Cleary will be later in the order maybe around pick10 I’m guessing. So it will depend on where swans finish- they will be very keen to have a pick before somebody calls his name. I’ve gone off Duursma. Don’t think he has the work rate required for our system. Im assuming Cal Twomey's draft rankings will come out next week. Will be interesting to see where he rates a few.

Would be a massive out normally but can see it making much of a difference this week. They are currently $7 to beat the pies. Now if he missed the Sydney game as well that would help this death ride nicely. -
2023 NATIONAL DRAFT ORDER AND SELECTIONS
Colm replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gold Coast will 100% trade their first round pick that will be anywhere from pick 4-10. Problem is we won’t be the only ones after it and others may value it higher and/or have Breyer hand to trade with. Take the dogs for instance they currently have picks 12 and 16. They also have a father son pick that’s rated late in the first round. They could easily split their second and then go to the Suns with pick 12 plus another good pick that they get from splitting 16. GWS have 7 and 9 and good easily spit the second to have a strong hand to offer the Suns. Sydney is also one to watch, I expect them to rise up the ladder from their current position and they have a very good academy player of their own coming through that played very well over the weekend. They have Hawks 2nd and third round picks as well as their own. If their academy player( Cleary) end up being valued around the same as first pick then they will be keen to move up. -
Really hope they get a dead cat bounce with the caretaker coach. Be nice if they finish above Freo.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/963072 This article has the remaining fixtures for all teams. Having looked at all those team around Freo I expect Swan, Richmond and Carlton to finish well above them. The two team that concern me the most are the Suns and GWS as both don’t have any easy games in the run in. Think it will be between those two and Freo for draft picks 4-6. I’d be happy with any of those picks. But I’ll be death riding hard and hoping we get pick 4. -
I missed the first quarter yesterday and Duursma scored his two goals by the time I tunes in. I kept a good eye on him and wasn’t all that impressed. Doesn’t like to run when the other team has the ball. Noticed a few times the ball was turned over when he was close by and just gave up on it when he could have impacted the play. I liked the game Darcy Wilson played. Covers the ground well.

Watched 3/4 of the Vic country, Allies game. Small sample size but I wouldn’t be giving 3 first round picks for Harley Reid. Played a forward for a bit but when he did go into the middle he didn’t look as good as 3 of the Allies mids in Cleary, Mckercher and Sanders. Cleary is tied to the Swans and the other two are from Tassie but if McKercher is on the board at our first pick I’d be surprised if we didn’t grab him.

Freo’s % taking a hammering. Now below the Suns on the live ladder. That’s pick 4 ladies and gentlemen. -

Cmon Carlton big second half please. Freo have a very tough run of games after this one- Pies, Swan, Cats and Lions. I don’t have them winning any of those if they can’t get over the Blues today. -
Maybe, probably depend what pick we get from Freo and how many bolters there are over the next few months. I thought Duursma was our man but the two games I’ve seen of him lately he hasn’t been amazing. But he could be gettable around Freo’s pick now. On the other hand if you put Reid in along side Trac, Clarry and Viney it would be a sight to behold

They have 3 academy players currently rated in the top 10 of this years draft by ESPN. It’s starting to be a very compromised draft. Four academy players( 3 suns and 1 swan), 2 farther/son currently rated in the top 20 and two highly rated boys from Tassie.
-
Think we will have to pay a lot more to get Suns top 10 pick. We won’t be the only ones chasing it. Pick 33 might be enough to get the above deal done and if the Suns end up with a higher draft pick then we may need to use future picks. We could also spilt picks with other clubs and increase our over points value before dealing with the Suns.
-
This is really snowballing, club need to be upfront with where the injury is at and why it’s taken so long for a two week injury to heal. Going by the clip above it’s hard not to assume it’s been very badly mismanaged.
-
If a Tassie born player decides he want to play for Tasmania then I would think that a club would be very well compensated for losing the player. Tassie team will have a massive bounty of picks and future picks and Tassie players will be worth more to them than drat picks as there would be no go home factor for them to worry about. If we get 5 years out of a player and then get some very good draft picks in a compromised draft we may end up coming out well in front.
-
Even without the Frisch injury the hard truth at the minute is that we just aren’t good enough. We’re all been making excuses hoping that things will change for a while now but we seem unable to make the changes required to improve.
-
Really flat after that performance. We have no excuses. Can’t kick for goal to save our lives. Entry inside was terrible. Same old problems. I’m normally optimistic even after a loss but the penny dropped for me today, We’re not winning a flag this year😔

Dogs running away with it now and hurting Freo’s % -
Yup we get short end of the stick again like we did with Mac Andrew. Although with hindsight I’d take JVR every day of the weeks anyways.
-
Perfect timing for the AFL to change the rules on Father son draftees just as the Dees have a few coming through over the next few years. Does it mean they will leave all the NSW, Queensland and Tassie clubs to still have the same access to the academy players?

As things stand I’d rather we try to get the Suns pick 9 with pick 15&27 -

Conner O Sullivan is another player that is moving up the draft boards a bit. Do you know much about him @dazzledavey36? -
Missed the first quarter. Thought BBB was moving very well in the second but not as well after the break. Might need another week at Casey to get his fitness levels up. Thought Jefferson looks to have put on a bit of muscle in his legs. Upper body not so much.
-
Well that quarter was muck. Almost as bad as last quarter last night.

Finally worked out how to stream from the app to my tv. 👏
