2022 MFC Delistings
This is bad news. After an underwhelming 2022 where players from 2021 were not under enough pressure to produce by the Coach and SC we need at least 6 new players over 2021 and 2022. To improve our list and keep the list keen and yearning for growth. Internal improvement is not enough and in 2022 many list players fell off their 2031 standard. Yes about 8/10 Casey players are promising or will get a chance early but nothing is certain. Hopefully a couple of new coaches are sought ( not in place of Ooze BTW) for new plans snd our forward line and backs both could be looked at. I think some sense in recruiting by trade is very necessary for us at present so hope this May eventuate. Our Four Year Plan is petering out if this is the 2023 version.

Positives from 2022
No he's a 3rd year prodigy like Trac was in his 3rd year counting his first injury prone year in the counting of his first 3 years. Potential evident but uses it sparingly at 20 years of age!!

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Sorry I have watched Robbo for his 2/3/4 years at the Lions and if you parcel up our 5 players he is lucky to have enough skill as the best in each of the 5. He is not quick ( we lack some outside pace still ) not a good ball handler) not a great goal kicker really and his best role may be as a tagger but Harmesy has him covered there. Only plus is his age and he MAY improve I suppose. But NO from me.

Another DS motherhood statement. Thank goodness JT and Lamby have nailed the top two rounds picks in the last 5 years. DS would by now would have declared them as illegal citizens and shipped off in disgrace to Port Arthur or Shanghai or it's modern equilivent Wuhan The fact is the Famous Five DS has listed were 12 mths ago the goldest role players in our history and untouchable in Club folklore. 2022 was a lesser year for many on our list and not changing at selection has taken the shine off their glitter. Really we can count on hand the few that actually improved in 2022 and it became so obvious that Goody wanted to replay 2021 all over again. That and injury and IMHO only 80% recovery for some players also hurt us in our 3rd and 4th terms fade outs. About FIVE/SIX new players are needed in 2023 to replenish some positions but all our players have the chance to stay relevant with good pre seasons and 100.% recovery from injury if they survive the cuts.

CASEY: Grand Final vs Southport
Yes amazing how a full season AFTER an ACL many players are so different in their confidence and movements. Let's just wait and see as Tommo has another year on contract I believe.

Positives from 2022
You don't think Jacko was not the same after his calf injury 2/3 way Through the season? And played with injury like about 6 or 8 players. You are taking it all out on him after our result in the Finsls Some other players we're not near their best of 2021. Viz ANB Spargo Rivers Salem Sparrow Bowey ( should have played in Finsls) Harmes Lever.etc. It was our fault that we played injured players and who couldn't play out the game. Goody also was too loyal to some. Need to find 5/6 new players for 2023 in draft trade and are at Casey already.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Give Rosman a rookie spot and hope he comes on and does not get injured. Trying to be creative how would' Logie (Freo) and Keath (Dogs ) or Bruce(Dogs) be any good as 3rd or 4th forwards or defenders? None are over 195 cm I don't think but as KP F or Backs Bruce might also surprise in defence. Logue should thrive with us up forward or back and Keath may be a 4 th defender if Turner comes on. As a KP Back as we think Thsts assuming Petty goes forward . Should not cost us a fortune.and plenty of ready made depth. Bruce may need a thorough medical however. How about a Top3 pick from Freo plus Logue and Henry as a hslf firward or winger for JL and our No 34 or future 2nd or 3rd Rounder? Adding Grundy Cadman ( or the best KPF draft recruit ) plus say Logue, Bruce or Keath and Henry would add a potential A Grader (Cadmsn or other recruit) and 3 B graders including a quick clever flanker/ winger to our stocks to replace Melky. Only problem is would we be going down the Ssints path and trading and not drafting youngsters which JT is good at picking mostly.

Really did you say that the morning after the Grand Final win? JT was not to know about his parents desire for him to return home ASAP. You are trying to say you did it seems. Yes I don't agree with Jacko's logic ( or his mothers) it's his career and another2! Years at the Dees would have rounded him off nicely. But we now must trade wisely snd do the best for our list to be as strong as possible. Care to Make any predictions about our younger listed players Ugo? Or wait till any thing happens in their career.

Jackson Callow
So DS he is carrying a pound or two ie fitness and athleticism a problem? Looks worth a chance to rookie as he can be placed on a specific fitness program once our experts ( not DS) have had a look and done some research. Does appear to do what Sam does not ie mark and kick goals !!!

How many straight sets have Melb gone out in ?. This might be the first time under the present Finals system that this has happened I believe so why is it a "Melb thing to do". And events have proved that in the Granny we were not choking but taking control of the game by the scruff of the neck. So we are now back to pre 2021 standards of losing as favourites status!Lets wait and see in thr coming years. What is more evident from the last 14 rounds is that we never had a full list free of injuries and recovery from injury was hampering some players plus some were played when injured. Our fade outs seemed too consistent which was also hampered by our Selectors not changing the team and giving some younger players games to assess their form in the AFL. The loyalty shown to our 2021 heroes whilst admirable was not in the best interests of this season as a whole as we don't have any new ready made younger players for the team prepared for 2023. Recruiting and trading is vital in the KPF plus running mids and flankers to bolster our speed. We are still in the Window for flags land need to learn from this season.

Farewell Luke Jackson
We are not dealing with WCoast! Unless Freo and WC do a deal !!!! Stiff luck a WC trade is not on the books yet !!!

Farewell Luke Jackson
Potentially style wise he appears a more rounded player than either Toby or Kade.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
It was Salo's groin in the last round. Gee we have some ill balanced and unbelievedly harsh judges in our midst both in D/L Anders and general supporters. If you look at all our players out with injuries during the season most came back and either took a long time to get into form or the injury may well have been a reason for below form issues . in that regard There were: Rivers played Round 1 with big bandages on Lee area Form average played well near end of season but average to poor Finals games. Salem Injured in first 5 mins if the season came back about 12/-3 rounds later and only been near last years form in patches or for quarters in games. Lever Missed games in patch's with leg problems. Played 2/3 Lever style games but others below his ability and composure. Jacko After calf injury 2/3 of way through season was not the same with energy bounce and skills. Mobility seemed effected. Others not in their best form over the year after injury have been BBB Langers Gawny ( carrying injury ) Trac really hasn't been same match winner with impact since he played Freo with illness. Others who have just have not played as well in 2022 as in 2021 are: Sparrow Spargo ANB Bowser ( should have played Finals) and possibly Harmsey. On the plus side Fritsch ( goals ) Kossie ( goals ) Clarry ( awards) all had pretty much same excellent standards in performances again like 2021. Improvers were Angus ( brilliant in different positions HBF and on ball) and Jordan( consistent and developed his game) until injury near Finals. Jayden H had improved season also in style of play and disposal and guarding small fast players. Tmac was missed at CHF as his marking, goals, and most importantly bullock ing and team play which assisted our smaller forwards. He stops defenders marking and provides a great ability for keeping the ball alive in our forward line. I doesnt take much to be 5% off your game for all of the above reasons plus no new players really stamped themselves or were given opportunities to prosper in the AFL largely due to the negatively persistent selection policy. In 2023 at least half a dozen AFL level players will need to be discovered with 1or 2 through trades in, 1 or 2 drafted and Tmac JVR Bowey Turner and the Bedfords Chandlers and Dunstans stepping up. Tomlinson after a post ACL season will be a better player in depth.Sam W as a Jacko replacement might succeed.Joel Smith is a mystery but time to produce. Draftees from 2020 and 2021 like Howes Bailey AMW and McPhee Rosman and Woewodin are all prospects that a proper pre season will provide further development potential to work with. X factors like selflessness trust confidence and team buy in etc. are in need of revisiting at 2021 standards. Changes at selection to keep all in the loop and not just a privileged 25 are necessary for improvement to keep all on their toes. Perhaps the pressure of back to back at the G will be off and our ability which is undoubtedly there will flourish as a result. Tweaking the game plan with more aggression and positive football ( not kicking to the pockets) and playing games out In the fourth term not just protecting leads, maybe fitness is a factor but our minds naturally are very important from now on. Fifth place is underwhelming and no Finals wins also but there are always reasons and most of the above are I M O relevant and need addressing in the coming pre season and beyond. I believe our Club is up to it and has the desire to continue improving according to our Plan.

When the total of many of the listed parts adds up there is no doubt that the selfless team oriented culture took a nosedive and the AFL team being protected by negative selection it's enough to have a serious impact plus the injury issues and stemming to trivialise some meant we were not sure about fitness of our players. we definitely missed on our last half's scoring plus the careless forward work when we were on song which came back to bite us. Reset in 2023 with a new forward coach and more positive ideas in our game plan and get the best out of our ability and another flag is indeed possible.
