foot injury and will probably be in the rehab group for most of preseason. I’d assume after what has happened over the past few weeks he would have some bridges to build and a super impression pre season where he gives 100% all the time would go along way to achieving this. His injury prevents this. Also it will be harder to be in great form at the start of the season with an interrupted pre season. His form early this season down back wasn’t great. Similar form will raise questions if he’s fully committed or already checked out. Hopefully he's foot injury doesn’t stop him being able to be ready to go round one and we can get him resigned.
  22. A “very bad strategy” drafting quality players that fill a need and will be available at our picks makes total sense. I could maybe agree with you if we were reaching or picking project players but the three keys (Curtain, OSullivan and Caddy) that are likely to be available at our picks are rated around our picks and by all accounts ready to play next year. Hardly a very bad strategy.
  23. With Smith about to be banned and Petty wanting out I think we can forget about pick 1 and Harley Reid. We already had a need for positions. Now even more so.
  24. Agree with all of the above and you put it far better than I could. Its not as though he didn’t have recent examples to work of. Both Jackson and Pickett had their heads turned while still having a year to run on their contracts. One stayed the other didn’t but both showed more respect to the club and fans by not going public and trying to force their way out.
  25. Lamb did say we are trying to move up the draft. I wonder if we might try to tempt Geelong with 11 and a future pick for pick 8 ? Allowing us to get Sanders and O'Sullivan
