I wonder if we would need to give more than that. Our 3 first picks are currently 4, 15 and 22. Which is 3991 points. Pick 1 is 3000. I know to trade up you normally need to pay overs but if WC rate Curtain close to Reid and he comes without any go home factor then 4,15 and 34 might be enough to get it done. Pick 4 is a great pick to have.

Could do with an outside midfielder who can use the ball well going I50, the KPF you mentioned and a Key defender. Steven May doesn’t have long left and I don’t think we have anybody of his caliber in the twos

I heard Sanders give interview after he won the Larke medal and he said his biggest mentor in footy was Harry Sneezel and that they have been on very similar paths. I’d be surprised if North don’t pick him up via priority pick or maybe trade back and get him.

With pick 4 looking more and more likely we will be one of probably only 2 teams that could trade with WC. If they want Curtain then there’s no point in them trading for picks lower than 4 as there would be a strong chance Curtain could be gone. With that in mind it will all depend how highly they rate Curtain- our first two first rounders might be enough to get the deal done. I'm not in favour of giving up 3 firsts as I think we have a few holes to fill.
  5. Watched most of the game last night. To my surprised I thought Freo were the better team and should have won only for a poor start. Still with a a very tough run in I can only see them beating the Hawks and Eagles. If the Suns can get a win today I’d say we can lock in pick 4.

After our game the 3 teams I hope get up are the Lions, Swans and the Suns. If the Suns can’t win this one I see them finishing below Freo.
  7. Can’t say I blame him. His did what was asked of him in terms of going and playing well in the twos- got an opportunity to play in the first team and did all that could be asked of him but instead of being rewarded for a good performance he was sent back to the twos even when Petty was playing injured. He’s a good depth player and we might regret it if we let him go. I think we might hold him to his contract. With JJ also rumoured to be looking around, Tmac, BBB, Melksham and Pig all close to the end it would be hard to find replacements for everyone.
  8. Yeah I tend to agree, although we are well placed in this draft there will probably be other clubs with more to offer for the Suns pick. That doesn’t mean we can’t get a slice of the pie though- we could still get involved. We could trade with GWS for pick 10 therefore improving their chances of getting a deal done with the Suns. Dogs pick 12 could also interest us. Long way to go and ladder position will change before EOS.

Could understand him leaving if he’s offered regular game time at another club. Would probably a good career move for him. Would we be entitled to anything by way of compensation? Hopefully with 3 clubs interested in him it drives his contract value up which might help.

Thought you may have had some information as regards to a player or draftee we’d might brw looking at as BBB and or Tmac replacements. I know we area in need of outside miss this year but have to think we will be looking at a bringing forwards again as well. Milkshake could also be in if the above two mentioned as very near the end.

Care to elaborate on the last bit?

Kynan Brown will prob come in too who will be a similar type. Shame it hasn’t worked out for Bill and hopefully he gets a trade that works for him.
  13. Daz provided some great info on him earlier in the thread.

Pick 5 from Freo would be a great outcome but I’m hoping for 4 and think swans are a better team and will finish above Freo. I’m more concerned about the Suns dropping down the ladder than the Swans. Given the picks we currently have 4,15,23&34 as well as all of next years picks we have a stronger hand in a supposedly better draft than the year 2019 when we got Jackson, Kossie and Rivers. Regardless of who we bring in it’s going to be very exciting.

Yeah the more I think about I tend to agree. I think we would be properly compensated though. Well I’d hope so. It would need to be clarified before this trade and draft period.

@dazzledavey36 Given his size where would you see him playing next year if we did select him? Casey? Maybe half forward for us or do you think he could play midfield for us year one?

Didn’t get to see his game over the weekend but that was a cracking goal. Even with pick 4 he might be out of reach for us. Due to the Tassie factor he might slide to our pick in which case I’d be delighted if we got him. I wouldn’t be keen on trading up to get him though- the more I think of it the more I think he will play for the Tassie team. If he realises his potential he will be their number one target and the AFL and Tassie media will be all over it. That’s why I don’t want us to trade up to get him- if we trade up we will have to pay overs and then there’s an even higher chance we lose out on the overall trade if he leaves in 5 years.

Just said on 7 news that it’s looking likely that North will get another priority pick again this year?! WTF They are not even bottom of the ladder, does that mean West Coast are getting extra picks as well. Also showed Clarkson at the under 18,s- is this a little sweetener to get him to come back?
  19. I think the Hawks would also like to have pick 3 which I think will mean they get it. I’ll be delighted if we end up with pick 4. After the results this weekend and looking at the run home for all the teams in and around Freo I think the Suns are only team that might drop below Freo of the teams that are currently above them.

Is this true? Surely not, a contract is a contract AFL can’t just decide it’s ok for some players to break them. Do you have a link or where did you read it?
  21. Hopefully Wagner comes back in for the Freo game next week. Extra couple of days rest can’t hurt their chances of getting the job done over in Perth either.
  22. I’m sure we do, and if JT think he’s the one we should go for then I’ll be very confident that he will work out given we have had such a close look at him. It’s because he trained with us and got a game a Casey that I kept a close eye on him since, he looks like he got a lot of class about him and a couple of game so watched he had nearlyā€ sort of games for him in the he nearly had a break out game. But his lack of effort when the other team has the ball has surprised me. Maybe he’s been carrying a knock or a few niggles.
  23. Cleary will be later in the order maybe around pick10 I’m guessing. So it will depend on where swans finish- they will be very keen to have a pick before somebody calls his name. I’ve gone off Duursma. Don’t think he has the work rate required for our system. Im assuming Cal Twomey's draft rankings will come out next week. Will be interesting to see where he rates a few.
  24. Would be a massive out normally but can see it making much of a difference this week. They are currently $7 to beat the pies. Now if he missed the Sydney game as well that would help this death ride nicely.
