  1. On the BigFooty rumour thread that WC are putting their pick 23 on the table along with future first to try and Curtin before Crows make a move. We would surely have to consider it?! Use our own future first and their second rounder to get Swans pick?! Although all the mail seems to suggest we will take Windsor and Tholstrup at our current picks.
  2. I will get on board with whatever JT decides but I’ll be pretty gutted if Geelong mange to snare Curtin
  3. Bit late to the party McKercher and Tholstrup if we trade with Hawks. Curtin and Tholstrup if we don’t. given the quality available at our picks I’m going to be happy with whoever JT picks.
  4. Pretty sure WC future first is on the table for Curtin without any other add ons. We would only put our future first on the table for their pick 23
  5. Eagles could easily split 11 and end up with 2 of Tholstrup, Hardeman or Collard along with Curtin and a future first. IF (and it’s a huge if) they think Curtin gets to our pick they would be mad not to do it. I don’t think we are playing games though, it’s not our style. Our interest in Tholstrup must be genuine.
  6. 12 days off for our bye round 14. Better than 10 we had this year but 14/15 would have been nice. Overall I think it’s a good draw for us.
  7. We are starting to be linked with a few players that are rated a bit lower down than our pick 11 so I wonder if your right and we are covering our bases should we end up doing a trade with north for picks 3&15.
  8. That’s ok. We can then grab Leake
  9. I’ll join in. I’m hoping we get a tall defender and a classy outside mid but also like the look of Leake. My preference for pick 6 are as follows. Curtin O'Sullivan Leake Sanders Watson For pick 11 Any of the above that slide and Windsor Wilson Caddy I haven’t seen enough of Edwards or Tholstrup but given their right ups if JT was to pick either here I wouldn’t be disappointed.
  10. Twomey said both the bombers and crows would try and move up if Curtin was still on the board at our pick.
  11. Surprised to see he has us taking Edwards with our second pick. He already has been tipped as a bolter this year but pick 11( 13 after academy) is much higher than I’ve seen him anywhere else. I haven’t seen him at all but his rookie me central profile suggest he has a skill set we would be interested in. Strengths- clean hands, kicking, running capacity and upside.
  12. Just listened to Gettable , Cal doesn’t seem to think North will pick Curtin at 2 or 3. Hawks are the biggest chance to take him before our pick. They are deciding between him and Watson
  13. I think the Suns might yet have a massive part to play with pick 1 although in a more indirect way. They are still short on points required for their academy players and have picks 24 (second pick in the second round), 26&27. Should they part with the first two of those 3 picks in a trade involving WC and North and perhaps ourselves for a mix of later and future picks then you might think it’s unlikely that any of the clubs involved would bid on their academy players( be very close to draft tampering). IF Walters slipped past 2&3 that would saving the Suns 400 points alone. It would add two decent picks to the mix to be part of an overall deal and might help get it over the line.
  14. @Pennant St Dee Do you know what the WA prospects for 2024 are looking like? Just trying to gauge what WC could do over a two year period rather than just this draft. If they don’t trade pick one they don’t have a great hand after it in this years draft. Trading out future Picks will be their only way to move up the order this year.
  15. Does anybody know if there’s a list spots/number of draft selections restriction on Gold Coast this year? I’ve heard it mentioned but I’m not sure if it comes into play this year. Im just wondering if they can still split the picks they have. If they can they might make the above trade between ourselves, WC and North easier to get across the line. It would bring their pick 24(which is the second pick of the second round) into play. Say our pick 42 and picks 57 & 58 goes to the Suns for Pick 24. Might help get it over the line. So added to the above deal Dees get 23 and give 42 North give 57 and get 24 WC gives 23 and 58(perhaps with a later Suns pick coming back) FWIW I’m hoping we hold onto 6 & 11, just throwing something out there as I thought the first proposed deal wasn’t great for us.
  16. I’d be in favour of doing it if we can also improve our remaining draft hand this year. Pick 23 and maybe 37 would have to be involved. I can see WC finishing in the bottom two again next year even if they get Reid and Curtin.
  17. Agree. I only saw his two games for Vic country but I was impressed by him in those games which I believe were his first two games in defence. Good interceptor, quick for a big man and looked good one on one. I hope with get a key defender this draft and if not Curtin or O'Sullivan then I’m hoping Dawson or Zakostelsky are available at our later pick. Realistically the only way I see this happening is if we move up for pick 1,2 or 3 and improve 42 slightly.
  18. @monoccular see above post from Chaser in another thread. It gave me a bit more confidence if we do pick a Tasmanian prospect.
  19. Ok I’ll rephrase it. I will be very surprised if Caddy is off the board by our pick. I’ll also be very happy as( on the limited games I watched him in the champs) I don’t rate him as the 7 normally rated above him. Given the pick before us if the dogs who are stacked for talls and have another f/s tall coming in this draft. I very greatly doubt they will pick him so he’d have to go top 5. So the Hawks would have to pick him in front of the likes of Duursma,Curtain, Watson and Sanders.
  20. Caddy will def be available at our first pick. As will one of Sanders, Curtain or Watson. More likely to be Curtain or Sanders.
  21. Could we tempt GWS with pick 11, F1,and 42 for pick 7 ? That way if the rumours are true and we are not going to take Curtain at 6 we still get player we are after and swap future first with WC. We may need to throw in a future second to get it done. Cats pick at 8 could still see us get the player we are after if it’s not Curtain or Sanders. I think WC will be in the bottom two again next year.
  22. Giving we are being linked heavily with Leake and Windsor now when there will be key defenders available at both of our picks Im assuming we must rate Adam’s very highly.
  23. Starting to feel like a bit of a JT special isn’t it. Wasn’t even in Cals top 20 a few months ago. The more noise there is about us picking him at 6 the more it reminds me of the noise about Jackson coming up to his draft. If we were to pick him ahead of Curtain or Sanders it would show how highly we rate him. Have to admit I didn’t really notice him in the few Allies games I watched as I was focused on other players. Be interested to hear people’s thoughts on what position he would start off in should we pick him. Just going off his highlights he plays very like Fritter up forward. Can take a mark and good shot for goal. Is there room for two of those type in our forward line? Seemed to struggle to make his tackles stick a few times so might need work on that to play half back at AFL level.
  24. Pickett never went public with his want to return “home”. Nor did Ports list manager. The deal offered to Pickett never became public knowledge neither did what Port offered. Kossie didn’t go playing golf and giving interviews with Ports players during trade week. Cornes is a tool but the two situations are very different.
  25. Great work @spirit of norm smith I have been wondering if Hawks will pick Curtain with their f/s pick McCabe also being a key defender( haven’t seen him). Taking Ginnivan might mean they are less likely to take Watson I guess. If we do go for two mids with our two top picks as you have above I hope that either Dawson or Zakostelsky slides to 42 or we move up to get them.
