I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it's just Melbourne's luck to be on top of the ladder towards the pointy end of the season and being faced in a scenario where the GF may be played interstate when many fans who have been through hell over the years may have trouble attending. Obviously all depends on COVID etc and restrictions. I don't care too much about the parade and some of that fan fare, but dream amount that moment, sitting at the G and hearing that final siren.

MFC player racially abused on social media - club statement
roy11 replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Definitely discriminated against, I know things are different during war time but during WW2 Italian Immigrants in Australia were heavily discriminated against and ~5000 civilians were interned by the government for being "enemy aliens". The treatment lingered and some families took a long time to financially recover etc. Imagine they clash unfortunately, but could all wear the same shirt before the game and have a big huddle together before the game starts. -
well a few things, mainly Harmes played well but seemingly wasn't on for as long as others. Maybe less time to make an error aha. Nah well played all. Good win for Goodwin
-
Will get trickier with Jack back.

Found some of the Time on Ground interesting for this week; Jordon - 53% Harmes - 54% Vandenberg - 58%

Assume they missed game time this weekend and Burgo just wanted them to have a run. Similar to how unused substitutes in soccer often do some fitness after the game. Uncertain why they were in full kit though. That was the only confusing part aha

He's consistent here at least.

I like how we’re complaining about the umpires yet absolutely got away with the Petty incident aha

Stadium playing Foo Fighters - ‘The pretender’ before the second half starts ^_-

Seeing we like to draw inspiration from the USA, wonder if we’ll ever have a post season lottery for top few draft picks. Would reduce the tanking argument a little and another Night of TV drama for the folks at AFL HQ

Changing sports for a minute, 3 Portsmouth youth players (all aged under 18) were sacked after a racist conversation was leaked online after the Euros. It's balancing act of punishing the individual/needing to set an example against educating the offender. (An Extension of the retributive vs restorative justice debate if you will) I don't know the answer or what is appropriate punishment for any of these instances. For Walker you can say 6 weeks isn't enough and you're probably right. Even if the AFL went harder on Walker I sadly don't think that would reduce the amount of racist comments some indigenous players receive online.

Understand some players take longer to develop, would be a shame if some other club got the benefit. Tmac/BBB seemingly have a few years left and need to wonder how much game-time he'll get if he stays. But as always you need to keep an eye on the future and an eye on the salary cap as well so hopefully something can be worked out. Would be cruel yet typical scenario if we lost Jacko and Weid and miss out on Mac Andrew

at least your weekend was ruined by a result. Nervous about the game tonight, especially with the weather. Curious to see how Melksham goes tonight, we have missed his delivery into the F50

Yeh I don't agree with every comment they make on decisions but find the account interesting as it's presented in a methodical way which sort of helps understand how a decision was reached. Can then decide if I agree with their interpretation or not. Better than the commentators just shouting words.

If anyone has twitter; this is an interesting account to follow; https://twitter.com/hasumpstuffedup Goes through contentious incidents from all games.

Wonder if/when AFL Players' Association president Patrick Dangerfield will have anything to say about the Dangerfield matter.

Wonder what happens to the Grand Final Guarantee if it is hosted interestate

Most things that Geelong do personnel wise confuse me, this is no exception.

Was in the MCC about 5 rows back, very loud sound. Big OOF moment

I think his best position (for individual performance) is in the middle. For the sake of the team I think he is the best option for defensive wing position, reads it well as shown by his intercept marks/spoils/possessions etc.

Viney says Jaw, maybe he thinks everyone’s Jaw is as big as his aha

Expect better from a Vice Captain but if any player found themselves facing suspension for something completely unnecessary late in the 4th quarter in a game that was over at half time I would still be annoyed. With Jack, I'm not calling for his blood but he's out of form and I want him to play himself into form, missing game/s won't help
-
AFL a bit soft on swinging elbows, but IF Jack was doing something that meant a player couldn’t easily breathe he’ll miss games and can only blame himself
-
Looked like elbow to throat/neck for 4~5 seconds. Agreed it does look malicious and prolonged and Can understand the AFL being tough as it’s not just wrestling. imagine that’s one change for this week sorted then
-
pushing into the neck/throat bit silly to rub yourself out in a 98 point win.
