  1. Hope you’re right mate. It’s all doom and gloom on trade radio - “Clarry devastated” etc 🙄
  2. Say what you like about Tim Lamb, but he actually walked the walk in terms of helping deliver our club a flag, rather than just talking the talk. I think I’d rather that.
  3. This is exactly the issue! As I said in another thread a few days ago, the club have been deeply disappointed with Tholstrup both on and off field this year. It’s now time for him to justify the faith the club’s showed in him.
  4. If a club’s willing to pay Jack Silvagni $900k a season, I’m pretty sure a club would be happy to take over Petracca’s $1.3m a season 😆
  5. Morris thinks Flanders more likely to go to St Kilda ☹️
  6. Glad to hear/hoping Tholstrup’s knuckling down in this off-season. He was hit right between the eyes during his exit interview that his on field performances and off field habits are a long way off AFL standard, let along first round draft pick standards. One to watch in pre-season.
  7. What on earth are you talking about? Twomey’s probably the most reliable journalist in the business.
  8. The players are really pleased Whitford’s been appointed to the head of development role. I won’t denigrate Choco, he’s been great, but he’s reached his use by date. Whitford’s a terrific relationship builder (which is probably half the role) and an excellent communicator. He’s earnt his chance. And by saving a bit of money on this role, it’ll hopefully allow a couple of bigger name appointments around King.
  9. Tough when you’re picked up as one of the best mids in the VFL, then thrown in at AFL level in a graveyard position you haven’t played much before. And then told to go back to the VFL to try to perfect that same thankless, often unrewarded position. Not at all saying the club’s wrong to do this, it obviously makes sense to play him in that high half forward role at VFL level if that’s where he’ll play in the senior team. Just that it’s hard for him, or anyone, to stand out on the stats sheet when playing it. Hoping he can get his groin right and have an impact next year.
  10. Agree with the point you’re making about us needing to trade in better players but over half?! 6 of Geelong’s prelim final 23 started at another club. Our 2021 GF side had 5.
  11. Just been told Lappin’s staying at Geelong sadly.
  12. It beggars belief that anyone could be this naive and delusional.
  13. He’s been at Geelong for 17 years. Might feel like it’s time for a new challenge. Would be an unbelievable get. This is a great read on him; https://www.afl.com.au/news/1422313/uncut-gems-how-geelong-cats-built-empire-from-rookies-rejects-and-draft-leftovers
  14. We’d be absolutely laughed out of the room with that proposal.
  15. It’s an article from three days ago. Nothing new.
  16. The minutiae around the circumstances of him signing isn’t really important. I just hope Judd can return to the form we all know he’s capable of.
  17. Dee Boys replied to biggestred's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is a bit silly. May would’ve told plenty of people around him - friends, family and teammates. Not to mention his management are obviously across it along with lots of people from the club. Only takes one. Journos are on top of every club’s possible comings and goings. The fact the King news came out before anyone in the media even had an inkling he was a strong contender is a good sign.
  18. Up there with @Chook in Perth and @goodwindees
  19. Listened to it yesterday and there was no link to us whatsoever. This is the transcript from the bit about Simpkin: “What about Jy Simpkin, another captain? It's unprecedented the amount of captains that are looking to move at the moment. He's exploring his options as well after a season spent playing on half forward and across the wing. Yeah, four years to go left on his deal as well. And North Melbourne looking at Marcus Windhager to add to their midfield too. So it's tough to get into that midfield given the star quality. Look, Richmond always had a little bit of interest after he had some links there as an under 18. But I don't think that would be the case now. He knows it will be a challenge for him to find a new home, given the price, given the contract, given the role. But he's wanted to have a look regardless.”
  20. Haven’t seen us linked to Simpkin anywhere. Thankfully.
  21. I also missed him by a decade or so but sounds like an amazing footballer and human being. Everyone says we were almost a one man team during his career. How on earth did he only win one BnF?
  22. Not last touch mate, last disposal. Punches or fumbles out don’t count. And only between the arcs. There’ll still be plenty of boundary throw ins.
