I do it for 12 and their future second.

WC apparently interested in pick 7/8.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I post after his last game against the Pies that I thought he was getting back to his former self( 30 disposals at 86%) and that I would be gutted to lose him. I am gutted, but we move on. I can understand the decision though- but the way we have handled it is a [censored] joke and if we get a future 3rd rounder for him and still pay half his wages then somebody else needs to get there marching orders.

I’m with you adonski. Even in today’s interview he wouldn’t rule out trading into this draft with our future picks.

I’ve been in the trade Trac camp all season. For a few reason the main one is that we will get a good return for him to speed up our rebuild/renovate or whatever you want to call it. Picks 7&8 sounds like a fair trade to me(hold onto 24) although I would like us to improve our 2026 draft hand.

Would be a massive get for us. Been hoping we bring in a former quality key forward to mentor and coach our emerging key forwards. Fingers crossed.

So it was reported that it’s a once off change to allow for Tassie coming in a couple of years but Collingwood was the only team mentioned( their could be others) that it will effect. So it’s not relieve the administration burden I wouldn’t think Also I think your right about no club being refused a dispensation in the past( also just from memory) but that if the club in question can convince the AFL they are in a good place list wise to do so. The rule was brought in to save clubs from themselves and always bring young talent through. Given the current age profile of Collingwood their are the very reason the rule was brought in.

Gday BLWNBA, yeah I’m aware that clubs can now trade future first for the next two years, that’s not what I was referring to. Up until now all clubs have to use at least 2 first round draft picks every 4 years. The AFL have scraped that for this year to allow clubs( Collingwood was the only one mentioned that it will effect) to trade as though they have used their first rounders for the past few years!!!! Disgusting as it certainly won’t affect teams on the bottom of the ladder. Hope this explains what I meant a bit better.

Pick 9 this year and two future first?! Assume it’s if they pivot from Merret.

It certainly crossed my mind when I heard Morris introduce him. I guess we will never know. Hopefully we run a tighter ship from now on.

It’s actually a good listen. Maybe somebody can put up a link to it when it’s over

Jack Billing’s on trade radio now. interestingly he and Tom Morris seem to be good mates from when Jack was drafted to Saints as Tom worked there then. Couple of criticisms about his time at Melbourne. Probably deservingly so. One was development of young talent and the other that he got little or no feedback about what he was doing wrong or needed to do to get back in team or in his exit meeting.

Farewell Judd McVee
Let’s not forget that the pick we gave for Nibbler was the same pick we gave Adelaide for McAdam the year before. Pick 23 is a good outcome here, I think this year more than ever we need to look at the overall outcome of the trade period rather than individual trades as we will win on some and lose on others. The fact that we got this trade done so early has me thinking this pick will be part of a larger deal.

Might be a bit late to state our negotiating position but I think it should be that he’s free to a good home provided they pay his full salary or very close to it. How much we pay is then decided by the quality of the pick we get. I

They are going to need a bucket load of points for their academy players. May not get it done without one of their two top picks. Also I think it would be smarter for us to have a real crack at next years draft if we can’t get players as part of the deal.

I like everybody else would love BH to come in the Trac deal but really can’t see it happening. My guess is it will be 6 or 7 this year plus their 2026 first and a fringe player for Trac. We could add other elements to it such as throwing some second rounders in for one of their later first round picks or swap our 2027 2nd for their first.

This is what I would like to see us doing, however… This is what I think will happen.

Farewell Christian Petracca
If we do a deal for picks I’d like to see us swap our 2027 first rounder for their 2026 first as part of the deal. Load up before Tassie comes in.

Not sure we want the Hawks coming hard for him. Once he nominates a club it’s down to a one horse race so it would be better for us if that horse is the Suns. I wonder should we set the price for him before he nominates a club. Say we want a top 5 pick and a player no matter where he decides to go.

It’s the dream scenario for Trac to want to go to the Suns and Flanders the other way. Should we be able to get enough points value in what we receive for McVee and spargo we might be able to snare one of their later first round picks too.

Farewell Judd McVee
I think if things were flipped around and we were able to get McVee in a trade( in a world where he’s never been our player) what would people be willing to pay? I think pick 23 and a swapping of future 3rd & 4th picks with us governing the 3rd would be a fair deal. Sooooo we need a bit more than 29

In the days following that queens birthday game( I think Lizzy was still around) I never had more respect for Trac and for the first time saw him as the natural leader to replace Max. A man that would lead by example, and literal put his body on the line for the club. At that point he was probably only second to Max in terms of how much respect I had for him, now I have none. It’s not that he’s leaving as I still have respect for Nibbler and JJ amongst others it’s the way he’s went about it mainly last year and clearly he never wanted to be here all season. I do believe it’s best he goes from the clubs point of view. We need to continued our rebuild as fast as possible and we don’t have first rounder this year so we need to trade out at least one player with high value.

Or just stick to the cooking. Point is that he is still a Melbourne player and if a suitable deal can’t be agreed there’s a chance( all be it a small one now) that he could be back playing for us next year. Publicly courting another team is disrespectful in my opinion. One only has to look through this thread to see that there’s plenty of fans who would have said he never wanted to leave if he didn’t make it public.
