TRAINING: Monday 12th May 2025
Pretty disrespectful way to speak to one of the few posters who actually attends training frequently and provides valuable updates. And he’s right, our training schedule this year is different to all other 17 clubs. I thought this was common knowledge?

Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
I agree with you, as usual. To me Tholstrup is a 6/10 in just about every trait. Far be it from me to criticise Jason Taylor who’s hit most high picks out of the park, but I don’t see any standout weapons that a top 15 pick should have. He’s a decent kick, a decent mark, decent physicality, seems a good teammate. But a pick 50 would get you that. I don’t see any class. I’m worried he’s a Luke Tapscott.

TRAINING: Friday 9th May 2025
Sadly he doesn’t have the smarts and running patterns of ANB. Brisbane let him go because they felt like he was a headless chook and having watched him closely at games there’s not much rhyme or reason to a lot of his movement. Love to be proved wrong.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
Well no side has replicated that five minutes since, or possibly previously. It was football from the dream factory. That's why it'll be talked about for generations. If it was that easy to do we'd be kicking 700 points a game!

Media Madness
Racetrack Ralphy who's not everyone's cup of tea but is a passionate Demon and long time media figure put it best when I heard him speak before a game years ago. For the big clubs, good news sells. That's why you'll rarely see anything critical about Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn, Geelong and West Coast in WA. And why you get the annual "this is their year - things are different this time around" article about Essendon when they're 7-5 at halfway before the inevitable falling off a cliff. For the smaller clubs, bad news sells. Only a small amount of people actually care about any good news, the vast majority only want to read about any drama or negative slants about the likes of Norf, Dogs, us, Saints and Freo in WA. This isn't to say that every negative report on us is rubbish by the way, but that's always stuck with me.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Mate we all love Clarry. He will go down as one of the club's greatest ever footballers. But the club ALWAYS comes first. He hasn't performed to anywhere near the value of his contract for a couple of years now, and if he wants a fresh start it might be the best thing for all parties as long as we're fairly compensated. Discussing this isn't disrespectful in the slightest. It will sting seeing him in another team's colours but we're at a really important list management juncture at the moment. If we don't get these decisions right, with Tassie about to come into the comp and compromised drafts, we'll be destined for another long period in the wilderness. Strong clubs make strong, considered, objective decisions.

The Steven May appreciation thread
He's certainly not the player he was, surely even the most one-eyed Demon would admit that. You used to be able to play him on talls or smalls but now when the ball hits the deck his lack of agility really gets exposed. I'm now more comfortable with Tom McDonald in one-on-one situations than May which I never thought would be the case.

TRAINING: Thursday 1st May 2025
Yep and a healthier injury list.

TRAINING: Thursday 1st May 2025
Feels like this is the first time this season where there’s real competition for spots, especially in the front half. There’ll be some good players left out of the side…

Welcome to Demonland: Bayley Fritsch
Cal Twomey saying he thinks Fritsch is gettable at the end of the season and that the likes of Hawthorn, Collingwood and Brisbane are sniffing around. He was pretty firm post game last week that he’s got no interest in leaving, and I’d be sad to see him go unless we got something silly for him. We’re hardly blessed with natural goal kickers on the list…

The James Worpel Thread
Got a lot of Hawthorn supporting mates and not one of them are remotely upset about the prospect of losing him. Has gone backwards at a rate of knots from his first couple of years. Not quick, not a great kick, not a great decision maker. No thanks.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Good intel GW. I’d thought he was Collingwood also!

The Toby Sinnema Thread
Shifter Sheehan’s Herald Sun write up from top 75 prospects: TOBY SINNEMA Club: Victoria Country/Dandenong Stingrays/Devon Meadows Height: 180.2 cm DOB: 11/12/07 A classy midfielder, Sinnema’s athleticism and decisive decision making with the ball are features of his game. He played 17 matches for the Stingrays as a bottom-age player in the Coates Talent League last year, averaging 14 disposals including a season-high 23 touches against the Bushrangers in round 14. Sinnema also had a taste of representative football, playing for Vic Country at under-17 level against NSW-ACT and finishing as one of his side’s best players with 21 disposals in an impressive outing. He made a very promising start to 2025, averaging 19 disposals across the first three rounds for the Stingrays. He continued his form by being among Vic Country’s best players with 20 disposals in a trial match in April. Sinnema has Chinese heritage and is part of Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy.

The Kalani White Thread (F/S)
Shifter Sheehan’s write up today in the Herald Sun of the top 75 junior prospects: KALANI WHITEClub: Queensland/Gold Coast Suns Academy/ Broadbeach FC Height: 199 cm DOB: 05/05/07 A tall defender who has also shown he can go forward, White excites with his athleticism and outstanding overhead marking. He has a supernatural leap and the size to win contests in the air or bring the ball to ground to the benefit of his team. At the under-16 national championships in 2023 he was rarely beaten one-on-one and averaged seven disposals and two marks playing predominately deep in defence, earning All-Australian honours. White continued his development as a bottom-age player last year, which included 10 games in the pathway programs for the Suns Academy, Allies, Queensland’s under-17s and Team Sloane in the under-17 Futures game. He has continued his education early this year, playing forward and ruck as he expands his experiences. A member of the AFL Academy, he is still growing into his rangy body but showed glimpses of his potential with his strong marking in two matches against VFL opponents in April. The son of former No.1 draft pick and 236-game player Jeff White, he will have a decision to make later this year given he is father-son eligible for the Demons as well as being eligible to join the Suns through Academy rules.

The Next CEO
For all that people like to pick fault with Caro, she remains the best in the business with nailing off-field news.
- Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
-
The Next CEO
Why? The job is CEO, not footy boss. The last two CEO’s we’ve had that have had footy backgrounds (Schwab and Pert) have ended up leaving under clouds, despised by the playing group, as they meddled too much in the footy department.

TRAINING: Wednesday 23rd April 2025
He’s a 26 year old who’s played 20 AFL games and kicked 6 goals. The most goals he’s ever kicked in a game is 1. The most marks he’s ever taken in a game is 5. And the most hitouts he’s ever had in a game is 8. I want all our players to be the best player in the competition but he’s had chances! Give me even an out of form JVR or Fritsch over a bloke who’s clearly not up to the level any day of the week. Would love to end up with egg on my face but there’s just absolutely zero evidence to support the fact he’ll make it as a serviceable AFL player, and plenty to the contrary.

Trade Targets
We did.

Tom Fullarton
He’s 26! There’s a reason he’s only played 19 AFL games in that time
