Angus Brayshaw
If it wasn't for Max, I'd think Gus would make an excellent captain - and I'm sure that leadership qualities are what other clubs see in him, in addition to his football ability. He is a "must keep" man IMO.

GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Daz, there is a good reason the selectors chose Sam over M.Brown, so we should respect that, and wish Sam well. (Mind you, I also have NFI why Mitch wasn't selected after last weeks performance - but what would we know?)

GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Best wishes to Sam - he has his chance, and I hope he is able to find his mojo again. I think if he concentrates on constantly leading to space - rather than trying for the big pack marks - he should do well, as we now have the players ahead of him capable of hitting him lace out. Once he gets his confidence, the pack marks will likely follow.

Someone Has a New Job - Kate Roffey
Hopefully the new MFC base is firmly in place - just awaiting Government announcement - or if not, could this new appointment for Kate be some form of a conflict of interest for her in also leading MFC's push for our new home?

Max Gawn - Slow start
I think that opposition coaches, over the last 2 or 3 years, have put so much effort into nullifying Maxās dominant ruck craft, that we rarely see his āsilver serviceā taps to our mids any more - that once was so commonplace. Max has changed the way the game is now played, and despite this change, Max is still the premier ruckman, and has still won AA honours during this period. As such, I have no worries about Max playing some quieter games, and while SDās observations may be accurate reflections of what he saw, Iām not concerned about Max at all.

Bevo unleashes on Tom Morris
IMO, based on the words Bevo used in his attack on Morris, I would very much doubt that he knew of the Morris recordings prior to his outburst. His attack was solely levelled at Morris based on his selection scoop. Look at the descriptions and terms used in this post to describe Morris after the recordings were known. Surely some of those sentiments and labels would have been included in Bevoās speech if heād had prior knowledge - but they werenāt. No, I think Bevoās attack was solely based on Morris embarrassing him and the club, and possibly causing a trust issue between Hunter and Bevo.

Bevo unleashes on Tom Morris
Ernie, great post and agreed with everything you said except the above sentence. I can understand Bevo wanting to āoutburstā, but for someone who has been in the system for as long as he has, the outburst was so highly unprofessional you have got to worry about Bevo rather than feel sorry for him. I know coaches are under pressure as you state, but itās only the first round for goodness sake. I hope he has some good people around him.

Bevo unleashes on Tom Morris
Iām of the opinion that itās only been in recent times (last 10-20 years?) that certain journos have acted in the way that Morris did - ie receiving info about team selections prior to club release. Prior to that, I only ever remember journos commenting on what clubs formerly or informally issued to the media - rarely, if ever, did āscoopsā occur that clubs didnāt want known. And itās our desire for instant information that has led to the breading of ājournalistsā such as Morris, Barrett and Cornes, so we probably only have ourselves to blame that they even exist. I might be old school but personally I can wait till the MFC formally issue the team news or update. Iām no better off (and my life isnāt changed) for having speculation about selection one or two days prior to its factual release. But I do know for a fact that Iād much prefer to wait for my news if it meant not having bottom feeders like Morris et al being thrust upon me.

Bevo unleashes on Tom Morris
Although not an unexpected outcome, and in spite my personal dislike of the man, I find it sad that he has been so stupid as to throw his career away - caught in his own media trap. Who would touch him now? Then i think about how his poor ex Fox colleague must be feeling - or how probably 80% of the worlds population would have reacted to his video - and any and all sadness for his stupidity dries up completely.

Casey Demons 2022
Hey Werridee, thanks for your efforts today, much appreciated. But tell me, what happened to the great depth we are supposed to have (not including the extra VFL players)? It doesn't sound like any of these guys will be pushing for senior selection any time soon.

āSound the Alarmā The Goody Mic'd Up Documentary
He certainly was impressive Ernie. And I think a lot of the credit for allowing Goodie to be his best has to go initially to Gary Pert and subsequently to Richo for the way they project managed the football department in setting up the structures, together with the right personnel for the right spots, which freed Goodie to do what he does best. I don't think Pert and Richo have received, from outside of the Club, the due credit that they deserve.

Oliver on Petracca
I luv Trac, who gets comparisons with great players like Dusty and Danger. But I really luv Oli, who is so unique, I cannot think of one player he can be compared to, past or present. He is that āspecialā.

Vale Shane Warne
Loved this from Brydon Coverdale: "It's hard to imagine the cricket world without Warne in it. But then, it was hard to imagine music without John Lennon, or the royal family without Princess Diana, or basketball without Kobe Bryant. True icons leave holes of iconic proportions. But still, the world turns. Australian cricket goes on in Rawalpindi. Cricket existed before Warne and it exists after him. But few people have left such an indelible mark on the game. Warne was a cricketing genius. You can't do him justice with mere words. It's like using interpretive dance to sum up Albert Einstein's contributions to science. All you can do is sit back and marvel that such a person existed. And be thankful to have witnessed a genius at work".

I would encourage everyone to watch the Warnie special that Howie has put together on Fox/ Kayo. Just a superb celebration of his life, and what a wonderful man he really was.
