WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
Tomlinson could be useful to us as a hard running marking option type winger, so our key forwards don't have to push so far up the ground. not a match winner, but an important piece of the puzzle none the less. we've lacked that a bit with Hogan leaving and TMac out injured. both of those guys could use their elite running to link up through the midfield, but then quite often had no one to kick it to going forward. Tomlinson could go some way towards solving both problems. add Langdon on the other side as the fat side winger, using his pace to break lines and get overlap run. both would add greatly to our midfield running capabilities.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
yeah I agree. I would prioritise picking up skilled outside runners over a key fwd. hence why i'd only take King if we could get Martin on the cheap as well. the deal would have to be largely weighted in our favour to make me consider it.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
id swap pick 2 for King only if the Suns threw in Martin as part of the deal.

What should our midfield set-up be next season?
if they were all fit i'd probably go with the following, Inside mids- Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca(Fwd) Wings- Salem, Langdon inside/outside rotations- Harmes, Vandenberg, Sparrow(HBF) Petracca should play more minutes through the guts next year, close to a 50/50 split Mid/Forward would be good and help keep him involved in the game, and as a scoring option. thought he was under utilised on ball this year with the others not really setting the world on fire there most of the year. Salem to play an outside mid role where he can use his quick kicks under pressure to good use and link up the play. Langdon, sounds like its a done deal, he can play as the fat side Winger to use his running power to good effect. Harmes and Vanders off the bench rotating through wings/on ball/tag/forward as needed. and play Sparrow off half back flank with brief stints either on ball or through the wing.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
I was hoping we pick up either Young or Ash anyway so it doesn't bother me.

The 2019 season post mortem thread
unfortunately we were the only team he knew how to beat up and that was no secret.

We'll Have To Keep Garlett
Garlett should be delisted imo. I think we have to get games into Lockhart, Bedford, Spargo and Chandler next year to find out who is worth persisting with, and who isn't.

Mad monday celebrations
I suggest the club goes with a Titanic theme for mad monday. with Goodwin arranging the deck chairs, the Captains wrestling over control of the ships wheel, assistants jumping overboard, and the passengers(players) out to save themselves and fighting for a spot in the lifeboats. abandon ship!

Dees interested in Roughead
We could do worse than have Roughie teaching Weideman and Petty the finer details about forward craft. Maybe he can teach our coach too.
-
Its the forward line stupid
I think we have the forwards to kick a score, we did last year, we just need them out on the park and not injured. we also need coaches who can teach the players a system of ball movement and leading patterns. we currently don't have that, I've barely seen it all year. would also like us to stop with the high press defence that we don't have the leg speed to stop goals out the back with. I want to see defenders who can play on a man and beat them. find out who can actually defend. none of this zoning crap.

Oliver Sprays Fritsch
Clarry demanding the ball as a stationary handball target 2 metres away from Fritsch. team rule or not, this is the sort of thing that has been causing the team problems for the last 2 years.
-
What has happened to Salem?
i'm not worried about his disposal too much as teams are putting more effort into him lately and half the time there's no one for him to kick to anyway because none of his team mates work hard enough. but he is not a good defender. he's bloody ordinary under the high ball with poor spoils, body work and marking, and like a lot of our defenders he gets lead up the ground then turned around to expose his lack of speed and agility. should be playing hff/wing where he has the time and space to use his skills to better effect.

Who will be our caretaker coach mid next year if Goodwin is sacked ?
yep get him as midfield coach, and Roughie as forward coach, and keep Lewis around as an assistant as well. then get rid of Goodwin.
-
Get Izzy Folau
I think I read somewhere that statistically Folau was the worst player to have ever played the game. not sure that sort of talent will help us much.
-
Jack Viney
he deliberately slimmed down over the break, so as to cover the ground better. but in doing so, seems to have lost his one wood that was his brute power in the contest. needs to realise that was his strength and get back to it. doesn't have the skills to be anything else unfortunately.

Martin Flanagan Talks Dees on SEN (30/7)
Jones should hand it over and just focus on playing good footy in his twilight years. Viney should give it up, be VC instead and just work on his ability to string a coherent sentence together. Max should be captain next year.

Jordan Lewis is NOT cooked, give him 1 more season.
was good yesterday but 1 good game doesn't get you another year. catching out teams by throwing something unexpected at them can only work so many times. yeah he's got the smarts still, but like Vince last year before him, he's lost his legs. we have other guys who can do these roles he's been filling in, and if Lewis is getting a game just as depth because of injuries, then we are more than likely out of the running anyway. just like this year, so I just don't see the point of him going on. his time is up. i would rather see us get some games into another Jordon next year, James.

GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs West Coast Eagles
Hurn out hurts them. now we just need Preuss to crunch McGovern in the first 5 minutes, and their backline might start to feel the pressure. oh hang on, I forgot. we don't have actually have any genuine forwards playing, so it probably wont make a difference anyway.
-
CHANGES: Rd 18 vs West Coast Eagles
id be happy enough with those changes. i'd even add one more in Dunkley. thought he put in some real weak effort at times.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
I would prefer it if they just folded the GC Suns up to be honest. Its a club no one asked for. The whole thing has pretty much been a failure from the get go, and no one wants to play for them if they can help it.
