NON-MFC: Rd 19 2023
After our game the 3 teams I hope get up are the Lions, Swans and the Suns. If the Suns can’t win this one I see them finishing below Freo.

Contracted Tomlinson Looks to Move On?
Can’t say I blame him. His did what was asked of him in terms of going and playing well in the twos- got an opportunity to play in the first team and did all that could be asked of him but instead of being rewarded for a good performance he was sent back to the twos even when Petty was playing injured. He’s a good depth player and we might regret it if we let him go. I think we might hold him to his contract. With JJ also rumoured to be looking around, Tmac, BBB, Melksham and Pig all close to the end it would be hard to find replacements for everyone.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Yeah I tend to agree, although we are well placed in this draft there will probably be other clubs with more to offer for the Suns pick. That doesn’t mean we can’t get a slice of the pie though- we could still get involved. We could trade with GWS for pick 10 therefore improving their chances of getting a deal done with the Suns. Dogs pick 12 could also interest us. Long way to go and ladder position will change before EOS.

Farewell James Jordon
Could understand him leaving if he’s offered regular game time at another club. Would probably a good career move for him. Would we be entitled to anything by way of compensation? Hopefully with 3 clubs interested in him it drives his contract value up which might help.

PREGAME: Rd 19 vs Adelaide
Thought you may have had some information as regards to a player or draftee we’d might brw looking at as BBB and or Tmac replacements. I know we area in need of outside miss this year but have to think we will be looking at a bringing forwards again as well. Milkshake could also be in if the above two mentioned as very near the end.

Daz provided some great info on him earlier in the thread.

Pick 5 from Freo would be a great outcome but I’m hoping for 4 and think swans are a better team and will finish above Freo. I’m more concerned about the Suns dropping down the ladder than the Swans. Given the picks we currently have 4,15,23&34 as well as all of next years picks we have a stronger hand in a supposedly better draft than the year 2019 when we got Jackson, Kossie and Rivers. Regardless of who we bring in it’s going to be very exciting.

Yeah the more I think about I tend to agree. I think we would be properly compensated though. Well I’d hope so. It would need to be clarified before this trade and draft period.

@dazzledavey36 Given his size where would you see him playing next year if we did select him? Casey? Maybe half forward for us or do you think he could play midfield for us year one?

Colby McKercher
Didn’t get to see his game over the weekend but that was a cracking goal. Even with pick 4 he might be out of reach for us. Due to the Tassie factor he might slide to our pick in which case I’d be delighted if we got him. I wouldn’t be keen on trading up to get him though- the more I think of it the more I think he will play for the Tassie team. If he realises his potential he will be their number one target and the AFL and Tassie media will be all over it. That’s why I don’t want us to trade up to get him- if we trade up we will have to pay overs and then there’s an even higher chance we lose out on the overall trade if he leaves in 5 years.

NON-MFC: Rd 18 2023
Just said on 7 news that it’s looking likely that North will get another priority pick again this year?! WTF They are not even bottom of the ladder, does that mean West Coast are getting extra picks as well. Also showed Clarkson at the under 18,s- is this a little sweetener to get him to come back?

I think the Hawks would also like to have pick 3 which I think will mean they get it. I’ll be delighted if we end up with pick 4. After the results this weekend and looking at the run home for all the teams in and around Freo I think the Suns are only team that might drop below Freo of the teams that are currently above them.

Is this true? Surely not, a contract is a contract AFL can’t just decide it’s ok for some players to break them. Do you have a link or where did you read it?

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
I’m sure we do, and if JT think he’s the one we should go for then I’ll be very confident that he will work out given we have had such a close look at him. It’s because he trained with us and got a game a Casey that I kept a close eye on him since, he looks like he got a lot of class about him and a couple of game so watched he had nearly” sort of games for him in the he nearly had a break out game. But his lack of effort when the other team has the ball has surprised me. Maybe he’s been carrying a knock or a few niggles.

Cleary will be later in the order maybe around pick10 I’m guessing. So it will depend on where swans finish- they will be very keen to have a pick before somebody calls his name. I’ve gone off Duursma. Don’t think he has the work rate required for our system. Im assuming Cal Twomey's draft rankings will come out next week. Will be interesting to see where he rates a few.

2023 NATIONAL DRAFT ORDER AND SELECTIONS
Gold Coast will 100% trade their first round pick that will be anywhere from pick 4-10. Problem is we won’t be the only ones after it and others may value it higher and/or have Breyer hand to trade with. Take the dogs for instance they currently have picks 12 and 16. They also have a father son pick that’s rated late in the first round. They could easily split their second and then go to the Suns with pick 12 plus another good pick that they get from splitting 16. GWS have 7 and 9 and good easily spit the second to have a strong hand to offer the Suns. Sydney is also one to watch, I expect them to rise up the ladder from their current position and they have a very good academy player of their own coming through that played very well over the weekend. They have Hawks 2nd and third round picks as well as their own. If their academy player( Cleary) end up being valued around the same as first pick then they will be keen to move up.

Breaking: Stuart Dew gone
Really hope they get a dead cat bounce with the caretaker coach. Be nice if they finish above Freo.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
https://www.afl.com.au/news/963072 This article has the remaining fixtures for all teams. Having looked at all those team around Freo I expect Swan, Richmond and Carlton to finish well above them. The two team that concern me the most are the Suns and GWS as both don’t have any easy games in the run in. Think it will be between those two and Freo for draft picks 4-6. I’d be happy with any of those picks. But I’ll be death riding hard and hoping we get pick 4.

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
I missed the first quarter yesterday and Duursma scored his two goals by the time I tunes in. I kept a good eye on him and wasn’t all that impressed. Doesn’t like to run when the other team has the ball. Noticed a few times the ball was turned over when he was close by and just gave up on it when he could have impacted the play. I liked the game Darcy Wilson played. Covers the ground well.

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
Watched 3/4 of the Vic country, Allies game. Small sample size but I wouldn’t be giving 3 first round picks for Harley Reid. Played a forward for a bit but when he did go into the middle he didn’t look as good as 3 of the Allies mids in Cleary, Mckercher and Sanders. Cleary is tied to the Swans and the other two are from Tassie but if McKercher is on the board at our first pick I’d be surprised if we didn’t grab him.
