  1. Langford and Tauru would be a dream result.
  2. As much as I’d be thrilled with that, he clearly doesn’t know his stuff if that’s what he’s got happening!
  3. Every expert has said we’re not keen on Draper, and Smith is likely to be gone.
  4. By all reports FOS is the one out of all of them with the lowest floor but the highest ceiling. The same type of player as these two - could be Col Sylvia and have all the tools but never quite kick on…or could be Dangerfield. Not as foolproof as Smith or Draper who have much higher floors but if you back our development team in then there’s a hell of a lot to work with and he could end up being the best of the lot of them.
  5. As much as Tauru has huge potential it's going to take a fair bit of time for him to realise it. Think I'd feel a bit flat if we ended up with him at 5 rather than the premium mid I'd been thinking we'd take. Getting him at 9 would be a different story, would be stoked with that.
  6. FROM THE HERALD SUN Adelaide may be forced to give up a future second-round pick to move two spots up this year’s draft order as part of a bold play for Victorian midfielder Jagga Smith. The Crows currently hold pick 4 in next Wednesday’s national draft but have held discussions with North Melbourne about the possibility of trading up to pick 2. It is believed that the player in Adelaide’s sights is Smith, a prolific ball-winning midfielder who captained Vic Metro at the under-18 national championships. Rival clubs believe the Crows are fearful that Carlton would select Smith at pick 3 if Adelaide remains at pick 4. Smith has been arguably the best-performed underage footballer in the country this year, with recruiters describing him as a “bankable” high-end prospect and future AFL captain. The 18-year-old would add a different dynamic to the Crows’ midfield with his speed and agility. He averaged 33.3 disposals, 7.9 clearances and 154 ranking points from 12 games for the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League this year. It is understood that Adelaide recently offered North Melbourne pick 4 and two future third-round selections in exchange for pick 2, but the offer was knocked back. The Kangaroos are believed to be eyeing pick 4 and a future second-round selection to get the deal done. The pre-draft pick swap window closed last Friday, but clubs are still able to make live trades during the draft. Richmond is still expected to take midfielder-forward Sam Lalor with the No.1 pick. North Melbourne has been linked to midfielder Finn O’Sullivan in recent days if it holds on to pick 2, despite long being favoured to select exciting 193cm utility Alix Tauru. If Adelaide was to beat Carlton to Smith, the Blues could nab South Australian Sid Draper. Carlton coach Michael Voss and list manager Nick Austin flew to Adelaide in the past week to meet with the explosive midfielder. If North Melbourne was to overlook Tauru at pick 2, he would not be expected to get past Melbourne at pick 5 given the Demons are big fans of the Gippsland Power high-flyer. Richmond looks almost certain to select big-bodied midfielder Josh Smillie with pick 6, while Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Levi Ashcroft is also expected to receive a bid within the first six picks.
  7. Also says that Adelaide will pick Smith if he gets to them. With the same intel in the Herald Sun this morning it looks like Jagga may end up being out of reach for us sadly.
  8. Why? All the talk recently is they’re heavily into Smillie and would take him over Jagga if they’re both available.
  9. From today’s Herald Sun: Highly-rated Victorian midfielder Jagga Smith is looking increasingly certain to be a top-five draft pick next Wednesday, with Harvey Langford shaping as a potential slider to St Kilda’s first selection. Smith is believed to have strong interest from Carlton (pick 3), Adelaide (pick 4) and Melbourne (pick 5) and is no longer expected to get past the Demons. Richmond is still favoured to select Sam Lalor at pick 1 but has also weighed up Finn O’Sullivan. With North Melbourne eyeing Alix Tauru at pick 2, Carlton looks set to have a choice between O’Sullivan, Sid Draper and Smith.
  10. 8?! Viney, Woewodin and Brown are on the 2025 list. Who else am I missing?
  11. Everything that could possibly have gone wrong this season did go wrong. And still we only finished two games out of the 8. Finals should be the bare minimum objective next season.
  12. The Liverpool that have won the league once in the last 34 years?
  13. Didn’t Jagga dominate when he played at VFL level for Richmond?
  14. Was responding to his second sentence.
  15. According to you. But not according to any experts.
  16. We were desperate for Max Holmes to slip through to us at this pick - unfortunately Geelong traded into the pick beforehand to take him from under our noses.
  17. Every supporter base thinks the AFL hates their club 🙄

  19. THE KEY FORWARD WHO ‘COPIED’ ESSENDON CHAMPION’S ROUTINE The best key forward in this year’s draft class copied the goalkicking approach of a former Essendon champion but could instead be pulling on a Melbourne jumper next year. Recruiters lauded Harry Armstrong for his marking this season, along with the fact that he “kicks goals, not behinds” when opportunities present. That has not always been the case, though, with Armstrong being forced to get to work on his goalkicking last year. He regularly stayed back after training and worked to bed down a routine with his school coach at Haileybury College, Matthew Lloyd. “It wasn’t always natural. It’s something I’ve worked hard at,” Armstrong said of his goalkicking. “It’s pretty much thanks to Lloydy, to be honest. Last year I kicked a lot of points and then I got to work on it after almost every training session with Lloydy. He showed me the technique he thought was best and I just copied it, pretty much. It hasn’t let me down so far.” Across three games for Vic Metro during the under-18 national championships this year, Armstrong kicked 9.3 at 75 per cent accuracy. In the Coates Talent League with the Sandringham Dragons he kicked 27 goals at 61.4 per cent accuracy, while there was also a 10-goal haul for Haileybury this year. “He’s been an inspiration,” Armstrong said of Lloyd. “I’ve learnt so much from him as well. Playing as a key forward, having him as your coach, there wouldn’t be too many better. He’s so invested and I’ve got so much out of him.” A Geelong fan, Armstrong models his game on Jeremy Cameron and similarly works hard up the ground to provide a marking option. The 195cm forward’s contested marking stood out this year, along with his speed, athleticism and an improved ground ball game. Rival clubs believe Melbourne (pick five) could be first to pounce on Armstrong in next month’s draft, potentially getting in before St Kilda. Armstrong said he felt he had developed strongly this year after not being exposed to the Coates Talent League in 2023 due to a “random” hip infection late in the season. “Coming in this year I was just wanting to play as many games as possible,” he said. “The more games I played, the more confident I was in myself.”
  20. Try to draft the best players possible? Let's hope Jason Taylor's reading!
