Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Sorry but Alves was a favourite of mine - and a Club great. Why would you feel the need to make such a comment?

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
If you are saying that the chances of winning a premiership this year are lessoned by having him in the side, then can I suggest we seriously consider dropping him for the grand final. Simples.

Sam Van Rooyen in for Ben Brown on LTI?
I’d say no, but I do think we would be monitoring Sam’s younger brother who could be the best of all 3 of them.

LG, I wouldn't cheerfully do it for free. But I'd charge less than he would.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 24th January 2024
Dee, with Tomlinson, TMac and Turner all competing for the role of 3rd tall, I wouldn't have considered Hore as a 3rd tall option at all. He's a flanker IMV and is the same height (191cm) and weight (approx, within 4-5kg) as Howes. So i considered both would be competing for the same role - hence the question. Personally, I would prefer Hore, but wouldn't mind seeing Howes take on a wing role.

Who is more likely to get first go down back - Hore or Howes - based on training to date?

The thing I really respect and admire about ANB has been his determination to continually work on and improve his basic football skills. He has always been a great athlete, but his ball handling skills, until this past year in particular, have been, imo, well below the standard required to maintain a permanent position within the team. In his early years he rarely had clean control over the ball - he seemed to almost always fumble. Hence, he became a whipping boy on here. But those days are hopefully fully behind him as he has worked his butt off to improve these skills, as the last half of last year showed. He is not a natural footballer like a McVee, so he has had to work harder than most to reach his current standard. He was never a favourite of mine, but because of the skills improvement he has achieved, ANB is now a Dee's player I admire more than most.

Training Ground?
- Training Ground?
Sorry, but i had posted this in the wrong thread: dp while i admire your enthusiasm, do you really know what's required to mount an alternative option to the Club? Do you know what physical facilities are actually required by the Club? Do you know how much physical space would be required to house these facilities? These are the very first steps before you can look at any possible alternative site. I'm guessing you don't really have these basic ingredients yet. Only then can you go out looking for suitable public land. I say public because any privately owned land would have a price tag that we could never afford. Then the hard part begins. Looking for public land that does not have heritage issues (ie the MCG Precinct); does not cause a loss of public visual amenity (ie the Yarra Park proposal); does not make homeless other sporting or recreation bodies, does not take away much required public open space; a site that can provide public benefit from some of the proposed works; a site that is easily accessible etc etc etc. Then when you think you have all that nailed down, you have to find the financial backing for that site. Therefore, it ain't as easy as seeing a vacant block of land and declaring that would make a good site! I'm afraid dp, that without having these basic initial criteria in hand, the Club - while they might appreciate your effort - will not take you seriously. That is most likely why you have not had a number of your questions answered. But on a more positive note, the Caulfield site really excites me as a proposal - much, much more than anything we had previously proposed in the MCG precinct. (I've been in the Master Planning game for a long time, so i do have some knowledge of these processes). I think we will all be extremely happy if we pull this proposal off. It's almost like we have waited 20 years for Caulfield to come along.- 2024 Preseason Training Thread

Back to the cricket. I’m so sick of seeing a petulant Steve Smith performance when he is given out. He blames everyone or everything but himself. And to stand in the middle of the pitch and stare after he was given out is just plain disrespectful and bad sportsmanship. He was a very good player- he no longer is. As for holding up play while a ball of sticky tape is removed from the sight screen area, was just a joke. Time for the selectors to look toward the future. Hopefully he can join Warner on the sidelines. He’s lost my respect as a player.- The year of the Dee
