CHANGES: Rd 16 vs Adelaide
I would go no change this week. Then Max in Weid out. The other change that I would consider in the forward line is one of: - Petty tried forward Tomlinson back - Van R forward (I think part of putting him in ruck might be helping him be ready for bash and crash of being forward in AFL team) - Tomlinson forward - Hunt forward The other aspect of the team that’s interesting is with Rivers and Hunt both not in the team, if either make it back into the backline. Hibberd was terrific on Cameron the other night and his proven ability to play on guys like Dusty and Dangerfield is a major benefit, if he maintains current form.

Jack Gunston
Was captain for a number of years at Crows so can’t be all bad. You would have to check with players on what he is really like!! Idvtake him ahead of Gunston. Getting him for 2 years wouldn’t hurt from a forward line perspective.

I would be delighted to play the Pies in any match during the finals! Home & away a different scenario!

CASEY: Rd 14 vs Gold Coast
Agree, Mitch Brown dominates at VFL, yet can’t make the leap to AFL. Just highlights the gap between VFL and AFL that he can’t hold down 3rd tall forward position in AFL. Still having Hunt, Tomlinson, Dunstan and Rivers in the twos provides some depth for our Demons! Even though Rivers has lost form. JVR will be a chance next year after another pre season. I vaguely recall saying something similar about Bowey last year, next week he got called up and the rest is history!

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
You can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink! The impact of loading and associated results are obvious to see, if you want too look! There are many other factors: - mid game injuries, particularly as we lost a few defensive talls (mentioned multiple times during Freo, Swans & Pies matches) - injuries in general - across a 22 game season all teams will have natural ups & downs. If we have a down day against another team having an up day, losses will happen - some teams match up well on other teams - Lady Luck, sometimes things go wrong, from bounce of ball, umpiring decisions, goalkicking, mid game injuries - a simple favourite on this site is effort, yes due to length of a 22 game season, so can’t be up every week But when all said & done, Demons and Goodwin know that finals is a different season, we’re been preparing for over a month with loading to be ready to be at our best in September. Injury willing and a little bit of luck, Thursday showed our best is still better than anyone else, so Demons are putting themselves in position for a big crack at going back to back! This is why Max won’t play against Crows! Go Demons, fingers crossed we’re on the way to back to back!!

Caro Apologise to Dees Fans
Caro should be left alone so she can continue sucking lemons! She will never apologise or admit she is wrong about anything! Total waste of time and space!

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
They started well in the 1st and we destroyed them in the 2nd! Understand the loading (due to all your & Vipercrunch comments) and how teams can stop to a crawl in the last, as Demons did against Pies, Swans & Freo. But we took them apart in the 2nd. Comparatively we were in front of Freo, Swans & Pies at half time, and lost multiple talls mid game against all three, so structure fell over and added impact of loading, led to losses. It was an exceptional Q2 similar to what we did to them in last years QF.

CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
Agree with many- Gawn, Turner replaced by May, Weid! But like the little bit of left field thinking with Hunt, he can kick goals, has speed and defensive capabilities to put pressure on opponents backline. Leaves us a little small but only other alternative is Van R.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
I would say opinion off the back of what the Demons who got it right last year, did in the finals with three big wins! Bvegas 4-9 should have been a 10 goal win! Thats why you often see teams who just make the eight win a first final then get smashed by teams who finished 1-4 but lost first final. Dogs being an outlier in 2021 as until last round they were finishing 1-4. The trick is getting your loading right, finishing top 4, and injury happy!

De Goey is the New Story
Sorry for this but I can’t help myself! He definitely should join the Demons, as Melky could be his minder and would knock De Goooey into shape!! Also he is De …………….Gooey!

I read it as if you don’t get your loading right, no point making the finals, as you won’t win it!

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
Yes, if commentators came out and said not much to see in Demons losses, all were really due to loading, in game injuries to two plus talls, Trac ill and some team illness, Demons still well out in front. Versus nowhere near as appealing for the AFL - how close is the finals/flag race - 10-12 teams in it! Pies/Blues etc can all win it!!
-
The Run Home
Our best is still the best by a fair margin! No team has got close to what we showed in last years finals! While we haven’t played at that level this year, at least we have proven we can do it before, and once we come out of our loading, and have a good injury run, the rest of the comp will need to catch us! Leave MFCSS behind, just go back and look at last years finals again!!

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
Thanks to Binman & co. for the education on loading. Even after Geelong admit it over the weekend, virtually zero acknowledgement on the impact in games from commentators. Demons go from 10-0 to lose 3 in a row with massive drop in last quarters and nothing from analysts. Losing multiple talls in each game and nothing much said, May coming back not much said, Max going out huge! Analysis really is average when there are so many reporters and experts! A big opportunity for someone to provide real insight. We are fortunate to get some great insight on Demonland, if Binman & co had the FD insider knowledge, it would take it to another level. Still after all said and read, feeling very good about Demons, just make top 4 with a healthy list, and we will be looking good at a great shot for back to back!

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
Some Demonlanders want their cake and eat it, without taking the time and effort to bake it! So we finally win our flag last year after 57 years - and it was fantastic, who will ever forget those 7 3rd qtr goals, particularly the last 3 in 32 secs, just unbelievable! The expectation by many is only a flag will do in 2022. But two critical factors influence every season in luck and injuries. Finishing top 4 should be the expectation and then fingers crossed, as best team doesn’t always win - Tigers 2018 Mason Cox plays one of four good games in career & Dusty injured! As you have tried to explain many times(thanks) loading impacts performance in season, but benefits come during finals (as stated yesterday by Scott)! Add in in game injuries and illness over the last 3 weeks and the dramatic drop off in the last quarter due to loading, losses understandable! Fingers crossed on the injury front, 3 wins out of 9 make the eight and maybe only 5 make top 4, let’s hope for better. But if we can find our best from last years finals, there isn’t any one who will beat us from what I’ve seen this year! Loading is just part of the baking! Go Demons!!

Dogs really do get a golden run from the umps, can drop it or throw it as they like!!

CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
Jordan has improved but he is too slow moving the ball forward. Rarely takes first option, then after waiting usually kicks it long down the line!
-
CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
Sparrow struggling at moment so rather than replacing Spargo, Hunt might be worth a stint in forward combined with what he has leant in defence. Still see Hunt in the backline, but might help revamp forward line!
