  1. I like the cut of McAdam's jib. If he can keep himself fit he'll add some much-needed spark up forward for the rest of the season.
  2. Who is "Dirk"?

McGovern out this week Sir Swish

Sounds like a much closer race for his services than it was a couple of years ago. Kalani's always been a Melbourne supporter but the lure of staying at home and playing with the mates he's come through the Suns with would be really strong. Good to hear Jeff say the Dees have been fantastic with Kalani and the family though, sounds like we're doing all we can.

The "they" in the first tweet is Adelaide.

Huh? He's a free agent when his contract expires in 2025. He came out of the 2017 draft.
  7. You're expecting a 100 point win?! Bookies have that as $34 a chance if you're that confident!
  8. Fullarton a key forward type? He’s kicked 6 goals from 19 games. I’m struggling to understand the clamour for his inclusion. He’s never shown anything at AFL level to suggest he should be anything more than a backup. As @binman said, we only need someone to take about 10% of ruck contests. JVR is that man and is also a dangerous forward. Fullarton could also take 10% of ruck contests but is not a dangerous forward.

Perhaps that might be because he’s played most of his career down back 🤨 As stated earlier, he was drafted as a forward and is looking to settle as a forward.

Hopefully not Cranky, but as an ex-pick 2 who’s not only available but would fill a gaping positional need for us, it’s probably worthy of a discussion?

Lot of talk about Lukosius now being available, as discussed by Sam Edmund on SEN this morning with Walter and Ben King seemingly Hardwick’s preferred KPF duo. He also added that Lukosius is getting fed up with being moved around the park as much as he has been and would like to settle as a KPF. Adelaide boy but apparently not wedded to returning home. He hasn’t lived up to his potential thus far, and has a bit of the Jack Watts’ about him in being beautifully skilled but perhaps not relishing the physical side of the game. But I reckon we could do a lot worse than getting him in to play that roaming role while JVR (and hopefully Petty) develop as more your stay at home types, especially if he’s available for a pick later than 20 or so. Thoughts?

Odd post. He finished 3rd in their BnF last year, and has finished top 3 for the last five years straight. Not sure you can get much more consistent than that.

Fair enough mate and can see your point of view with all those points. Certainly wasn’t meant to be an attack on anyone and hope it wasn’t taken that way. I’m a lover not a fighter!

Just say “thanks for your reviews and feedback”! Imagine if for instance the Fox footy podcast or the deebrief spent half their shows detailing every positive review they received rather than talking about actual footy, how bored you’d get of them. For me, I listen to a podcast cos I’m interested in the subject matter and I’d assume that would be the same for most people? Not sure I’m saying anything earth shattering. And if you disagree that’s fine too, I’m not trying to have a blue with anyone!

Oh absolutely - by all means include the questions, they’re often great. But if it’s just someone going “Hi Andy, love the podcast, I reckon binman is the best thing since sliced bread and my favourite ever player was Rod Grinter. Go Dees etc etc”, that sort of stuff to me is a waste of time and I wonder what the benefit is. That’s just a review and feedback for you as a host, not sure why anybody else would be interested. But it’s your podcast, and your prerogative to run it as you please!
  16. Um

Oh I agree. The actual footy chat is generally pretty good and the ones where there’s a guest like Jase Taylor, an assistant coach or a player are unmissable. It’s more the time wasted when the host takes time out to read out verbatim the positive feedback and reviews given by listeners. Not sure why any listener would be interested in this and whenever I listen, it seems to take up great chunks of the podcast. The footy chat itself is good, but there’s fat to cut. I think it’s a good podcast but could be better, that’s all! Others may think it’s perfect and that’s great too 🤷‍♂️

Huh? I’m not asking for them to change anything. They can do whatever they like! Just passing on some feedback that for people of a similar age and situation as me in that 25-50 age bracket that it’s really hard to find the time to listen to a 2.5 hour long podcast and that there’s probably a bit of fat they could cut from it. @binman appreciated the feedback and wasn’t offended, not sure why you seem to be?

Dee Boys replied to DeeBlood's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
It’s not so much that I’ve got a short attention span, just that I’ve got a young family, have other podcasts I try to also fit in during the week, and consequently barely ever have a free 2.5 hours for it. It wasn’t meant as an insult and glad @binman didn’t take it as such. For those who are retired or with a bit more time on their hands, I’m sure it’s less of an issue.

With all due respect to the contributors, there’s absolutely zero doubt that the podcast would be twice as good if it were half as long.
  20. If we’re going to give him a pump up we can probably make the effort to get his name right…
  21. Haha who on earth said they’d fly out tomorrow? With the CBA you can’t just make players “work” without days off to do what they want for 9 days in a row without a break, especially for those with young families. The club would never spend two more days away than necessary…

They’ve just cracked 50,000 members within 3 hours of being announced! Their stated goal was 40,000 by October. A proper football state finally getting their own team. So much better for the competition than soulless franchises like GWS and GC. I wish them well.

We were offered him by Freo when he left, they’d have taken peanuts. Jesse wanted to come back. Club said no due to his off field issues, probably understandably at the time. God we could do with him at the moment though!
  24. As I said WCW, I like Kate, and I was absolutely listening properly. I was on a table right in front of the lectern, the same one as her. When chatting to her afterwards she admitted she’d chosen her words badly and wished she’d had her time again. It’s OK to show a modicum of objectivity. You don’t need to blindly defend every single little thing the club does. There are those on here who won’t hear a good word spoken about the club and there are those who won’t hear a bad word spoken about the club. Both groups are pathetic, and as bad as each other. Debate each topic on its merits for gods sake. See grey rather than only black and white!
  25. I'll preface this by saying I like Kate personally and think she's done a great job as President. But I was there and I can tell you the remark went down like an absolute lead balloon on our table and those surrounding ours. Eyebrows raised all over the show and was discussed critically at length afterwards. And for those saying it wasn't, for some reason, it absolutely was in regard to the noise supporters make. I found it an extraordinary misreading of the room, especially when talking to the most died-in-the-wool supporters the club has who have paid a fortune to be there, and also after the Maynard incident and Collingwood supporters' subsequent reaction.
