Bathwater = Bust?
If we beat Sydney and the Cats win then we still won't have beaten anyone in the 8 (unless NMEL win by squillions to leapfrog Geelong on %). What a delightfully awkward situation that will be. The media/naysayers will be twisting themselves in virtual knots to spin that negatively: "Melbourne beat an undermanned/tired Sydney [Ed: without Viney, Lever, Hibberd, Melksham, Smith etc] and STILL haven't beaten anyone [Ed: currently] in the 8." I would have loved to have seen that continue into the finals; alas, we will need to beat WCE and/or GWS so everyone is going to have begrudgingly admit that yes we beat 1 (or 2, or 3, or 4, if NMEL come in) teams in the 8 (once) ... but of course "we're still lucky to have just gotten there."

Allen Jakovich on The Front Bar (9/8)
I wish we saw more of this swashbuckling, derring-do, devil-may-care flair and panache in footy. Watching his 11 goal game against North - imagine if we had him now.

Literally the best thing I've seen on YT in ages. I quickly whipped this animated gif up for DLers so you can download, email to your phones and send to your MFC and nonMFC mates alike. I recommend sending to WC supporters as a priority but I realise most of us have the good grace, sense and dignity to avoid mixing with their kind.

Demonland is frequently subject to trolling. It's most unpleasant. On this occasion though, I thought it was witty.

Just had this exact discussion with a Hawks supporter at work. It was very frustrating until I read this. On brain fades, well they can happen: like when I couldn't get some old guttering and silicon to come apart so instead of patiently working away, I drove a 20 tonne bulldozer into the entire shed in a pique of rage. The Wife Review Tribunal has handed down an extended sentence.

Roosy on Dees vs Swans
The Pies supporters I know are worse than MFCSS.

Run home to Finals - 2018
Interesting that all the models have us beating them, and most by decent margins. Thanks for the clarification.

I suppose the outcome was 2 QCs made their case, the tribunal considered it, and may or may not have paid any weight to his claim that he didn't intend to hit Brayshaw, probably inferred by his unblemished record and implied by his character references.

Really well put. I feel very sorry for both of them.

What if you were being paid 700k a year to work with them

Andrew Gaff
Can you summarise? Was he paraphrasing Demons FD position, or his personal position. Would the club let his personal feelings prevent them from adding to the club's chance of a flag?

Losing Jack Viney
It's strange how quick some are to jump on others.

The 2018 Membership Ladder
You think interstate/international/armchair members should be excluded? They are not insubstantial given the $. If you had 2000 (of 45,000 or so) paying $80 for a digital membership, it is 160k of membership revenue less the cost of a lanyard, membership card and posting it out to them. Same logic for interstate/international (with a higher membership fee than non access).

The 2018 Membership Ladder
It would be interesting to understand the difference in marketing approach and membership package composition between the MFC and its VIC peers to pick apart the big uplift the likes of STK etc have had. Having a quick look at some of the for-like memberships, the MFC inclusions - for the armchair/digital as a quick example - equivalents are lesser but for more money. Price and inclusions are obviously not the only factor, of course, but they could be a factor. Does anyone have any insight into the difference in marketing approach? The SKFC, Carlton, EFC and Geelong increases are substantial. SKFC and Carlton especially so.

Friday Night Lights 2019
It's not just 7.50PM games though. Lots of kids will be in bed before half time, if not earlier.

Who do we realistically target for a trade?
I like how your plan not only boosts our stocks but aims to cripple another club. Deevious.

Run home to Finals - 2018
Pies for me. On the balance of probability, we will win 2/4, 3/4 maybe, 4/4 unlikely. Without looking at the ladder predictor, we'd have to win 3 or 4 to crack top 4 (?). I think I'd prefer the Pies and others in top 4 to start taking games off those around us and most likely to push us down if (not when, but if) we fail. But as you say, if we just keep winning, it all becomes academic. Good insurance though.
