  1. But who haven't we managed to beat with this game plan Jontee? The team that came first, the team that came third, the team that came 4th (twice), the team that came 5th (won one lost one) and the team that came 8th (won one and lost won). This plan would seem to now be obsolete and a hinderance against the better sides. Hopefully a better method next season.
  2. You are certainly passionate about this supporter noise Dr G, but perhaps your message needs to be wider spread as I’m sure you are preaching to the converted on here. Just a few general points I’d like to add: - we are obviously, in the main, a far more conservative bunch than the pies, tigers and blues supporters - but they are not collectively called “feral” for no good reason. Although 80k turned up to Fridays game, there was no condition of entry that said they must make a lot of noise during the whole game. Your highlighted sentence above almost implies there is. - Think back to 2018 and the 2 finals we played. The noise was overwhelming because the brand of football we played then was fast and chaotic and generated so much fan excitement. As a team this year, we have been playing a really conservative, safe brand of football that is frankly uninspiring. Far too few exciting passages of play per game to really get the juices flowing and vocal chords singing. Improve our game plan and you will see a big difference in the level of noise. - our amazing cheer squad make an extraordinary amount of noise and it is a shame that it is not more infectious amongst the rest of the crowd. Perhaps if other supporters knew the Demon Army chants, that might assist in getting more noise participation. Perhaps if there was one particular chant that could be taught and collectively voiced (led by the DA) when we need a lift, that might help. Just a thought. May your voice be joined by 60K like minded supporters this coming Friday, Dr G, as the devastating realisation that our season could possibly come to a crushing end. If that doesn’t inspire noise, nothing will.
  3. Again, I’m also envious of the way other teams use the full 180 degrees of ground available to them at the kick outs. The space this can and does create enables so many more options going forward. It can backfire, but more often that not, the risk is worth the reward if well executed. Unfortunately our mosh pit simply moves from the left hand forward line to the left hand wing, and our slow boring rinse and repeat plan continues to baffle us all. From an aesthetic point of view only, I much preferred watching the 3 other great finals games rather than ours - which is sad.
  4. Watching the other finals, I admired - and am extremely envious - of how open their forward lines were and how forwards were often leading into open paddocks of space. Our forward line is like a mosh pit and no one leads or has space to lead. When you’ve only got one key forward, surely a mosh pit is not a winning plan.
  5. Gus has one poor game (by his standards) and you want to move him from the middle after 4 great games in the same role? Glad you are not the coach.
  6. Gus did not lose us this game. Too many mistakes by too many, and too few putting in. Thank god for May and Oliver, or it would have been a walkover.
  7. If ANB is playing next week there is something very wrong
  8. Wouldn’t it be awful if the same thing happened to Collingwood on Saturday. karma.
  9. Thank you to Lucifers Hero for finally making time for the puzzle - and for just now getting it correct. Unfortunately she doesn’t make the top 3, but thoroughly deserves a mention. Demonstone, Mazer Rackham and La Dee-vina Comedia filled the first 3 places. The answer, I’d suggest, simply reflects part of the reason why we enjoy DL so much.
  10. Of course all parents want the best for their children, but I would suggest that the majority of comments here about LJ's mum are totally inappropriate, and probably false, so I'd recommend we leave her out of any further discussions.
  11. 3 "winners" so far - well done. But if we are on Demonland then aren't we all winners? Cant wait for tomorrow night - go Dees!
  12. As today is Thursday Luci, maybe I can interest you in the following puzzle. I'm no Demonstone so this is similar to D's puzzle, but with a twist. All MFC players - past and present - but not in their usual positions. Probably for similar reasons as D's. I've even borrowed a few of D's players. I'll laugh if no one gets it! B: Glenn Elliott Jake Lever Ken Irving H/B: Viv Michie Christian Salem Ken Emselle C: Tom McDonald Charlie Spargo Simon Eishold H/F: Brian Kenneally Stan Alves Oscar McDonald F: Simon Eishold Alex Neal-Bullen Clayton Oliver R: Jack Trengove Joel Smith David Neitz I: Andrew Obst Jake Melksham Roger Ellingworth Aaron Davey Please PM me with your answer.
  13. Seems I can only do your easy ones D. Thank you for that.
  14. You’ve put a lot of thought into that Dee. But as there is so much finals action to play out this season for both mens sides, I’d rather not think about delisting at this stage for 3 reasons: - heroic actions over the finals could change players standings - it’s a sad process to think about, and - we’ve got 3 finals, for both afl and vfl, to be excited about and to be concentrating on. So I’ll re-visit you after we collect 2 cups.
  15. When I wrote the above, we were on page 36 of this thread. haha Cannot believe we’ve had another 149 more pages of the same stuff and still none the wiser.
  16. So happy to read this from the coach about Sam: “All credit to him – he was given a different role during the week and to come out and impact the game that way, he had 10 hit-outs to advantage, was outstanding,” Corrigan said. “Also his ability to help around the ground, get after it, his ability to change his role within the team was influential.”
  17. That’s about 100,000 likely suspects! Will never be solved.
  18. Our home will be in the MCG precinct, and it will be done in conjunction with the Vic Govt. This has all been stated. What has pushed out is the timeline obviously. I highly doubt the Club has been telling porkies to us. What I believe is that there have been Govt delays or changes, to which we cannot speak, or else Rolley or Pert would have informed us. If it wasn’t going to happen we would have been told, and a new search would have been instigated. I have complete confidence it will happen. As someone has suggested, the delay may be that our new home could now be included in the MCG upgrade (which would be a far better option in my view - but may take longer). As someone else said, premierships are more in our complete control now, so let’s get a couple more. The big picture will take care of itself, in its own time.
  19. So much for the "lets play Joel Smith forward" push.
  20. I tend to agree with Luci that this should be a player led thing - which would imply after the game - if they want us to join in, we’ll know. This notion also has a familiar ring to the “never walk alone” push some time back. Whatever happened to that poster?
