How come you have not ruled out Melksham he has done very little training also ? Rosman a shoe in on the other wing.
-
Petty forward or back?
-
Who Ben or Mitch?
-
He can be training up forward on Friday DD if asked. He has been up forward you would know but many Dees fans believe he could play Forward also with success, asked on about 3/4 games in 2019 up forward. Your statement seems just like Goody's inflexibility which we don't need at our Club especially when injuries are occurring in a major way.

Thanks EH good update and hope you enjoyed your lunch. its perplexing why we can't get some players disposal issues Solved A game plan can't work without reasonable disposal. I thought Choco was the kicking expert so what's happening there? If Salem can do it and Trac Does it automatically ( instinctly) then others should be able to improve. Hope we don't ruin the new recruits that are Good disposers with all our rushed play on drills. Lets look for some improvement In this over the next 4/5 weeks. Thanks Again EH.

The,Coach and list manager should be discussing their wishes with the Recruiting Manager who then with the Football Manager come up with the best strategy to get the pick No's As high as possible to get the required draft choices. In essence what happens is the aRecruiting staff go watching certain players to see if they measure up etc. They are the best available then best available in wanted positions eg. Fast outside mid or small forward who crumbs and kicks goals. This assists the Club put together its 40 odd players on draft and trade periods. Ongoing discussion would be held With Coach and List Manager. In my opinion we do not know at picks 21 and 22 if Laurie and Bowey are the best remaining footballers. It out list needs clever speedy runners on the ball or up forward with good disposal and that was their target. They seemed very happy with both esp JT. Poita you say JT is besotted with Small's who don't get the ball! To be fair JT has not picked a true Small until Kossie maybe that Johnstone was one who didn't measure up. Jeffy last Garlett was good but a Blues lifeline. Charlie Spargo is on the threshold of being a regular if his development and size are as good as most track watchers are reporting. With Kossie Charlie Laurie and Bowey we appear now to have 4 good chances of having a balanced forward line who can put some scare factor into our opponents. Pollyanna and DeeSpencer just say the best approach is to pick the next best footballer and speculate at or near the end of the list. That is far too general a plan and am sopleased that JT does not follow that plan as that's why our midfield is full of Goodwin bulls who can get the ball but need some help to place it to our forwards advantage or to our runners out of defence. In trade Langdon was targeted for a Wing and I have no doubt that Rosman will Be right in line for the other if he keeps impressing and showing that he wants that spot. He might well have been a speculative at pick 34 But we were only looking for 3 players from the draft and once a recruit gets to a footy Club his pick no is not his major factor in gaining momentum and adapting to the AFL Club system. Like Hubs some adapt quicker than others. I am so confident that the JT strategy has worked in 2019 and 2020 drafts that we will see this season first hand The choice of Best footballers along with needs and special skills Work well in our favour. That in my opinion is all we can ask instead of just blandly picking the next best player ( another inside mid for Goody) who does not enhance our list to challenge the Tigers Cats and Lions of the AFL.

Eddie McGuire Steps Down Effective Immediately
58er replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Eddie is not ATRUMP so will be well clear of their deliberations. His main aim now will be how he can be a supporter and get them a flag in 2021. Besides he is on other Boards and Other Orgs plus his TV commitments. The one in doubt may be his Fox job but by then he will have no doubt realised they can't do without him!!! -
"Best 2 Available players "can be subjective " Polly and DEESP. I have no doubt that Bowey and Laurie were the " best 2 available for Melbournes needs" and that's all I am worried about. If the best player generally considered at 21 was a ruck and 22 was a half Back flanker MOST fans would be livid if our 2 started starring fir later picks at other Clubs knowing we needed outside runners for our midfield and forward line. And the list at 34 changes at every no prior with different selections so a quick reaffirmation of your selection With the "voters' is Quite within order. Melb has 3 mins ( I think might be more) to place our selection so there is no hurry. It's not indecision but ticking your box carefully. Thank heavens dime D/L ers are nit allowed any where near JT and his team in the Box!!!
-
BRFE You do realise that the Cats Traded up Deliberately to pick 20 and got in first before us for Holmes That's why Holmes DID NOT appear the be in the picture ! He wasn't he was gone Pick 20 GFC!!!!
-
Another Quarter GLASS full Open the eyes that is a very good summary of where we sit. Don't be surprised if most of that falls into place.
-
Great photo BBB is a bit small!!!
-
Damo It's not 4 months PS training its strictly Jan for 4 years and above players plus any private work Burgo gave each player. They had to have 6 weeks whatever off as Annusl leave also since late September. Late year remember due to Covid!! You just cant always pick the best player in a position it doesnt always give team balance and Practice Or pre Season matches are also for Experiments!
-
Nascent We had already done our trading up to get 2 first round selections prior to the draft!!! You have forgotten. vety good selections and happened the way any supporter could be pleased about. 2 best kicksxand 2 best decision makers Thank you very much and Rosman the Big Smokey with all the ability and run in his tank! Ready made fir a wing ( and cameos on the forward line and no doubt at half back!) Well done JT and team. Let the tougher stuff reveal the beauty in these decisions.
-
But you are not funny OD. Boring and repetitive!! Quarter glass full stuff.
-
Other than the fact that Fraser is doing everything right to gain the wing position opposite Langers in Round1.
-
Read the Track reports OD! Your Wooden spoon referral is past humour! Good to say nothing as we were taught in the Old Days it's best to not say Anything if you don't have aany thing good to say at all !!!
-
Irrespective of BB we need a fit and firing Tmac on the Forward line, If needed in defence, and of course in the ruck and for about 2 mins a quarter perhaps on the wing! Absolutely Crucial to our list that Tom regains 2018 form In whatever position or category he plays. Top 4 if Tom goes well and a flag chance if BB can snag 45 plus goals this season.

Kane Cornes Concerns About Dees in 2021
58er replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree that's one of his plusses up forward his straight kicking! -
Many AFL players develop at different rates and Locky has only 2 years Smithy sadly injured fir a great proportion of his 3. Maybe you believe we should not have even kept them in our list. I believe my positive opinions about them will bear fruit this season as they will develop and eradicate their missing elements! Most players are still works in progress and fulfilment of potential is not an exact science. Jay and Joel deserve this season and I will be surprised if given an equal opportunity they don't succeed.

Kane Cornes Concerns About Dees in 2021
58er replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
DrD I found BRF's summary of 2019 and 2020 Both insightful and largely factual. Also His excellent listing of the potential of growth from our 2017,18, 19 and 20 recruits this season, and the effects of Ooze and Choco plus BBB when available. I also am bullish about improvement from our 22-26 yo olds and would add Hunt ANB Gus Tommo Petty Fritsch plus Salem as candidates to improve our team. Consequently your QUARTER GLASS FULL response absolutely amazes me.It completely overlooks natural improvement ( already documented in Training and Track watchers posts) plus two virtual new recruits in Petty and Brown and the already positive 2020 start at their new Club. Yes we have been Fooled more than 40 times in the last 56 when hoping for a Finals berth and only twice played off ( very disappointingly) For our 13th Flag. That overrides many pundits and comments are therefore general and historically based. I look at each year for the Signs and potential positively and believe our list and Club are nearing the time when all the jigsaw pieces are due to click ( In spite of Goody) and substance in our faith will be rewarded. Lets hope this happens and surprises the sceptics! -
Relax 2021 will prove that our rebuild Is well underway much quicker than the naysayers are telling or forecasting. Be prepared to apologise in September and embrace the force and extent of the Melbourne Comeback.

WWSW you are falling for the trick many D/L ers do. They fail to give our players a chance to develop and improve. Both Locky and Smithy have got plenty of room fir improvement and have potential as senior AFL players. A season or even half should bring them along nicely as our defence has started to become quite reliable and now act as a team defence at long last. Godfrey was middling and I presume you are posting about Oscar, who was a trier but could not fill the key FB or CHB to the level required.
-
Well WWSW Whst I am saying is that too often we get beaten by the small forwards not having a small defender quick and smart enough to mind them. In the same game Daniels kicked 3 goals snd nobody bear him so he was the most likely player to kick a goal/s and win the game. I believe Lockhart is our Jetta replacement and Yes Smithy was much better at the end of 2020 as he seemed to alter his approach and Gain an appreciation of what an AFL footballer needs to do. His footy smarts seem to have improved also.credit to the coaches for this and Joel. Smith is depth and Reasonably versatile and I look forward to his season But am very bullish about Locky's potential long term future at the Dees as a regular member of the improving team this year and many years ahead.

And how many have openly stated that on our list? Rufus name all the names please.
