Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
If we paid $400k in the first couple of years then I’d assume we would pay less in the final 2 as I think his contract tapers off then. Collingwood were able to win a flag while paying Grundy $300k and cap has increased since then. Bringing in a top 10 draft pick as part of the deal gives us wriggle room. The difference in wages between Langford and Trac would be around $1m a year at the min. I’d rather drop the money and get the draft capital.

Agree but if GC are a real option then our chances of getting better value for him increase as they have such a wealth of young talent on their books and incoming that they don’t value the picks as much.

I think that’s a fair deal. If we want to get good picks/player coming our way in the Trac deal then we are going to have pay a chunk of his wages. The cost to pay Flanders and a top ten draft pick would leave enough change out of what we are currently paying Trac to cover our end. Trac gets a shot a final/flag and chance to build his brand somewhere else, Suns( or Crows get player in to help them win now and we get two players ( back JT to get a good one with a top 10 pick either in this draft or the next) that will hopefully be around for the next 10 years. We have a great young crop but I would still like us to add more A grade young talent. If we can get a best 22 player and a top 10 pick I’m happy to cover some of his wages.

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
Add McAdam into that mix and we are paying for 3 forwards with the hope of getting one on the part at a time. Nuts. Pies list management has been streets ahead of ours lately. Only willing to offer a one year contract to a player who has busted his guts for them tells me they think he’s shot. A fit BM would be great for us but we can’t afford to be paying $1.5m to another forward to spend most of his time on the injury list. I’d rather see us build for the future.

If either Melbourne or Geelong are interested in trading Clarry this year it puts the new coach in an interesting spot while he’s working for both.

I’m a fan of his but he’s too old now. We need to be recruiting for the future not the next year or two.

Agree with all of the above, I feel that both situations were very different. Trac publicly and deliberately betrayed the club and fans to force through a move to a bigger club( the pies) to improve his brand. Very difficult for me to get back 100% on the Trac train after that. Clarry has had his issues but I don’t feel like he betrayed the club in the same way.

Who’s Playing Their Last Game In The Red & Blue tonight?
Agree, with the poor quality and amount of kids that are already tied to clubs in this draft I’m hoping we really attack next years draft before Tassie really compromised the following one. Hoping and praying JT remains with us to pick us some gems.

Trac looked unwell to me tonight. White as a ghost and paste looking skin. I’ve been in favour of trading him but it’s a hard call. If he goes he will be hoping a new head coach and kicking coach can get the best out of him and get him back to his best. Same if he stays

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
I really hope we don’t lose Clarry in the off season. Getting back to his best and would be gutting to see him in full flow for another team.

I hate losing to these [censored]. Hate losing to them.

Trade Targets
I liked him in his draft year. He finished his year really strong kicking 4 goals in the championship decider at Marvel. Looked at that stage as he was going to be a star. I only watched him once this year and he looked miles off it. No intensity or second efforts.

PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Not expecting a win but I’d take a bog performance from big Max to seal his eight AA and prevent Daicos getting 3 votes.

2025 22Under22 Squad
I counted 4, for some reason typed 2 and missed the 5th🤣. Can’t fix stupid.

Lions just won a flag and have 2 in that team. We have a long way to go.

Youth going forward
All depends on the cost I guess. If we could trade Trac to the likes of the bombers I’m happy to get a first round pick in this years or next years draft even if that means paying a large junk of his wages for a couple of years. I’m not in favour of trading our future first and a selection of second rounders to get into a highly compromised draft lacking quality. I’d rather try and fill a lot of holes over two off-seasons than a quick fix now.

Unless it’s a ruck I don’t think we should consider anybody over 24. Never mind a 32 year old who’s body is cooked.

NON-MFC: Round 23
Crows were already my favourites for the flag past few weeks. The way their defence stood up tonight and given that they can now let Burgess select which players to rest for the next 2 weeks before a home final makes me even more confident.

The List Manager Tim Lamb
I don’t buy into the we have a list that could/should be playing finals next year coming from the club and Paul Roos. Obviously I’d love to be proved wrong but our recruitment strategy for both new coaching staff and turning over the playing list MUST only be about building our next window not trying to reopen the one that has just shut.

NON-MFC: Round 23
Windhager 22 touches at 3/4 time going at 86%.

Farewell Judd McVee
Was Jack Martin from the Sins to Carlton not PSD?! It doesn’t happen often but that’s just because the club the players is leaving usually accepts a very average pick rather than getting no pick. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. At worst let’s hope he does what Nibbler did a nominate a state not a club.

The timing of Simon’s departure is good from a trade perspective. Allows us to be noncommittal on most players and see what offers come our way.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Bring back Roos and PJ to oversee FD recruitment process over the coming weeks and month's.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Not in favour of any of the old boys getting chance to prop up their retirement fund. Game had moved on and they all got sacked for a reason. Buckley- the speed in which McRae turned things around shows Bucks should have been an able to do better with what he had. Hinkley- not unlike Simon relies on man management rather than technical ability to get his team up once every few weeks. Horse- with his GF record and our recent straight sets record we may never win another final. 🤣
