EJ dont disagree with you at all and we would be in the 8 safe with one more win and win on Sat ie 10-7 not 9-8. But 3?points is so bliss with late opportunities I did feel that we were not really entitled to lead at half time as we hadn't played well. But I thought we may have improved after half time and gone away for say a 3 goal win. Prob Ssints have Flatlined in last 4/5 rounds so that win is nit surprising as they lack A graders they the Dees often lose because of. Good point is that any turnover is likely to be at half forward Rather than between half back flank and wing and on the wing mostly. The reality is that in the last minute if both the Cats snd Lions games we had opportunities on the forward line and flummoxed BOTH. Geelong was the half hearted sling approach from Adam Tomlinson who with some cool heads up from say a Gawn Or Viney ( Jones was absent I think) could have seriously lined up that shot he got the distance easily and a point resulted. End of story. Just as bad was the amateur hour ( minute) from Hannan and Fritsch. At just between the diamond and 50 m line Hannan had possession and kicks to Fritsch leading into his wrong pocket ( a common fault) and the ball is marked just over the line by Fritta. Then follows the 50 m penalty fir a slow handover Of the ball. A long shot fir a winning goal based on Fritta season long 19.20 and some outs haunting us. BUT all along Hannan missed Viney on his own clear of an opponent about 30 m out in front of goal who could have Iced the goal and time fir us to win. So very Melbourne I can hear you say !! Yes we have won 3 close games also plus Suns in last minutes but actually in those crisis minutes we have been pretty strong in many ways to hold on to a lead under fierce pressure from Blues Saints and Giants. Notably May has been a hero really in a stellar breakout season in Those close wins where he had resisted a number of last quarter attacks and conceded more I 50's on the day and had equal or less In scoring shots. Hadn't been any revolution for Gawks but has held his position season long. A case of he would be a better player in our side this year as he would get results with his kamikaze firward thrusts and shirt passes when he deigns to lower his eyes.0

Smithy Totally agree with everything you have posted. Seriously are the Coaches putting time into Bayley ? If not we are ignoring a classy player who is under achieving and under performing. Bayley is a good mark one in one If he is in front mainly or manoeuvres to the right side where the ball is directed, also occasionally contested ( not recommended to try very often) also has great skills but dies nit use them aggressively or smartly. Only other improvement is his poor tackling which may be due to his light body frame. Bayley will be a great player an A grader if he works to improve his already good skill base. I estimate he could kick 2 more goals most games he is playing and also a breakout 5 goals is in the horizon if he is trained and encouraged properly. its our elephant in the room again development. Development and development!!!

Agreed he like all of our players responded to the call in the last quarter one of the best we have played all year. we were only 33 secs from keeping GWS goalless in that last stanza. Brilliant work by all the team who showed when we have a super strong purpose and goal and are coached with passion and clear thoughts positively conveyed we can raise our level quite high. Anything less leaves us in no mans land and results are anyone's guess.

But not if he gets caught and holds up play continuously detrimental to the team plans and we don't need that going forward.
