Although Joel improved at the end of 2020 in the last 3/4 games and showed some aptitude to add to his athleticism and energy give me a natural instinctive footballer with skills and dare to break lines. Locky should have the Back pocket minding small opponents for a few years if he is given the opportunity by Goody. Joel could hold down a back flank on a bigger opponent if need be If he continues to develop his game awareness. Is versatile which could be a huge advantage with our depth in the future.

Getting more like the Finals team WD Locky for Hunt in BP Rosman for Baker On wing Hibbo for ANB and on HB flank moving Spargo to HF and Salem an Inter. Harmes stays in and Hunt Baker and ANB are Emergencies with

Possibly the players were given their own programs to do by Burgo for the Jan start WFA so in part we are both correct but reckon he was in Tas home doing his private prep so no CluB contact available to Big Ben then. Let's hope comes back as the real McCoy with 50 goals this season.

Very big Thanks to all the track watchers and reports that we are getting. Priceless info on differing methods About players and the best is their training and development. Every now- and again I twitter to myself about something or a gem From a post . At this stage From the training reports I have about 2/3 of our list improving of our older 21plusses and all the 2019 and 2020 draftees developing nicely. Finally Hunt Salem Fritsch look as though they are going to become close to the players they were recruited 3 to 5 years ago. And fabulous to hear that all the D/L ers lining up Charlie as The Oscar bagging clone will have to find another Player. Sparrow Jordan and Lockhart plus the young Tyros Jacko Kossie Riv plus Ros Laurie and Bowey are creating a standard that is well overdue with theIf talent and potential. Of course having Maxy Maysie Trac AndClarry setting the Standards overall Is of great comfort as is Choco and Ooze Running the drills. Surely we can improve our footy in the wind because we don't play our games at Marvel and MCG all the time esp in aCovid year!! Thanks again Track watchers Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Actually Jets played vs GWS (and Bombers I am Sure) but past his prime. We need a specialist small defender andLocky is the man most suited. Not always do your best 22 make the best Team as you have to have horses for courses. For some reason Goody decided Locky was not in or team at the end and IMO has put Locky's career back about half a season. Should start again in BP or on the oppos best small. I don't think Salo has that extra pace to mind Tippy fir eg. Hibberd and Riv are more mediums and Mind the Fritsch size forwards. Rivers could mind a small but is suited to mediums and Hibbo can go tall at a pinch. Riv May even get midfield or forward time in due course such is his talent and ability. About the Interchange Salem won't be on the bench very long. And he can play HB HF and wing (at a pinch ) Plus on the ball fir a quick stint. Tommo is versatile CHB or key defender across HF to defend vs a good oppo defender like Haynes etc. also in ruck and on the wing. Sparrow on the ball can play up forward and Jordon again on the ball down back. Lastly Gus on the ball and floating up forward provides options. So that bench is more in line with greater flexibility that Dogga Tommy Petty Rosman Tommo Salem Fritsch ( please leave him forward) and a Trac and a couple of others that will give our team a completely new look and versatility that will surprise even our fans and the opposition of course. All we have to do us get Goody to embrace these changes early i the season and quite frankly the earlier the better for our Finals and team development.

DS don't mind your Baker summary Actually he plays more like a Half forward than a wingman ( at least the game vs GWS which he kicked those great goals. But let's look at fitness and tank after the pre:season and practice games to see where he is at. Rosman has that already pace and endurance so he is a mile ahead of Baker and skills also I bet. Milkshake wouldn't run at HF so why ask him to run both ways like Langdon No Melky is on the edge IMO and only blackmail by Goody as his friend can save his spot. Please also agree about Tommy wing is only for about3 mins and also dies t he have a rest also? Salem or Hunt would be my choice to try but actually very happy if Fraser earns his song spot Ashe is doing his level best to do. Also let's not fall into the trap that all he can do is run His marking kicking and goal scoring are also being noted by the pundits and on doubt the Coaches. If I was a betting man Ros gets first go on the wingopposite Langers and we have two running beasts that will bring our team attacking and connection up forward ahead a long way. Laurie from the reports today is also making good his running and disposal skills so that augurs well for our flanks for the future.

Keeps feeding the negative ones who not only are a half glass empty but a QUARTER glass all the time. They are like Trump need to create chaos and trouble so they can look good "solving all the dramas" at the Club. But of course they don't because they don't use facts and information provided. Eg saying Ben Brown should have declared this injury in the first month ( before Christmas ) BB and most seniors started training on Jan 6 th. Others only turned up early prior to Christmas break as voluntary. But not many have realised and allowed for the different times this year and last fir season ending later and later start for all ages o the lists. But don't let these facts get in the way of the Injury story as the Club looks worse if you don't!!

Some of the "doctors" on here should stick to team selection or AFL rulesto comment. Actually come to think of it they are Sort of sh.....se at them also!!!

Just go down there and imagine ! FWIW I am not sure that the stand was used last week. Saw on TV in the back ground and it didn't look occupied ! Binman looks like you will have to BUCKET LIST this wish hoping the AFLW Dees play at Punt Rd in 2022. Or shall I say " BIN IT" !!!
-
WFA No training didn't start till JAN 5/6 You are assuming OLD times 2020 went a month longer and only 4 years and under ( and any others that wanted to) started in late 2020 and Browny acc. To reports was not on the track till Jan. So your argument time wise sort of breaks down. Yes it's not ideal but this injury seems reliably and professionally approached with a sensible as possible outcome. Will also be a good test for Tommy Mac Jacko and Weid early on. Now all the forwards know the Heat is on and serious competition will be the norm from now on!

For the humpteenth time Wdee who is the "old back pocket" in your team? Logic says it must be either Lockhart or Jetta! And look where both are in your teams!! Both playing side be side at Casey!! For years we have been Torched by SMALL forwards skipping and running around crumbing and kicking valuable goals as our backs look slow and cumbersome and no plan to cover these types. Case in point was vs GWS in Round 17 as Daniel looked the only real threat in kicking 3 goals While all the other forwards were well held by Tommo May Lever and Rivers etc. The BP is necessary to give balance to defence, to run and carry and break lines ( speed and dare) and while Jets has been our champ over the last 5 years its time to recognise that itsThe Fitter faster and more aggressive Lockhart that fits our 2021 style. Your Proposed team will be adequate for Round1 ( not sure whether we win or lose) but I'll guarantee that at least 4/5 spots will be different at seasons end IF we are to gave any chance of doing damage in the Finsls. Its time we moved on from the 2018 "heroes" some of which are not Paying their way and Father Time and their old game style has caught up with them. I refer to Jetta Melksham vandenBerg Neal-Bullen and possibly Hunt. I would bite the bullet and go for Rosman Spargo Lockhart Sparrow/Jordan and if fit Petty Instead of Baker Hunt Harmes and ANB and AVB as emergency. Sadly Jonesy will have to wait his turn. My "future" 22 plus emergencies would be assuming Hibbo ( who had a good responsive return in defence in 2020) and Viney are match fit and Petty also. My AFL team vs Freo in Round 1 is : B Lockhart May Hibberd HB Lever Petty Rivers C Langdon Petracca Rosman HF Fritsch McDonald Spargo F Pickett Weideman Jackson R Gawn Oliver Viney I Tomlinson Sparrow/Jordan Salem Brayshaw. Emerg Sparrow/Jordan Harmes Hunt and Baker/ANB Depth AvB Melksham Baker/ANB Jetta Jones J. Smith* Bowey* Laurie* M.Brown Bedford Bradtke Chandler Neitschke. * if showing Promising and good form in practice matches consider for AFL if team too slow and/ not enough small crumbing and running types. INJ B.Brown Hore. I believe this team and approach is overdue fir us to be a serious challenger in 2021 for Finals and indeed A flag.

The MCG is capable for large crowds it's just that Covid Plan is needed to be agreed upon at the ground and all other AFL venues. About 50% seems ok early days and as the season progresses slightly more fans fir bigger games like Anzac Eve and QB for us. There is no need for ridiculous additions in the park like the tennis ( good there but in an enclosed venue) as it is too open to have Covid plans sensibly applied and unnecessary for crowd numbers anyway.
-
He only played on the wing for about the first 3/5 mins of a quarter and sometimes not every quarter. Its just to get him mobile and switched on IMO.
-
Sorry but this basketball debate does not add anything to our teams 2021 season and would not be occupying any of the Coaches thoughts on how to improve our team. i am surprised these posts are accepted as they are not really on the topic of AFL

Kicking off the ground is the lazy and unskilled (weak) option. Normal routine before a game is preparing the way you trained unless the conditions change weather wise or at the ground. Kicking off the ground is the last option on most circumstances.
-
They are trained the correct way to get it in their hands where a decision can be made on disposal. Kicking off the ground is for wet and muddy days primarily.

Thanks FD it's much better than a reality check

Maxy is great but not at the On ground Placement etc.and tactics other than ruck IMO. Jack is a whole hearted footballer who tends to lead by example but again footy tactics are not his Forte except see ball get ball and knock out whoever is in the way. Maysie has the best balance of on field tactics in defence not sure all over the ground but others in leadership can cover this whether official or not.as we grow Trac Brown and Langers plus the Coaches should assist this aspect much more than in the past. In the meantime we recruit players with footy nous like Rivers and others that are able to read and be responsible fir our tactics and plans to be practised almost automatically in conjunction with our game plan.

I didnt say about culture bring different for May at GC snd not at MFC. GC had no culture or very bad. We are developing ours gradually starting from Roosy but Goody has let it slip. Wr need to get it back and Gawny in his 2nd year might do better but with Jack Maysie snd say Trac and Langers the players can be more influential from a leadership group sort of aspect. But you can't blame Gawny and Jack when Players fo stupid things. They can't stop them but they can decide upon fair and Necessary discipline if necessary.

Thanks OD for your honest opinion. JJ was very close last year in getting a game about 4 games to go but injured his wrist I think. He has been Getting good reviews for his development so far this pre season especially his greater muscle and physique also his improved ability to get the ball and disposal. He just seems ready judging by the reports etc. and also speaks as if he feels confident tjis is his breakout year. Lets hope so.

The irony is that they are not THAT young!!!!
